Golden Village Lodge

The rooms were renovated recently, laminate flooring and no carpeting, very clean and easily accessible just up a few stairs; Our rooms were beside each other like we asked, and for being beside the main highway, I was quite happy the traffic noise was not noticed at all! The queen size beds were exceptional!

I didn't like that the rooms didn't have a connecting door but that was minor... I didn't like how much it costs for one night but that's inflation... the bathroom was really small. Patio was kind of cramped but we didn't use it hardly so that's okay. The air-conditioner looked really old but we didn't need it.

The reason for a high rating for this is not that we stayed there. We booked the room at a very last minute before heading out to Banff from Edmonton. But we did not follow the signs that clearly indicated that the highway is closed near Golden. And Google Maps also did not inform us about it (Sad). The booking was non-refundable but Mr. Malik was very kind and he worked with Booking.com to make sure that he can give us 50% cancellation discount - something that we have not experienced with other non-refundable hotels / bookings. Thanks a lot Mr. Malik for all your help and I am sure, this hotel is being managed by people who are great and will make your stay comfortable and worth visiting. My wife and I will surely visit this hotel the next time we are at Banff.

This place worked just fine. Clean, no smells, very little noise from other units. Location was good. Loved having a Indian restaurant right next door. We ate there and it was good.

Internet is not good. Kept logging off. Very frustrating. Did not like how other renters congregated in front of our window and talked. Sounds of trucks using their jake brake coming down the hill got real old. Parking stalls are too small.

The Golden Village Lodge surpassed our expectations. The newly renovated rooms are clean and spacious, providing a comfortable stay. The bed was particularly cozy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Additionally, the Indian restaurant adjacent to the lodge offers delicious food that comes highly recommended.

The rooms are not very soundproof, but it didn't bother us much during our stay.

The location is not ideal, but we knew that going in. The main thing was we were there during very cold weather and the space heater used to heat the room was really wonky - when we came in it was freezing, but then it was so difficult to calibrate that by the middle of the night it was still blasting hot air into the room non-stop, way over the temp we had had it on, making the room unbearably stifling. We tried everything we could think of to turn it down without turning it off (we are not dumb and know how to work a heater, I swear) and nothing worked. So this resulted in both nights' sleep being poor

Spacious room. Updated.

Updating of hotel was done with some quality issues. Threshold into bathroom glued in place and loose. Tripping hazard. Beautiful wood moldings everywhere and cheap, badly installed particle board bathroom cabinets. Already coming apart. Large stains on ceiling in 2 places; leaks from second floor. Plaster falling out. Mold?

Bed was comfy, room was very clean. Our stay was quiet. Bedding was nice.

Good stay for the money, but the renovated room needs a few finishing touches. There needs to be towel bars installed in the bathroom. The towels were not up to the standards of the bedding, which was very good. There was only one paper cup in the room with 2 queen beds. Small things, easy to fix.

Rooms are very spacious. We were three adults sharing and they had the room pre equipped with enough towels. Beds are comfortable with great pillows. We managed to get parked right outside our door. Room has a fridge, microwave and coffee. The motel is located up on the hill off the highway so easy access and quiet. it’s a five minute drive to town. We stayed there as an overnight stop to Banff. Golden is on Alberta time.

The lighting is very dim but we asked for a brighter bulb and they were happy to give us one.

Somewhat pricey, do not stay for more than one night if you want housekeeping to change towels and or linens , For the price they are charging they could afford to sterilize the entire suite every day. Another example of business taking advantage of the global situation with covid to jack prices up and deliver less service. They have tried to update the facility but poor timing for that.

I thought I had booked a hotel but was a motel. Rooms were very nice and sparkling clean. Front desk lady was very accommodating, always had a smile on her face and was very helpful.

The only ice machine was at the front office so a bit of a walk but nothing to sneeze at.
