The Playford Adelaide - MGallery by Sofitel

Beautiful high design hotel - easily the prettiest available in Adelaide. From the bespoke panelled walls in Luma (the hotel restaurant) to the exceptional tonal colour matching in the spacious suites, The Playford is a stone cold stunner. I stayed for eight nights in the Junior Suite with spa bath which was particularly comfortable. The spa bath was excellent - I want one in my house now! Lovely Frette bath robes compliment the experience... it was hard to not sneak one into my luggage. I. want. one. The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. Brooke at the front desk and Olga in the restaurant were particularly bright and bubbly and Bonika was so helpful printing my flight confirmation for me before departure. The pan-fried gnocchi from Luma made for one of the best room service experiences I've ever had. Overall The Playford MGallery is now my hotel of choice in Adelaide. An excellent five star boutique hotel.

Could do with luggage racks in the rooms. I don't like putting my luggage on the floor or worse on the dining table. There's nothing else to complain about... just need to write more than two sentences.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Loved the addition of a couch, dressing gowns and coffee pod machine. The litre of bottled water delivered each day was much appreciated. The breakfast was varied and delicious. The breakfast set up was in a tight space which we found to be crowded on Sunday morning but easier to maneuver during the week. The pool, sauna and spa were great and for us, the location was perfect. We had two functions at the entertainment centre and a tram outside the hotel was so handy. We also loved the train station across the road. We caught a train to Gawler Central, hired a car and visited Maggie Beer’s Farm. We were in walking distance of the Adelaide Oval where we did an afternoon tour. We enjoyed some amazing meals all in walking distance of The Playford.

Outside windows/doors could be cleaned and room dusted.

The double queen bed room was spacious - it even looked bigger than the photos. The desk was useful for my son study and the coffee machine a bonus Love the twin sinks in the bathroom with a bath and a large shower. Loved the light dimmer in the bathroom - great to have low light for that late night visit. We had to visit the University and it was a close stroll or tram ride up the road. We had dinner at the Luma restaurant in the front of the hotel. Great decor and great food and service Hotel and restaurant staff were all fantastic - so friendly and attentive to our needs. 10/10

With the twin queen beds in the one room - perhaps a curtain or room divider might be an idea to assist with some privacy. There was also no soap for the bath because the dispensers are attached to the wall - I appreciate and support the environmental reasons behind it .... Anyway room service ended up giving my wife a bath bomb for her next bath .

normally don’t write reviews, but this is an absolute must. We would like to shout out a big thank you to THE Playford hotel, this hotel is a must to stay or either come in and dine and drink or two, oh and don’t forget the cocktails thank you to Tony and his crew for making a great bloody Mary, (amazing too!!!) Friday and Saturday they have live soft background music. The staff throughout the hotel was a friendly positive vibe, restaurant staff also amazing, Gaurav, always on his toes greeting you with a smile and nothing is too hard of a special request consider it done, (thank you for our eggs, Benny) Farida running around making sure all your needs are attended too especially breakfast, you are a little rocket star. The executive chef, Cameron, a massive, big, thank you for your special desert on our last night again Amazing, Cameron has put together an amazing menu at The Playford.. a must to try everything on his menu. The reception staff from Brook, Reece, and Melissa a special thank you for looking after our room, friendly and professional with wealth of knowledge of what to do around the city, and in Adelaide in general. Concierge staff as well. A big thank you. Housekeeping We left you a special thank you gift for looking after our room and attending to our special needs again. Very thorough and friendly. Amazing staff. The sauna and wellness area just beautiful to unwind from your busy day. Last, but not least, we did see the executive manager running around the hotel attending to every little pocket of the hotel. Making sure everything is running smoothly a massive, big thank you, it was a beautiful hotel to stay at. Old heritage charm meets modern vibe, We will be highly recommending the hotel to all our friends, colleagues, and my executive professional people in our industry.

We could not fault it

What a gorgeous hotel! Easily the most spacious room I’ve ever stayed in, with so much storage I was able to completely unpack for my stay and store my suitcase out of sight. The facilities were fabulous and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the art deco theme throughout the hotel was beautiful. Buffet breakfast was also great and even had a chocolate fondue fountain!

The only downside for me was that there seemed to be very limited/no gluten free options on the room service menu.

The upgrades are beautiful, and have been thoughtfully styled. The room was surprisingly big, clean, and comfortable. We had an overnight staycation with our kids and they loved the pool and whole experience. It was our daughters 3rd birthday and they left a welcome plate of chocolates and fruit which delighted the kids.

The location isn’t great backing onto Hindley Street, especially for young kids. There was a lot of vomit on the ground down the alley on Sunday morning. But the hotel itself and pool outweighed this, and if you stick to North terrace we had a beautiful walk down to the river, and quick tram ride (for the kids) into Rundle Mall.

Location is fantastic right next to the tram line & train station..Room was located on the 4th floor right next to the lift but it was a very quiet location. Breakfast was the normal standard breakfast

We used a bottle of white wine from the mini bar which wasn’t replenished next day, on asking reception staff we were informed that if we got one that night it wouldn’t be cold enough on our arrival back to the hotel….needless to say we went to the local bottle shop

Our Room could have been better , we did online booking and went into the room that they gave ! We were located in the first floor - and there is a banquet hall on the same level ...it was noisy and there were too many people . Next... our room opened to a internal Courtyard ! there was absolutely no privacy again, so we couldnt draw the curtains open and there was no natural sunlight in the room . Felt our room could have been better after having paid so much

The art deco decoration was lovely, e.g. the cupboard in which the tea and coffee were kept, and the room - and bathroom - spacious. I loved the shower. The staff were friendly and helpful, without exception. The bar areas was great with a good atmosphere, and the breakfasts lovely (didn't really eat dinner there, just bar snacks). It was also in an excellent location for me - across the road from the Convention Centre and in easy walking distance from Rundle Mall.

The only thing I would have like is a larger range of pillows i.e. not more pillows but that the ones there went from harder to softer, and also with an option for a neck-supporting pillow. Otherwise, it was perfect.

The style of the building and rooms, location, comfortable bed, staff efficiency at check in, block out curtains.

Totally out of the control of the property however most times I got in the lift with my partner and baby with the pram fellow guests were very rude, as though it were inconvenient we were in the lift with a pram and that we did not know how to use it properly? It was unusual to strike so many grumpy people over the two days. Again out of the control of the property and the staff were very lovely and accomodating however just a heads up if you intend on staying with small children.
