Avenue Hotel Canberra

The location, presentation of the room and car parking were convenient and fantastic. The location to food and the CBD are key to my stays in Canberra and suite with separate room, perfect for work and rest. I was especially impressed with the low cost parking, please don't get greedy with this! It's a winner.

The only criticism I had was the staff engagement. Staff were nice enough, however you are in the Service Industry and I felt more like a burden to them, rather than a guest. Don't like fake niceness, however presenting options rather than just saying no, clearly not understanding processes and not making eye contact really detracted from the stay. These things can make the different to returning or not. The bed was very+++++ soft and not comfortable.

The room and bathroom are spacious, quiet, clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly, helpful and willing to answered our questions. The price for car park is reasonable. The car park is at the basement level and lockable, so it is safe and plenty parking lots. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a walking distance to shopping centre and restaurant.

We arrived at 13:40, but the room was still not available till 14:00, but the check out time is 11am which is better than other hotels. The bed is too soft, but I believe it is only our own problem because I know most people like soft bed.

Bed was very comfortable and loved the separate bath and shower area in the spa room. Very spacious and clean. A great location near to the city, which was fabulous for a group of girlfriends celebrating a friends 40th birthday. The restaurant food was delicious, and the staff were very attentive.

Car parking is a little tight to get into entrance with a 4x4. Two towers need to be connected. My friends were in Tower 1 and I was in Tower 2. I had to come down the Life 2 to reception then wait for my friends from Tower 1 to come down to collect me, to go back up in Lift 1 even though on the same level floor. No green tea!! please stock up. Peppermint tea is too sweet.

The location is great and close to pretty much everything via walk or short drive. Very comfortable room, beds and great bathroom and shower. The small balcony also adds a nice aspect and cosy for sitting out and enjoying a beverage. Parking is good, lift access is efficient and staff were most obliging.

Only one disappointing moment. Ordered a bucket of ice for the room and despite at least two requests for same, it never turned up! Such a simple, mundane request that was apparently difficult to fulfill? No reason why and hard to fathom but it is what it is and if not for this, would have rated 10!

What a superb hotel! Outstanding staff, high quality products (such as Kevin Murphy shampoo and conditioner, sold at my hair salon, and T2 tea bag varieties, fresh milk in carton and not plastic non biodegradable pods), wide range of inexpensive mini bar items, phone charger docks, delicious steak house on premises (which delivered delicious room service dinner quickly), nice balcony overlooking landmark, outstanding buffet breakfast with large variety of foods and fresh pastries…and lattes brought to your table! Definitely staying again! Best accommodation I’ve experienced in Canberra yet. Secure parking too!

I should have stayed longer!

The hotel was everything we hoped for. The room was comfortable and clean. Beds were comfortable. Location was great, close to other restaurants and shops. Access to the parking was good and it was easy to get into and out of the hotel with the car when we needed to. It was also good to have the on-site restaurant which served nice meals

Cable TV would have been nice - they only had free-to-air when we were there.

We loved the room, it was spacious and well-thought out. The kitchen was well kitted out and included a Nespresso machine. The sofa was comfortable and the sittingroom area was a nice place to relax and watch TV. The bedroom was enormous with a comfortable bed and a balcony facing into a courtyard. The bathroom was very large too, with a spa bath, separate shower and a loo. There was plenty of storage throughout and you could easily live there for a few weeks if you were business.

Nothing to dislike about this hotel.

We had a very nice spacious apartment with a big balcony extending across both bedroom and sitting room; excellent facilities included dishwasher, tumble drier and dishwasher. Location very good for shopping and public transport.

Room service finished several hours earlier than the 3pm stated on the room TV hotel information - we stayed in the room for a few hours on our first morning and put out the "Do Not Disturb" notice. When we emerged before lunch, there was a notice saying they'd honoured our request and when we asked at reception they just told us room service was over. Reception staff less spontaneously friendly than in every other hotel we stayed in in Australia. (However, those on duty the day before our check-out were helpful about ordering an early cab for us.)

Great location, hotel common areas modern and clean. Bed very comfortable and no noise from other guests. Loved that I was able to get into my room when I arrived at 9am enabling me to work the day from the room which I very much appreciated.

Shower screen not great in terms of retaining water in the shower area and water pressure is poor. Ok for a general shower but washing your hair is a real struggle. Air con made some rattling noises periodically throughout the night. Turns into and out of car park very tight.

Proximity to local restaurants and cafes, the fact the room was an apartment with a balcony not a stuffy hotel room. Balcony just looked at a central terrace of other balconies. Spa amazing when it was working properly.

The Spa in our room would not turn off, we called reception twice, someone eventually came up but that's okay. They explained no maintenance staff over weekend okay again. Power was turned off to spa via internal trip box. Was not offered anything in return for the delema besides an apology. Mattress sagged. Both my partner and I woke up going did you feel like the mattress was sucking you into the middle of the bed, I woke up with pins and needless in my arm.
