Super 8 by Wyndham Custer/Crazy Horse Area

Convenient, friendly employees, property was clean

There was a smell in our room, told front desk. They brought some air freshener spray. Later the smell came back for my husband pulled the filter from AC and cleaned it out and like magic the smell was gone!! The filters need to be cleaned!! I have allergies and was having issues until the vent was cleaned!

The room was clean, and met all our needs. The breakfast was simple, but quite good, and just what we needed. The location was very nice - close enough to town that you could walk into Custer if you wanted. Also, close enough to various activities that we felt like we could come back to the hotel during the day if needed. Very close to Custer State Park - including Sylvan Lake, the Wildlife Trail, and Iron Mnt Road. Prairie Berry Winery is nearby. Maybe 20 mins to Rushmore. Less than 10 mins to Crazy Horse. Keystone is a bit further, but that was overly touristy so we avoided Keystone. Custer is a cute, tiny town, with a little bit of shopping, some good restaurants, and good coffee at Wicked Espresso, and Calamity Jane's. Very nice that this hotel is dog friendly! Plenty of grass in front of hotel for potty breaks, and well lit grass at nice.

The ceiling tiles in the bathroom, over the shower, looked to have suffered water damage. Replacing just a few of those ceiling tiles would have made a big difference in the overall presentation of the room.

Found it on booking.com and by driving by last year during the Rally we normally stay in a cabin but decided to try this motel and we were not disappointed at all the staff is amazing so helpful and accommodating, warm and caring and friendly. Room was clean and breakfast was good anytime we asked for anything we had it immediately I would definitely stay again

I hated I had to leave….

The staff were fabulous and extremely helpful.

We decided to use the hot tub. The pool area smelled of chlorine, but went in anyway. After a few minutes our eyes were burning and the chlorine smell was overwhelming. Went back to room and showered immediately. We were quite ill the next day, slept 14 hours, and difficulty breathing for the next few days. If you smell overpowering chlorine in pool area, do not go in.

We recently stayed here on recent trip to Custer, SD and the surrounding area. The hotel seems to be a bit older, however our rooms were clean, the staff was helpful, and having a quick breakfast before we headed out each morning was nice. When you are only in your room to sleep, and spend the rest of your time enjoying the surrounding area, the location and price through booking.com couldn't be beat.

The staff was very friendly, and helpful. They made it feel like you were visiting "home away from home." The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The view from our room was beautiful. The breakfast was amazing! It was so nice to have a refrigerator and microwave in the room, very convenient. The pool area was well kept and very nice. This is a very family and pet friendly motel. Would definitely recommend!!! This was the best Super 8 our family has stayed at.

Place is located in a town near various travel destinations. Building is nice, room was big enough and included everything what you would need (extra blankets, iron, microwave, mini fridge, big TV). There was an option to use laundry room in the building as well as ice maker and jacuzzi. I would definitely recommend the place.

Breakfast is included in the rate but it is not worth considering. Service was very poor, no scrambled eggs, no meat, just waffle and bread with jam. Although coffee was good.

Good location for visiting the sights we wanted to see in the area (Custer SP, Wind Cave, Rushmore & Crazy Horse). On site laundry came in handy for the middle of our trip too. Pool looked good (although we didn’t use it)

Maybe a few more options at breakfast, but overall the place had what we needed.

I loved everything about this place!! It was clean, comfortable and very pet friendly! They have the best pillows I have ever slept on! The staff was really friendly and accommodating and the continental breakfast was top notch! I would definitely stay there again!!

My only complaint…that has nothing to do with the property was that none of the restaurants in Custer will do carry out. I’m traveling solo and don’t want to sit in a restaurant by myself but the only way they’ll serve you is if you dine in…needless to say I had Pizza Hut delivered to my room…which I would gladly eat every day before I ever eat at a restaurant in Custer.

We liked the location for our visit to the Black Hills. Breakfast was decent, but could have had a few more choices, but did like that they had them menu posted for the week.

Ice machine on the main floor was empty Sunday morning when we went to fill our small cooler for the trip home. But that was no big deal, only time it was empty during our 4 night stay.
