The house was beyond beautiful! every room was put together with such thoughtfulness in the furniture, the amenities, the comfort. There was nothing that wasn't thought through from a guest perspective. The hosts, Z and Monica were engaging and welcoming. The breakfasts were delicious and there were tables set up around the first floor so you could pick the environment just right for you (we chose the solarium both mornings). We can't wait to come back with even more time lounge around the property - the front porch especially!

Wonderful welcome from Z to this amazing house. We loved the Renaissance Revival room with its own balcony. The breakfasts were really special with a different cooked dish every morning. Monika and Z made us feel relaxed and at home. The Gifford-Risley is conveniently located within walking distance of the small town of Media which has many shops and restaurants. Trains from the station run into Philadelphia regularly and there are also trolley buses.

Nothing..it was perfect!

My stay here was amazing, from the owners and staff, to the rooms, everything was great! I stayed in the Queen Anne room, and it was absolutely beautiful! The room had its own reading nook that I thoroughly enjoyed. I did have to work some while here, so I stayed mostly in my own room when not venturing out. The room was amazing and comfortable, so it wasn’t a pain needing to stay in to get work done. Breakfast was served each morning around 9, and was wonderful! I stayed here four days, and my first morning I was served eggs Benedict, my last morning Monica made delicious pancakes with bananas and pecans. I would definitely recommend staying here, and I plan to visit again next time I make my way up to Media.

My wife and I stayed for our anniversary. Our stay was just right. It was close by but gave us a chance to enjoy the many choices of restaurants in Media and a wonderful day strolling through Chanticleer. You don’t need to go far away to enjoy a wonderful get-a-way. All the rooms were unique and we really liked ours, the Arts and Crafts Room. Breakfasts were very good and with the great weather we were able to enjoy them on the front porch. It was also nice to talk with and get to know the owners who have put so much effort into creating a remarkable place to enjoy.

My partner and I were in the area to attend an event and decided to stay at the Gifford Risley House. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of our stay, from the impeccable attention to the decorative details throughout the house to the quality of the breakfasts served and the outstanding hospitality provided to us by Monika and Z. The breakfasts were delicious-- both consisting of multiple courses of food, including Eggs Benedict on our final morning. Monika and Z were so friendly and accommodating to us, which made all the difference. We stayed in the Queen Anne Room and it was more than comfortable and beautifully decorated. The B&B is just a few blocks from downtown Media, which is full of restaurants and shops.

Truly, we have no complaints about our stay.

My grandparents owned a house like this at 33 Powelton Ave in Philadelphia. I used to love her house when I was little. When I entered into this beautiful bed and breakfast I felt as I was receiving a hug from my Grandmom with this beautiful house having the same decor she used to have in her home . I felt I traveled back in time and I was Blessed to stay in the B &B .

I loved everything about it.

Everything was great and the owners were more than gracious.

. We could not get TV to work properly, but we don't watch a whole lot, so not a big issue. Wish they could be a little more flexible with breakfast, only at 9 and we had a granddaughters volleyball tournament that started early, although the host was nice enough to make us some muffins the night before and had a little to go bag set out for us each morning. So all in all a very pleasant stay.

Our stay was perfect. Since we came from the West Coast on a red-eye, we were pretty tired. Monika let us check in very early so we could rest a bit. The location was perfect too. My family lives only 10 minutes away. And the building was gorgeous! I would highly recommend staying here!

We had a wonderful experience staying at the Gifford-Risley House BnB! The hosts, Monika and Z, were very hospitable and have done a fantastic job restoring the beautiful old house for overnight guests. Breakfast was delicious and we chose to eat in the sun room to enjoy the morning views. The house is also situated just a few blocks away from way too many good restaurant choices in downtown Media.

A storm blew through in the middle of the night and one of the (original) windows in the house was rattling from the wind. I stuck a folded piece of paper between the window and the frame, and all was well again. As for the storm, we wouldn't have even heard it come through had it not been for the window--we were on the top floor, but the house is so well built that we couldn't even hear the rain!

The rooms are all beautiful and unique. The entire house is a Victorian masterpiece, perfectly appointed with a balance of authenticity and comfort. I have stayed in many nice bed and breakfasts in a handful of countries and around America. Rarely do I describe one as perfect. This was. The breakfast, the service, the house, the room. Thank you!!
