The Melrose

The Melrose was a great place to stay. Walking distance to the beach. Room was clean and large with our own private bath. We had never stayed in Ocean Grove just always drove down for the day. Staff was friendly and so were the people we met staying there. Very quiet. We were happy to get away for a mother daughter weekend and stay in a nice place.

We had a bit of an issue with getting beach badges through the Melrose. The link on the page didn't work for us. Paying for your badges up at the beach is $12. Through them it's $8. But it was rectified with them and we were able to get them. The Keurig in the lobby stopped working, so we had to drive to get our morning coffee. No biggie for us. We still were able to sit on the porch in the morning and enjoy the view.

Nice clean room with private bathroom. The Full size bed could use updating. Shared balconies were comfortable with nice view of canal. Walking distance to beach and Asbury Park. Coffee machine available 23/7. Fridge in our 2B room. No ice.

All transactions were done online. You have to docusign an agreement before they send you access codes to enter hotel and room. No physical person was available. I booked this room in 6 months ago. Didn’t read all the way through. Waited an hour and numerous calls to a help desk to access room. Room has minimal necessities.

Good spot near the beach, Good for year round stay just 10 minutes from Neptune or Asbury. Between that and the Victorian vibe, Ocean Grove's Melrose is hard to beat at its price point.

Breakfast was just coffee but that was ok

There was absolutely no where to PARK. We drove around for 45 minutes and then parked in Asbury Park and walked to The Melrose. I loved the room but probably would not stay here again because we couldn't walk back cause the gate to the bridge was locked at 1030. So we had to drive back and again find parking

LOVED everything! SO clean and comfy, it felt luxurious in the beachy kind of way. SUPER location close to beach & boardwalk yet quiet & charming. Loved the seaside breeze. Loved the porches. Owner picked up on first rings when we had questions.

Not accessible for the 77yr old with us (stairs, shower), but we also hadn't requested it to be. Rooms could be a little snug for two, but loved the intimate, breezy charm. The app that was needed to access the place during quiet/afterhours wasn't intuitive, it was confusing at first, but then we never needed it.

The fixtures and furniture were very nice and clean! The porches are nice and clean also. Staff on site was very friendly. Plenty of parking as it's more on the edge of town.

The hallways are very narrow, so if someone is heavy it would be difficult to fit.

The location was perfect. It was very clean and a decent value. The bed and linens were very nice.

The room was pretty tiny for 2 people. There is no place for clothing or coats except for a luggage rack and only one hook in the whole unit for a coat or a towel or clothing while you shower. We could have used at least 3 more. Half and half would have been better than coffee mate for the coffee. The plug one the wall above the bed was weird and uncomfortable to use.

The location is great. Walk to Asbury Park and the beach is a block away.

The only thing I didn’t like was my private bath was across the hallway. Good thing no one else was in the hallway when I snuck back into my room after a shower wearing my towel.

No breakfast at this location. Liked the fact that you could walk to the beach & also the main street.

Parking on street was sometimes difficult. Had to circle streets a number of times before a spot was found to park.

We stayed here for a wedding at Porta. We unfortunately were unable to get an early check in so we didn't arrive till 11pm and left the following morning. We will be back when we have more time. I look forward to sitting on the second floor deck with ocean views! Each floor landing has an adorable sitting area. The entire house was spotless.

There is nothing that we didn't love!
