Econo Lodge Inn & Suites I-35 at Shawnee Mission

The room was tidy and compact. Comfortable bed, decent water pressure. And a great selection of TV channels.

The one issue I had was the afternoon of 4/22. I needed some ice for my ice chest. So I grabbed my room's ice bucket and went to the front desk to ask where their ice machine was. The woman behind the desk told me there was no ice. So went across the street to the QuikTrip and purchased a bag of ice. Later that afternoon, I was looking for the vending machines, and there was a perfectly functional ice machine. Now it cost me $2 and change to purchase the ice, but I don't like being lied to.

Staff were all very professional, I feel some people may take that for rudeness, but they are very task oriented. If you get to speak with them outside of them preforming a service, they are all pleasant and friendly. Our toilet was clogged in our room (I assume from the last person) we got in around midnight, and noticed the morning after when we woke up, staff handled every single step, it wouldn't plunge, they snaked it, and ended up moving us to a different room when that didn't work. I think that's what made me notice the task orientation, instantly they jumped on it, and when it was done, they snapped to friendly. At no point was I blown off or talked down to. It was issue taken extremely seriously to solve it. At no point I felt they handled the situation wrong, they made every effort to make sure I was happy with my stay, facility was clean, and also the location was convenient, shared a parking lot with a steak and shake, and across a side road a large gas station. Location was quiet, and I only recall hearing another guest during my stay for two nights, but they were being overly loud by themselves, not a reflection of the facility. For the price and professionalism of the staff, I was overly pleased with my stay.

Breakfast was sub par, cereal and muffins as previously stated, but honestly for the price, surprised they supplied any breakfast at all. Coffee was good.

it was a great motel very clean and newly updated and the staff was very friendly. will recommend this motel and will stay again ....

tell people up front that you will be charged additional fees when you arrive for your booking. we was charged $3.18 for safe that was in room but never asked for nor did we recieve a combination for it to even beable to use it though we had no need for it .... ALSO though booked through third party such as booking.com we should still have been given a reciept for everything that was charged to our car from the motel but when we asked for one was told we could not get it because we booked through a third party ....

Room was much better than expected! Bed was VERY comfortable. The bathroom was very roomy with wonderful roll in shower. Location was great, Quick Trip next door, easy access to restaurants, shopping and highways.

Freshness of the fruit served for breakfast. Over ripe oranges and under ripe bananas.

Love the location. Close to everything! Room was clean and great customer service.

They charge your card and extra $50 in case of damages, and I'm ok with that. But it's been almost 48 hours and my money has not been put back on my card.

Close to the NEW dinner theater, person at office was helpful in giving us directions. Nothing fancy, but a nice clean room and at a reasonable price!. Will definitely stay there again!.

Everything was fine, can't complain

The room we stayed in was very clean and we loved how it was new hardwood floors. They cleaned it every day and stocked if needed and changed out the trash. I'd stay again when I come back into town.

We didn't swim in the pool during our stay to low, more for a child to swim in would go maybe to my thighs. But it was clean looking. We preferred a downstairs room but they were out.

location, price, cleanliness

a little more variety for the breakfast would have been nice. bagels or toast or even instant oatmeal. nothing hot was available. Tea would have been a nice option as well since I am not a coffee drinker.

Location was excellent for our purposes! Easy access into downtown KC. Host was very helpful and willing to show us several rooms…

The air conditioning/heating unit went on and off all night… noisy

The rooms were good sized and the staff friendly. They took a 50 dollar deposit but that was promptly put back on my card the day we checked out!

As hot as it was I think the staff turning on the AC before the guests check in would be a great idea.
