This hotel certainly exceeded my expectations. My husband and I have 5 children and miraculously managed enough babysitting to have an entire night to ourselves, so we booked the room to relax and hang out in the hot tub, that’s about it. We checked in and the woman at the front desk was incredibly helpful, I told her I just need the hot tub and she showed us on a map of the hotel where everything was. We were able to relax in the hot tub for a long while before we went to the room to order pizza and call it a night, hot tub was clean and spacious. The facility had the doors locked without a key so security was comforting as well. The room was larger than expected and very clean. Couch was very comfortable to hang out and eat pizza on, the bed was incredibly comfortable and we both slept like babies. The shower/tub was huge and the shower head felt amazing on my back. There was a decent sized kitchen area with everything we could need including plates and glasses. Microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker were included also. They even have a pretty large courtyard with grills (utensils are available at the front desk for grilling, which is rare and so helpful!!) and there is a mini-golf area. Even the breakfast buffet was included with our stay and the selection was fantastic! The entire stay was wonderful and for $124 on a Saturday night I couldn’t pass it up, but we are so glad we gave this place a shot, it was completely worth it and wonderful and I will be back with my next opportunity to do so.

My only complaint is the location, it is extremely close to everything as far as shopping, food, events, which is fantastic for someone out of town staying for a few days in the area. My personal issue is that the traffic is very close and you can hear it all outside. We live in Michigan on a 2.4 acre property so the lack of quiet and visibility of stars was a bummer for us, but that’s just referring to our personal preference. They did a great job of blocking traffic noise from the courtyard though, as it is in the center of the property which circles around it. So not much of a genuine complaint, and it will not deter me from staying for my next night out.

The staff was very friendly and the accommodations were exactly what we needed. The breakfast was great. We were happy to learn that the 10 am check-out is a misprint and it’s actually 11 am. The website and rules/regulations seem to be outdated with old Covid rules. The pool table room in available and the pool and hot tub is also open and newly renovated. We stayed in the a two-bedroom suite and the rooms were spacious and very clean. One bedroom is a primary room with a bathroom in the bedroom and the other has the bathroom right outside the door so if you have someone sleeping on the pull-out couch they can use that one as well.

Everything was great

The staff was helpful and made the check in and check out process very easy. After being on the road for 10+ hours I was grateful to have had a comfortable and clean place to stop. There is a Whole Foods nearby which made for a nice quick dinner stop. I did not get a chance to use the pool or hot tub, the putting green or the cornhole but this made me want to come back to Indiana to stay here for a fun weekend!

The night I stayed the place was not fully booked but the people staying there all seemed to be put in the same corner in the same hallway. I’m sure this makes for easier cleanup and room turnover but the walls can be thin so hearing kids running up and down the hall probably could have been avoided if we were spaced out a little.

I stay here every time I'm in South Bend (on business). Excellent hotel. Great location. Wonderful staff. Clean and large rooms. Breakfast is good, nothing exceptional but definitely on the better scale vs most hotels in this price range. Also they offer free use of washers and dryers and give free detergent. That's a really nice addition.

Liked it all!

The size of the suite was very unexpected, and I was very pleasantly surprised. LOVED IT! The size of the shower/tub is very generous, making me feel extremely comfortable and at ease. The unexpected aspect is that my "room", was actually a small suite. There is an entrance that brings you into the mini kitchen that has an nice eating counter. And that is open to a "living room", that has an LCD TV, a nice sitting chair, and a sofa. Lots of room to feel like your in a small house rather than a single bedroom with a bathroom. The bathroom is very nice. There is separated area with a sink and mirror for washing, brushing, or any such personal grooming need. Then there is a very nicely sized, large, shower/tub. Very nice, roomy, and relaxing.

The mattresses and pillows are of high quality, as well as the sheets/bedding. There is a huge LCD TV in the bedroom. Interestingly, the LCD TV in the living room area is smaller than the one in the bedroom. But then, a lot of people like to watch TV in their bedrooms. The only negative to my particular stay was the the mattress had a noticeable lean to the right, as you lay on it. There must be some kind of defect in that particular mattress as I felt the "lean" to the right, as if there is a hump in the middle and I'm laying on the downhill side. Other than that, the bed was comfy.

It was super clean. The cost was extremely reasonable. I've stayed at more expensive hotels that did not even come close to Varsity Clubs. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Definitely would love to come back!!

The only thing I would say was the lack of outlets. One thing I do like about some other hotels I've stayed in is the USB ports in the lamps. Therefore not needing outlets to plug in chargers for cell phones, smart watches, etc.

The staff are always very accommodating. The rooms are spacious, well laid out, well stocked, and comfortable. The hot tub is also very nice sized, you can comfortably get in when there are other people, without feeling like you're getting in their space.

The breakfast was fine. I do wish that they would mix it up a little. Maybe add biscuits and gravy one day, or hash browns, something to mix it up. It did get old, and there really was nothing special about it. Scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, and the normal staples, like cereal, bagels, toast.

Breakfast was good, but would have liked a few more choices ie: bagels or muffins. The one bedroom suite was very nice and the bed was comfortable.

They need to replace the toilets with chair height ones for us older adults. Plus, it took forever to flush.

LOVED all the Notre Dame memorabilia! Friendly staff, nice variety at breakfast (hot and cold buffet, with omelet station on weekends), good location to ND campus (NOT next door to campus, but only 8 minute drive.) Tough to get those hotels on a football weekend. Room size and layout were fine (1 BR King, with sofa bed, mini fridge/freezer, coffee maker in room, coffee cups, plates and utensils all provided in little kitchen area. Plenty of towels (various sizes in room), but should have had at least a 2nd roll of TP and a box of tissues in the room, especially for the price. The front desk gladly provided both when we requested them. Free Parking. Indoor pool looked nice (and families were having fun), for those interested. Nice outdoor courtyard area with fire pit, as well! Highly recommend!

The Price! I get it’s a football weekend, but more expensive than BOSTON and NYC...a bit ridiculous. Also, for the price of the room there should have been enough essentials for 3 guests (toilet paper, at least 1 box of tissues, hand soap and sofa bed sheets/blankets, too). Although the front desk staff quickly provided these, housekeeping should be on top of their game, especially at these prices. The basics should have been in the room before guests arrive, so as not to inconvenience them during their stay.
