Hampton Inn & Suites Richmond

We came to celebrate my husband's Birthday and Christmas with 3 of our grandchildren. I asked if it would be possible to have a bit of Christmas decor and maybe stockings for the girls. The staff came through beautifully! They had a small decorated tree and gift bags full of goodies for the girls. They were thrilled! We had a "Family Suite". When you walk in the door, there is a counter with a sink, under cabinet refrigerator and microwave and a coffee maker. Contining into the room there is a sitting area with chair, sofa and coffee table. There was a large open area between the 2 queen beds and sitting area that gave the kids plenty of room to play. Centered on one wall is a large TV stand/dresser. The TV is equiped to be turned so that it can be seen from the beds or sitting area. On the wall closest to the door there is a large desk. Just beyond the desk there is an alcove with a large sink counter and mirror. When facing the sink the toilet and shower room are to the left and the closet to the right. Or as the girls called it "the changing room". Breakfast was good but could have used fruit beyond apples, bannas and oranges. While they were in the midst of renovation, they had things neatly organized and clean. We had a lovely stay and will be staying again!

Could have used a little more variety in the breakfast.

We were trapped on I70 for seven hours - thanks to INDOT having poor crisis management; and this property went beyond what-with booking us last-minute and simply wonderful check-in / reception. The woman showed empathy to the situation and was super helpful.

The pet fees were not published on Booking.com; $50 per pet is a very high rate and keeps me from going back to Hampton Inns as I travel. The room was large and comfy but didn't feel like a room worth $150.

The young woman who checked me in was friendly, outgoing, and made a point of making me feel welcome. She explained everything and was helpful in directing me to the elevators. I loved that coffee was available 24/7, and the cup I had the next morning was so good I took a cup with me to go. I was assigned the handicapped accessible room; per www.booking.com, it is the room they give to people traveling alone. It was huge, and anyone needing a bit more room to move around would have been pleased. The water got hot in the shower immediately and had good pressure. The bed was very comfortable. I know some people have complained about the breakfast options but I was quite pleased. I was doing a lot of driving and didn't want a heavy meal, so the cereal bar, yogurt, apple, and muffin were just what I needed.

I understand that due to COVID certain amenities are not available in the rooms, but it would have been nice to have a channel list in the room somewhere...perhaps a QR code that we could scan? Also, I prefer a firm pillow and all the of the pillows feel like they were suffocating me. I was glad I brought my own pillow along just in case.

Everything! By far the best breakfast compared to any accommodations I have stayed in. The rooms are very clean and staff incredibly nice. This is definitely my go to spot when in the area!!!

I just wish I had more time in the area itself. Richmond is a beautiful area rich with history.

The Family Suite is worth every dime. Plenty of space and great for children to run around.

The only bad thing was was the shower pressure. It was very low and annoying to shower with.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Even the maids had a smile and said good morning.

Need more hooks in the bathroom and next to the sink to hang the organizer for showers and teeth.

lots of places to eat and shop if you needed. property was clean.

praise in public, criticize in private. employees complained about each other in front of guests. all places have employee problems but I didn’t need to hear their problems on my vacation.

The staff was friendly...great location! Local dinning and shopping.

The noise of our neighbors upstairs, it was like they were stomping roaches with clogs on lol!

Nothing! I wish I had more time. We were a late check in since we were traveling through for a college visit and went straight home, but this is definitely my go to spot when coming back to this area.

The pool had a little too much chlorine in it. More variety for breakfast. Longer breakfast hours. Fruit be left for customers to be able to get anytime.
