requires $100 deposit to try to get you to spend $$$ in their restaurant unresponsive, inattentive and insufficient staff cold room with no in-suite climate control, have to ask unresponsive staff to adjust for me

The hotel is very nice. Nicely appointed, and beautifully decorated in a manner befitting it's history. All the important comforts are there and are, well, comfortable. Staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of a fun shopping/eating area. All in all a very nice stay.

I could add no TV, and that's a positive or a negative depending on your interests. Aside from that, just a few details... The bathroom window was not frosted so the only way to get privacy from the room across the way is to close the blind, which is dark and dreary. The curtains in the main room are very tall and hard to close; you have to yank on them pretty roughly to get them to move and I expect they may not last a long time as a result. There is nowhere, aside from a wall hook or two, to hang a suit or dress if you wish to. Minor nits, yes, but things that irked us nonetheless. Otherwise, all good.

The Holbrooke is a very comfortable hotel. The restaurant has excellent food. Every member of staff (reception, wait staff, bartender, housekeeping) were incredibly kind and helpful. The room was quite, the bed very comfortable and the room was very pleasant with good wi-fi. We were there for 5 days and enjoyed every one of them. I managed to break my leg (not at the hotel) mid-way through our stay and the staff could not have been more accommodating and kind. Having been laid up in the room for 2 solid days I can attest to the comfort of the place. I will certainly stay there again.

The Holbrooke Hotel is the prettiest vintage hotel we’ve stayed in! From the check-in area, dining room, bar, downstairs saloon, patio, it looks both modern and historic at the same time. Our room was spacious and air conditioned. There wasn’t a TV, but that was ok with us. We did not eat dinner in the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the food. The hotel is well located on Main Street, but was not noisy. Parking is in the back.

It would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room, but other than that everything was great!

Very Beautiful hotel, loved the atmosphere. Very nice accommodating staff, especially Ashley. Jacob was very friendly as well. Great restaurant in lobby, good food and room was very nice, kept the historic feel and also the hotel was active with paranormal.. but friendly 😉😁

Coffee in room was very strong. Could use complimentary water in room. That would be nice. Ashley did give us a large glass bottle of water to bring to our room. Air conditioner in room was a bit difficult to keep at a happy medium. Either very cold or too warm. Bed was a bit stiff for me, my spouse loved it though. 😁

We loved the decor in the hotel - a fun mix of old and new. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large and very well appointed. The front desk staff and the bartenders were all excellent!

We received a knock on our door with a noise complaint, which came as a surprise: my boyfriend and I were the only people in our room, and we were definitely not making any excessive noise. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and we did not like any of the dishes we ordered: my boyfriend had wings that were cold in the middle, and the breakfast that comes with the room was not good. That said, there is a strong chance they were understaffed and this affected the quality of the food - they definitely only had one server during breakfast, the poor guy was run ragged, and everything came out lukewarm.

A little noisy tho...room 7 because of trash pick up and food drop offs... Staff was in attentive. Didnt clean my room. No scones last day

The Hotel met our needs

I was quoted a different price when I booked my room for our honeymoon two months in advance. it was over $140.00 more than the 300 per night quoted. I would love to recommend the hotel but it is very over priced. I am from Grass Valley . Holbrook is part of our family memories my parents were married on the back deck and stayed for their honeymoon. uses the Iron door for many party's in the past. the price at check out came as a surprise.

This is the oldest continuously operating hotel in California. It has been lovingly maintained and is perfect in every detail. The decor is at once vintage and modern--this is no cutesy period piece. It seems to be beloved by locals and tourists alike. The bar and dining room were always full with both. There was live music for Friday happy hour, and Saturday and Sunday for brunch. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and had helpful suggestions for things to do.

Could not have been better.

We checked in late at night and were greeted by the goth night clerk, who was so sweet and just who I needed in that moment. The room was compact but spotlessly clean and so perfectly vintage. I would have loved to be able to hang out at the bar in the lobby. I loved the renovation details and the overall feel of the place. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

It would be cool to be able to get coffee at the bar early in the morning or to have a pod machine in the room; it took some investigating to find an open cafe.
