Great location and quality for the price! Staff is super friendly. If you're into hiking or mountain biking like I am, you'll enjoy Thor's recommendations on all trails nearby, bike shops, rentals, etc. Surprisingly quiet considering the proximity from the main road. Simple breakfast offered at the lobby in the morning was good enough for me - I'm not into fancy breakfast - All I need in the morning is as much coffee I can have and a few snacks and so I was served. The spa and swimming pool area is really neat and comfortably hidden from the wind. So if your bike gets lost by the airline like mine was, you can chill out in the sun there waiting for your baggage delivery while sipping on a good beer from Oak Creek Brewery. Enjoy Sedona!

The young men running this motel are very friendly and helpful. It's in a good location on the main road through Sedona. There are places to eat within a short walking distance and more just a short drive away and there are also lots of hiking opportunities a short drive away. We didn't use it, but there is a pool in the back.

This is a very ordinary motel -- nothing fancy about it, so you should know that going in. It's affordable for Sedona, I guess, but you don't really get anything extraordinary for your money. My wife and I were out traveling for about two weeks and this motel's bed was the least comfortable of all the beds we slept in. The owners should probably think about upgrading the mattresses.

This is an older motel located in West Sedona that is family owned and operated. Troy, was very kind and helpful with questions on best hikes etc. He always had a smile on his face and personally thanked us for our business. He was more than willing to grab us ice and take care of any needs. Housekeeping was also very friendly and helped us with check in and showing us to our room. The hot tub and pool area was a nice surprise and is well kept with fire pits and plenty of seating. If you like pizza, I’d recommend the pizza shop right across the street. Very friendly service

There is nothing I can think of.

When you think of a Mom & Pops place, this property is it! It's a family owned business and it shows. You can tell that they put effort into making you feel like a guest & not just a number on their books. It feels good to give back to the community by stepping away from the corporations & supporting local! This cute little property is smaller so it feels more intimate. The hosts were super friendly & made you feel welcomed. The location is great, the beds are super comfy & their pool set-up is stellar! We bought some goods at the market, grilled them up pool side & after cooking - we enjoyed them next to the firepit. It was the best ending to a wine-touring adventure day. :)

The TVs were older - so if you are wanting to stay in and veg & just watch TV, best to look elsewhere.... This was not an issue for us. TV was not on our agenda.

Property location in West Sedona is very convenient. Although the property is situated on the main highway (89A), the room was quiet without much street noise. Great dining options within one mile radius. Also easy drive to Upper Sedona and Central Sedona for walkable retail neighborhoods. Easy driving distance to many hiking trail heads. Although probably better to use free shuttles that runs Thurs through Sunday.

Water pressure and hot/cold mix in bathroom shower was unbalanced. Our visit was in early December, and the temperature dropped down to the 30's (but sunny) on one of the days. The locals told us that rain in Sedona was very rare, maybe five days of the year. We caught two of them during our visit! We were told it was their "slowest" time of year so it was wonderful for us with no crowds for all of the activities we experienced!

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and we had housekeeping service daily with fresh towels and fresh soap and shampoo. There was a coffee maker in the room and a simple but adequate continental breakfast available to bring back to the room. There was a great hot tub and parking right outside the room. The building was old but I doubt I would get a better value at a fancy hotel and the property owners were informative and friendly. I would definitely recommend Sugar Loaf Lodge.

Nothing really. The premises has an outdoor pool which was cold but I saw children enjoying it.

We received a hearty welcome from Thor after a long day on the road. My honey brought his mountain bike so he and Thor excitedly shared biking info and Thor even offered to take him on the trails. We were in Room 6, peaceful with no highway noise. Room was cute, beds were comfy, shower had excellent pressure. Thankfully, we were able to stay a third night at Sugar Loaf so we could spend more time in Sedona.

Only issue was toilet didn't seem to be secured to the floor properly, hopefully this was addressed after we left.

The two best things were that the rooms were exceptionally clean, and I had no worries about bedbugs, etc. The second thing was it was quiet...almost the entire stay until the rowdies took the room next door, but even they calmed down, more or less.

I was surprised to see our key left outside in the key drop at 9PM, which is not late by any means. I also had a bit of a problem getting ahold of the manager, but eventually that all worked out. There doesn't seem to be anyone handling the office at times.

We had an amazing stay! After about a 7 hour drive from northern Arizona to get there, we were greeted with such enthusiasm and happiness from Thor that we knew we were going to have a great stay! The rooms were comfortable, the pool, hot tub, and fire pit were wonderful after our long days hiking. There was a whole group there as well using the grill which looked like it worked perfectly for them. Breakfast in the morning was an added bonus. When we were checking in, Thor asked us which donuts we wanted for the morning since he picks them up fresh! You really can’t beat a family owned business! In addition to all the wonderful things, it was also affordable - actually it was the only affordable option in the entire Sedona area, so we appreciated that.

As long as you are aware that this is a motel and not a hotel, your stay will be wonderful! Truthfully this motel had more amenities than some of the bigger hotels we stayed at, so don’t let the word “motel” scare you away!

The location, price and other reviews were the primary reasons for choosing this motel. I was hesitant when I made the reservation just because as a privately owned operation I did not know how well it would compare to the quality of name brand hotels. This motel had a nostalgic air about it and our room was modernly updated, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff were very accommodating and flexible with our requests. The facility is not a brand new place and does not profess to be as such. The pool and hot tub, although showing a few years of wear and tear, were very well maintained, clean and had a fun space for lounging and entertaining. The simple office space created a small nook set up for grab and go breakfast items which included coffee/juices, fresh fruits, donuts, granola, oatmeal and a few other items. Parking was free and the road was was cobbled which was appealing. Simple chairs were placed outside each door to be able to sit and enjoy the weather while sipping your morning coffee. This place has character.

Only negative was the heat had a mild odor when it turned on. The air conditioning worked well and did not have that problem.
