B+B York

The place was lovely and felt like home and cosy and not that far from town very clean . great and cheerful staff.very helpful and the Breakfast was delicious .just to say thank you to all the staff.

The only thing that I have to say is that the smell from the bathroom shower drain was very powerful so we had to keep the windows open a little over night .it seemed to be a lot more manageable when we closed the bathroom door .we didn't want to say anything about it because it looked like they we're on with it.up coming work around the BB . because of the scaffolding so they are probably sorting out the drains so not really complaining if the work is being carried out.and we we're there for one night only .

The breakfast and the afternoon tea was gorgeous and worth it! The scones were really lovely and fresh and you could tell that they were handmade. I've including 3 pictures of the afternoon tea. Necessary amount of the same picture? Yes. It was fab. FAB! The room was nice and tidy, and the best was very cosy. The decor of the place was AMAZING. Honestly, one of the prettiest places I've stayed at! The woodwork and the walls were so beautiful! The staff were so friendly and you could have a laugh. The bar was lovely, especially the agreeable prices. They kindly let me use the kitchen fridge for some Hawes Wensleydale that I needed to keep cool. There was also a lovely cat down the road who greeted me one morning - extra points. The breakfast!! I got my fill and a half. It's not just a hot breakfast, but you've got the continental as well!! It was hard to stop myself!! The B+B is half an hour (at a slower pace) away from the town attractions. There's a sainsburys down the road which was handy for affordable dinners in my room when I realised I spent faaaar too much during the day.

Now my room (room 18 I believe) was a single room, which fit me decently. I'm 11 stone and 5ft 10". I'm saying this kindly, but the shower fit me in it just about. If you're a larger person, the shower might not be the best option as it was so small. I've included a picture. The walls were also rather thin. I could hear what was going on in other rooms a bit. I unfortunately didn't bring my noise cancelling earbuds, but I recommend you bring them just in case. It wasn't dreadfully loud, but it did wake me up one night when some visitors made their way back to the B+B early in the morning. Overall, not that much bother at all! I'm no way badmouthing my experience, this is just a heads up :)

The room was very big and perfect for our needs, The location was also perfect for a 10 minute walk to the city walls and the main city sights, there are some pubs and local shops on the walk to find a meal or buy snacks.

Check In was not ideal, we had driven a long way and were 20 minutes early for check in at 3 but not allowed to check in, there were 3 more group waiting to check in and clearly as bemused as us. Breakfast was a comedy, the breakfast room is cramped. The staff member in charge was not happy when some foreign guests just entered and the staff member clearly made sure they saw the wait to be seated sign. The food was okay, eggs Benedict was enjoyed by my wife but the cooked breakfast sausage was poor quality so opted for just the bacon. The way staff worked and the strict adherence to rules was reminiscent of a 1975 hotel comedy series. My wife and I enjoyed breakfast because of this. Overall, perfect location and if you are an observer of people, breakfast is entertaining.

The B & B was in an excellent location and only a short walk into town. The staff were exceptional and so friendly they couldn't do enough to make sure the stay was perfect.The room and facilities were again clean and very comfortable. Lastly the breastfast was very tasty and great value for money. I would 100% come back and recommend to all my friends and family. Thanks B & B York for a great stay.

Absolutely nothing. The stay was brilliant and nothing needed changing at all.

The location is ideal about a 20 minute walk to the centre of York, and between 20 and 30 min walk from train station.

No dislikes, dogs are welcome at the property, im not a dog lover, but there was no issues. If you have mobility issues be aware there are lots of steps to the rooms, including an optional spiral stairwell. Steve kindly carried our cases down without us asking - thank you . The rooms are not sound proof, but the hotel is quiet so it was not an issue. The staff are friendly attentive and always available, no matter how busy they are.

The house is comfortable and welcoming. Exceptionally clean rooms and communal areas. I was a solo traveler with dog and felt very welcomed, even tho my dog was a bit excitable on arrival (he did settle, helped by the complementary goody bag and breakfast sausage!). The staff were extremely helpful, couldn’t do enough to help and I liked having clear expectations re dogs set out in their paws contract, much less stress when you know what they are! Breakfast good and, tho I didn’t use the bar or the endless tea/coffee,nice to know they were available. Loved the location which was secluded but a short walk into city centre. The shower was reliably hot and bed was comfortable. Towels fluffy, heated towel rail worked well. Can’t praise the staff enough.

Curtains in room let light in, too transparent.

There was on site parking which was plentiful (although you had to pay £5 per night) meaning there were no concerns on arrival. The location was a relatively short walk to the main town centre and the walk was easy. The B+B was quiet at night and it was easy to get into the breakfast room in a morn without any delays and the service was quick. The staff were friendly. We also got an upgrade to a suite which was unexpected and the room was huge, great facilities.

That the cost of parking wasn't included in the cost of the stay but I suppose not all visitors would drive there and it is a premium facility.

Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and food was brought quickly once choices made. Tables were spaced out, no limit on toast, juice, coffee either. The free bottled water was also a nice touch. I enjoyed the omelette and eggs Benedict, menu offered more than just the traditional full English. Our room was clean, quiet and had lots of cupboard space, more than adequate for a few days stay. Loved the wee bar too, for nice to have a quiet drink on our return from a busy sightseeing day. Staff were very pleasant, polite and eager to assist, all in all this place was a hidden gem and will hope to stay there again on our return trips to york.

My mattress was a little soft, but that’s just personal preference.

Excellent location. Walking distance to central City/entering City beside the Minster and yet the premises are in a lovely quiet street with off street parking. ( parking is charged separately). Staff were all friendly and helpful and lovely breakfast set us up for the day. Coffee machine in main dining area makes a lovely cup and for us was preferable to making an instant coffee in our room.

Personally, I would prefer that dogs are not allowed in breakfast/dining rooms.The staff member did ask us if we minded and the first dog was fine, sat quietly, but the second dog was jittery and I am only glad I wasn’t one of the close proximity diners getting the dog’s attention!

Very helpful, welcoming staff! Clean, large and airy room...Excellent breakfast...Excellent location ,perfect quiet road with a 10/15 min walk into the centre of the town. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Only one tiny 'niggle'...the lead from the kettle was too short to reach the socket so had to rearrange the mirror etc on top of unit and kneel on floor to plug it in. Only a very minor problem for us .....(plus I needed the exercise anyway to burn off the calories from the large delicious breakfast!!!)
