The room was really comfortable and a good size. The bed was very comfortable and I had the best night's sleep I think I've ever had when not at home. The bedroom and bathroom were clean. The bar was superb and the underground restaurant had a great atmosphere (as well as good food). Staff were really friendly and the location in the centre of Bowness was perfect for touring the south lakes.

Wifi wasn't brilliant on the 2nd floor but fine on the first floor and in the bar. No breakfast provided, but Mio Mondo just down the round opens at 8.30 for breakfast and is great. Would have appreciated tea bags being topped up.

Our family stayed here during our family trip to England. The location is terrific! The rooms are clean and functional, and the beds are perfect. Although we did not eat at the restaurant (my daughters fault) I did get a delicious free sample of the sights and smells coming from the kitchen.

As Americans, we expected window screens on the windows. There were none. However, after observing the same lack of window screens at every other hotel throughout England, we learned that the reason for this is that there aren't many pesky bugs to screen out! American bugs are mean and ornery, English bugs are polite and civil, just like the awesome royal citizenry.

Loved the hotel, location and the atmosphere and the attached pub.

I really couldn’t get to sleep because of the traffic noise and people talking outside late into the night . I don’t think this could be helped as the location is great but I usually stay in fallbarrow and obviously this is very quiet and relaxing . Obviously a Different experiences and not the hotels fault .

Our double room was a Lake View room and it was lovely. The room was clean and modern and cleaned daily. There is water, tea facilities, snacks all in your room on arrival. The Westmorland is in a great location next to shops, restaurants and bars and only a 5 min walk down to the Lake. It also has its own bar underneath which sells a good range of lovely drinks and also sells good food. This is the second time we have stayed here and will return again.

There is no on-site parking however we always find a space no problem in the surrounding area. There is also a pay and display car park nearby.

On a 3 night stay our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels, replenished tea, coffee and biscuits and bottles of water. Although bedroom was very small we had a large bathroom. Comfy bed with quality pillows and bedding. Great pub attached serving really nice food and friendly staff. Perfect location….good price.

Although the rooms had comfortable beds and quality bedding they are in need of a lick of paint or update/refresh. Also quite noisy and creeky as are a lot of properties in the lakes due to age. Worst part was we had pigeons cooing on our window sill at 7 waking up every morning on a 3 night stay. Maybe a little out of the control of the hotel but I do think pest control could put something down to stop them landing on the windows etc. Not exaggerating they were extremely loud and kept coming back again after scaring them off! Our room was also very small compared to others but comfortable.

Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were nice, clean and comfortable and had everything you’d need. Location is good for access to the shops, bar and lake. We didn’t have food so can’t comment but it smelled amazing so hopefully we will try next time as we’re already booked back up to stay!

We can’t really there was anything we didn’t like about the property although they don’t serve breakfast which I think would be an added bonus to this place if the possibly was there for the future.

The Westmorland was our last stop on completing the Dales Way. It is located between Bowness and Windermere in a quiet part of town. The staff were very welcoming and the room was good. We reserved a table in their restaurant and were so glad we did. Annie looked after us - she is excellent btw - and the food was superb! The bar area is a really nice place to sit in. We had a late train on leaving and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we went out exploring.

The location is great, and bus stops to Ambleside and Windemere are less than 30s away from the Inn. The room was bigger than I thought it would be which was perfect. It was clean and well kept, and sounds strange, but loved that there was hot chocolate and biscuits by the kettle - hotels never do this anymore! Also didn't get chance to eat in their restaurant, the night I planned to they were fully booked so that says a lot!

The only downside was the noise from the main road (I was in the front bedroom) but you could see the Inn had already put good windows in to reduce it, so it can't be helped and is nothing some ear plugs couldn't fix.

Easy to book, check in & out. The staff were welcoming, the room was very warm but of a good size. Bed was comfy. They offered evening meals, which we had to pre-book & excellent quality & vfm. Hotel very dog friendly. We would stay here again.

Lack of parking & Location on a main road. Although there is a car park within easy walking distance, it's not easy struggling with luggage & next day ticket starts at 8am. There were blinds at windows but light came through disturbing sleep

Location was fantastic, the staff were excellent, helpful and the food was superb, in taste and value. The staff who cleaned our rooms were so friendly and told us the best walks nearby and lots of local information we would never have known about. A lovely stay and we will certainly return again.

There wasn't anything we didn't like, we were well looked after and there was complimentary bottles of water every day. The bars of Kendal Mint Cake went down a treat too.
