The hotel is in a nice part of Devon. There are plenty of shops, including a couple of Indian takeaways, pubs and several charity shops. There is also a famous market. It is a quiet place compared to Plymouth which is much busier and is more diverse. There seems to be few buses that go into Plymouth, though the No 1 bus is leaves Tavistock to go there approximately every 20 minutes each day , except Sundays , when it is hourly. We travelled a lot by train from Plymouth during our stay: visited places such as Torquay, Paighnton . There were people on train going to festivals in Cornwall

There was nothing I would have changed . We did wish the takeaways were open a little later. The two that we used closed around 9.30 pm

Our room was clean and to a very good standard. On checking in the staff were excellent making the process clear and straight forward. We enjoyed breakfast before checking out with our order being dealt with promptly and politely.

After checking in we returned to the bar to order food, it looked like it had been busy during the day and any available tables were dirty. One of your staff was run off her feet trying to clear them. When ordering at the bar there was initially only one member of staff available and there were a number of customers waiting. Having finished our meals I returned to the bar to order more drinks and was told by staff to join a 10 deep queue again with only one member of staff serving. At this point I gave up and we went elsewhere for another drink. Overall it appeared that the bar area was understaffed because all available members were doing their best.

Tavistock is a beautiful town (although I am biased, having grown up there) and this is perfectly located for exploring. Great shops, pubs, and restaurants are very accessible. The staff were very polite and everything got sorted very quickly; check-in and check-out were very smooth, and the pub did a good and cheap breakfast on the morning of my departure. I thought accommodation close to (above) the pub might be noisy in the night; it wasn't, everything was comfy.

I really didn't have many problems -- the sink drained a bit slowly and there was a slightly odd smell in the bathroom when I first arrived. One thing worth mentioning is parking. I was only staying one night and I arrived in the evening, so I parked in a local car park without charge and headed off in the morning. But folks staying longer should be aware that they might need to look around for parking.

Excellent disability room. App service for refreshment very efficient. Staff very helpful. Nearby on street parking free and plentiful.

Not being able to take my mobility scooter to my room. This was allowed on a previous visit to the same hotel. This time I was advised that it was too heavy for the lift. When I challenged this by pre arrival email I was told it broke fire regulations. This has never happened at any other hotel I have stayed in. I had to leave the scooter in the pub. Walking even the short distance to the lift and then to my room caused me some pain.

Nice large bedroom and a Neat and tidy bathroom with easy to use shower. Over looked a road with lots of shops, but was fairly quiet. We would stay there again if and when we travel to TAVISTOK again. Good breakfast as the property is a large WEATHERSPOONS PUB. We would recommend the local TAYLORS restaurant for a evening meal if not at the pub.

It has no car park, but there is a short stay one near bye that is free over night. On road parking is for 1 hour only and TAVISTOK has a large long stay car park about 10 mins walk away.

In the heart of Tavistock . Room 101, a twin room was at the front and nice and quiet with double glazing. Beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom is refurbished with a great shower. Although there is no reception area, the staff we did meet were incredibly helpful and friendly . Tea and coffee facilities in the room with biscuits and a bottle of water. We really enjoyed our stay

A car park would have been nice. But you can use one 5 minutes away for £4 a day

Manager was very good , helpful, friendly and seemed to be hands on ,mucking in when he had a busy night in the restaurant with all new staff and his grill in the kitchen had broken down. A lovely old hotel with lots of quirky areas, rooms a good standard , comfy beds, nice feel about the place. Evening meal was good standard.

Heating in our room not working on a very cold day but think they had issues and were waiting for a repair man to come. Breakfast was not good. No eggs or marmalade available and pancakes were Rock hard served with 2 tiny pieces of cold bacon. I think a member of staff could just pop over the road to the shop and buy eggs and marmalade whilst the hotel is waiting delivery. Apart from that we would come again.

Well everything And there were more ale hand pumps on the main bar that what they were when I stayed at The White Hart in Okehampton the night before and I slept better in the bed in the room plus As the White Hart didn't have a Lift in the hotel And I had to climb up to the second floor there And this hotel was cheaper to stay at too at £45 a night The White Hart was £53 a Night So The Queens Head all in all was better value

There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel And I stayed in the same room as I did the last time I stayed at this hotel So a bonus

The staff right across the board were helpful and so enthusiastic. they really seemed to enjoy their work. The room was clean and spacious with a large bathroom and shower. The towels were nice and fluffy and the bedding was also nice. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided. Bed was comfortable and all in all a very pleasant stay. The food and drink in the pub was really good value and again staff were very efficient. Free parking not far from the pub.

TV didn't have many channels and there was a bit of mold on the shower tiles. No other complaints!
