The room was as expected. A great four poster bed with a large bath which had power jets. Don't know how good the wifi was as we used our own dongle/mi-fi. Lovely clean spacious room with coffee and tea made available. Hot water within the bathroom was always of a good temperature (unlike many other hotels we've used in the past) . A cooked scottish breakfast was included and was cooked to order (great haggis). Also the option of having a cold buffet breakfast with pastries etc. The staff were great, welcoming and always with a smile. Thanks to everyone who made our short stay so perfect.... had it not been for a prior engagement we would have stayed a third night.

Having to leave !!!

Lovely, helpful reception staff. Very nicely cooked, tasty dinner despite arriving near kitchen closure time. Cosy warm room. Very comfy bed. Easy access off the A9 & parking close to the building which was a relief on a wet night.

Bedroom had an odour of carpet freshener which was a bit unpleasant. Only tea, hot chocolate & decaf coffee sachets in the room, a bit disappointing to a caffeine addict. Shower was warm but such a tiny trickle of water & a screen would have been nicer than the shower curtain installed, though it was clean. Poached eggs for breakfast were a bit rubbery.

Big old hotel in some areas a little tired in terms of decor but don't let that put you off as staff were super and food is great. We stayed one night on NC500 route and thoroughly recommend the hotel. Staff were knowledgeable, able to recommend food/drink options and went out of their way to ensure you had a good stay. Evening meal was delicious, waitress recommended mushroom linguine [something I usually avoid as can be pile of pasta with few mushrooms thrown on top] and it was delicious probably the best I have ever had!! No other eating options nearby so suggest you book meal in the hotel. GlenMorangie distillery literally down the road.

The breakfast was excellent, varied with high quality ingredients and items in the coooked breakfast that tasted amazing. The hotel itself is a lovely building and the room was all we hoped for. The dinners were even better; the smoked salmon starter was among the best I’ve ever had, and all the mains we tried were also excellent.

The mattress was a little softer than we were used to, though very comfy.

Great location just a short distance from the main road. Room was very good, clean and spacious. The staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful and professional. The hot breakfast was also very good. We ate in the hotel both nights of our stay, and the food was excellent and well priced.

The breakfast time of 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning was disappointing. Breakfast should have been available at weekends until a later time, say 10:30 a.m., as is normally the case in other hotels we have visited.

Great location for us to do the tour of the distillery. Great size of a room, very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and understanding of my son and family with a young baby. Brilliant breakfast too

The hotel needs some work done. There were a few bad leaks just outside and inside the gents toilets. Also I heard while I was there that although there is a service charge added on to the bill for dinner. The staff don't actually get the tip. Best give that separately

Property clean and tidy. Liked that that original features had been kept such as stained glass windows. Plenty of parking. All staff extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Food (breakfast and evening meal) was very good and freshly cooked to order. Very quiet. Lidl and Home bargains stores opposite if any essentials forgotten for your stay.

carpets a little tired in places but didn’t affect our stay. Mattresses a little lumpy and could do with a thicker topper.

We loved the hotel, it’s old but we really like that aspect, the staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, we had dinner and drinks in the hotel and the food was fantastic, couldn’t fault anything and the breakfast was delicious- compliments to the chefs and kitchen and the wait staff!!

Would have been nice to have decent tea cups and glasses instead of plastic now that COVID restrictions have eased

Hotel well maintained generally and had a good feel about it. Room a good size, light and airy and heating controllable. Quiet. Own smoked salmon starter was delicious. Breakfast very generous portions - you won't go hungry! Good parking facilities. Staff very helpful but run off their feet!

Bathroom floor was sticky on shoes but ok on bare feet! Couldn't get Internet easily. Don't like paper cups for tea/coffee in rooms
