We booked as part of a large 30+ group of family and friends for our Son’s wedding. The location worked extremely well as the comfortable rooms are all self-contained, though there is plenty of room for socialising. There are some lovely local walks through the beautiful Kent countryside which were enjoyed by many of our party. Everyone agreed the food and service was excellent throughout the 2 days and we were impressed by the way the staff catered for us all so efficiently through breakfasts, lunch and dinner. The staff were friendly and professional and were more than happy to accommodate any special requests. We would definitely return and would not hesitate to recommend.

Breakfast and dinners were excellent. Rooms are clean and well placed. Surrounding area is very inviting for nice walks and the Black Horse Inn is nicely situated to explore Kent.

On arrival and being a bit early for check-in, we felt a bit ignored by the staff. We sat outside the restaurant for 20 minutes without anyone approaching us, for people new to the location that was a bit strange. A similar thing happened in the evening while sitting down outside for dinner. We had to request our order to be taken by getting inside whereas staff were passing by on a number of occasions. Again we thought it strange. The food/cook made up for it though as the dinner was excellent.

A beautiful character pub, with fabulous food and friendly staff. The accommodation is at the back of the pub - chalet/cabin style blocks. It is great that the accommodation is dog friendly! The only potential downside is that our room wouldn’t have been large enough to accommodate one of our dogs, so unfortunately we won’t be returning with a furry friend! This said, we would return for another one night stay while travelling, for the atmosphere in the pub and the food!

You have to bear in mind that the roads to get to the property are very, very narrow and not too well maintained - they are country lanes after all.

Great location, easy to find, clean, well appointed and comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great breakfast. The perfect start to our holiday.

The hotel reception closes quite early (iirc 8pm) and does not have a clear process for late arrivals. We were told one thing and upon arrival just before 11am after a long stressful journey, found the hotel changed their mind and forgot to update us with the change. An improvement would be to have this process defined. A couple of key safes in a convenient location for late arrivals might fix this... then just a case of issuing the safe access code and location... ideally by email or text so there is no chance of error. Perhaps also a small curtain over the window in the middle of the door.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a wedding in the local area. The setting was lovely with plenty to do in and around the area. A great base to explore. Although we didn't have a dog, dogs are welcome and they even have a special area in the Inn just for them and you to eat. The food was great, slightly more than I would usual pay but still lovely. Thank you to all the staff, you were fantastic. So helpful, couldn't fault them at all. All in all a perfect place for our mini break.

To be honest, not a lot. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work but that didn't effect the bathroom enough for us to say anything and there was a few tiny attention to detail areas could do with looking at but then I'm a bit of a "Monika" so I spot everything lololol.

The hotel was separate from the pub and very quiet. The staff we met were lovely and so helpful. The room was chilly but there was an electric heater we could use.

There was an issue with the shower thermostat - it was either very hot or scalding. It took a bit of force to turn the know for more cold water and we didn't want to turn it too hard for fear of breaking it. Reception wasn't open to help us so we had to report it on leaving. This is why we marked the venue down. Room wasn't as cosy as we would have liked but laminate flooring is a good choice for keeping clean. The bed was very squeaky - metal frame. One light switch was faulty.

The hotel is set in a beautiful and historical location. It was very convenient for the wedding at Longton Woods we were attending and for national trust visits. The accommodation is set on larger grounds than we expected as we thought it was just a handful of rooms on top of a pub - this is neither a good or bad thing. The breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly.

The room was on the small side for the price but sufficient for our needs for 2 nights. Uphill walk from room to restaurant - not a big deal though. Toddler tried to climb bunk bed and fell off and bumped head at one stage (after successfully climbing it the first time)- would prefer two single beds for the children ideally.

Check in was excellent, room was nice, parking plentiful, beer was good, beer garden lovely, diner superb, pub is very special and well worth a visit. Mason made us very welcome. Breakfast lovely much enjoyed and the staff were first class. Room was nice we stayed in Primrose, shower and sink unit modern. Very handy after a long drive from Germany good place to stay

The access to this pub is not the easiest, in fairness the staff e mail written directions which were very good if leaving the M20 at junction 7, we diverted and got a bit snarled up. However the Hotel has done their best to give good directions so there really is not much more to do, moral of the story is follow the directions from Junction 7! The shower was a bit temperamental to get temperature right.

really quaint pub with lots of character. Food excellent. we had breakfast and evening meals for our two night stay and I couldn’t fault anything. bed rooms are spacious, very clean and bed is very comfortable, shower had good power and easy to use to get the temperature correct. lovely staff and fabulous views of the gorgeous countryside.

there are some steep hills which for people with mobility issues could be an issue however I think if this was raised when booking the owners would allocate a room nearer to the pub

A fantastic B&B: my room was quiet and peaceful, my bed was wonderfully comfy and everything was clean and beautifully presented. The location is stunning, the pub itself is brimming over with rustic charm and the owner, John, is a very friendly and extremely helpful chap who makes a point of overseeing breakfast each morning to get to know his guests. All of his staff are polite and helpful and Michelle - who manages reception - is wonderful. I can't recommend The Black Horse Inn highly enough. Thank you for a lovely stay - I will definitely be back.
