This is a hidden gem and the cutest hotel. Beautiful interiors, extremely cosy, lovely staff, would definitely recommend a stay!

There isn’t currently a restaurant, but they are looking to introduce pizzas in the near future

The hotel is lockated in a peaceful and beautiful surraundings. The rooms spacious and equiped with all the applinces and amnities for a wonderful vaccation. I will definatly come again to this " home away from home" as me and my wife called it. Richard the owner and staff were very helpful and we got very good recomondations for restaurants, and places of interest and daytrips in the whole region and beyond.

What's there not to like?

Absolutely beautiful place, amazing grounds for the kids and dog with lovely views. Studio with seperate bedroom for the children was lovely, modern and stylish. 100% would come back. Located in the middle of Looe, Polperro with Talland Bay straight infront, you simply can't go wrong. Staff, absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, much appreciated spending time with Lulu whilst we were at the wedding.

We felt the lodge we stayed in was not very clean. Our kids room was full of dust and cobwebs all Over and under the beds and side table. There were lots of dead bugs on the carpet all around the baseboards so feel the place could do with a deep vacuuming.

We had the lower deck perfect for a family of 4. The room was clean, well laid out and quiet. Rich and Johnny were friendly and helpful with local recommendations.

There were no black out curtains or thick curtains in the main area which would have helped with being able to sleep in.

Brilliant location with stunning views and lots of outdoor space for the children. Our family studio was very well presented with obvious care and attention made to every detail. The owners and staff were very personable and went above and beyond to help with any queries or requests. Easy access to both Looe and Polperro where we had two very enjoyable meals out and used the local taxi service which was very reliable.

We couldn’t fault the property.

Lovely welcoming coastal decor/feel to the whole property and host was very friendly and recommended places. Comfy bed and great bathroom; amazing toiletries and 24/7 hot water! Fabby bottle of local apple juice (dont drink alcohol) upon arrival 💜 Just a 2 min drive into Looe and great rural views. Didn't explore the gardens but they looked fabby for an evening/afternoon chill. Disappointed that the bar wasn't open and food not available but it looked a lovely area and saw that some people had takeaways.

Minor things only - 4 hangers for clothes and a few hooks for said hangers, no power point for charging electric toothbrushes. Is perfect for a few days, but needed a bit more for the full week. Pillows too soft (personal thing).

We loved everything about the property. Grounds were stunning, suite had everything we needed and more. The finishing touches and luxury items didn't go unnoticed. That said, with a baby and 4 year old in tow we were still made to feel incredibly welcome! It was a home from home but with better towels and bedding! The grounds were family friendly with lots of open space, table football and table tennis, not to mention beautiful flowers and breathtaking views. The bar/lounge area was warm and welcoming after a day exploring. We enjoyed many a cocktail and board game by the roaring log fire. Rich and Jonny were cracking hosts and made us feel very welcome in their beautiful hotel which is clearly a labour of love. We hope to return in the summer months 😍

We absolutely adored our stay at the gate and it exceeded our expectations. We spent our first night in the shepherds hut, which was absolutely perfect, with a beautiful bath and incredible view. We were welcomed with a cold bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely touch after a 4 hour drive! The rest of the week we spent in the loft, which again had a bath tub with beautiful views, a super comfortable bed and large shower. The small kitchenette is perfect for creating easy and quick meals. Rich and Jonny went above and beyond, giving us great recommendations on where to go, and sorting out a fire pit for one of the evenings. We already can’t wait to come back to stay at the gate!

We stayed at The Gate for a short mini-moon following our wedding. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy few days. The property and grounds are beautiful. The room was spacious and so cosy with great decor and a balcony with beautiful views. The bed was the comfiest! The owners Jonny and Rich were so welcoming and friendly - they gave us lots of useful recommendations for places to visit and eat locally, and we were given a surprise bottle of Prosecco and a couple of other extra gifts on arrival too. Would definitely stay again and can’t wait to return!
