Convenient location for walking to Clifton’s best roads for restaurants, shops and to the suspension bridge but in a quiet square itself. Wonderful and helpful staff even helping me late at night with printing something. Loved the way the Victoria Square do breakfasts, truly exceptional and so lovely to sit down and have your pre ordered breakfast brought to you; no going back and forward to the buffet and must be so much less waste for the hotel and therefore good for the environment too. Such a wonderful start to have a relaxing breakfast. Had a lovely spacious, bright, relaxingly decorated room.

Parking can be tricky in the car park but we always found something on the road outside when we couldn’t find a space which wasn’t an issue as left before controlled times started .

We were celebrating on a budget and went for the room that sleeps three. There was a large double and a made up sofa bed which was pretty comfortable. Clean and everything we needed at a good price. Just for info we had to change from a Saturday to Sunday night and price instantly dropped by £100 and free parking on a Sunday too. The car park is quite poorly signed (literally quite narrow drive past the front door and round the back with room for approx 18 cars) which I guess is not enough if all guests arrive in a car but we got the last space so all good. Welcome was really good but downgraded slightly as we were going to have a drink in the bar before our table booking but staff member said be back in a moment and after 5 minutes left waiting, we left and went straight to the restaurant. Hotel in a nice quiet area opposite a park area. Didn't have breakfast do can't comment. Would stay again.

Poor service for bar

My room was comfortable and had everything I needed for my stay, including a fan which was a relief as the weather was quite hot and stuffy that weekend. The location was great; less than 5 min walk to the wedding I was attending at Goldney Hall, with lots of nice cafes and restaurants within walking distance too. Initially, there was an issue with the room key card, but the lady at reception was very helpful and fixed that straight away. She was very kind and friendly when I checked in as well.

Parking spaces were available at the back of the hotel, but I didn’t like the uncertainty of not knowing whether there would be space there on not when I arrived. The area nearby is all permit parking only, so I was worried about where I would’ve parked if there hadn’t been space. Luckily, there was space when I arrived, but it was a struggle on the Saturday afternoon and the car park was full to capacity. I would’ve preferred the certainty of knowing that parking was booked with the room and that there definitely would’ve been room for me to park.

Check in was amazing. I was driving late and the lady called me to ensure when I ll be arriving. She helped me find the reception as there are two buildings and she helped me with my luggage. Very kind!!! She also explained on the map what I could visit with some tips! Thank you. Room was spacious, parking available and when full, on street parking just opposite the hotel. Internet was fine as well

Room was spacious but a bit noisy as the rooms are on street. Also it was cold and the heaters were not working. There was a fun in the room and there wasn't another mode to make it work as a heater. There was no hot chocolate, just tea and coffee. The small market in Victoria Square was nice and also I enjoyed walking to the suspended bridge and the downs

It was not the first time that I stayed at this hotel and I could appreciate it once more. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The day I arrived it was extremely hot and I arrived in a time frame in which check-in was still not possible (it is available from 3 pm). Nevertheless, the woman in the back office (I regret not asking her name) saw that the room I booked was already available and I could access it in advance. Everyone was really nice also when I asked for an invoice for my institution, as it was a work-related trip. When I asked for an additional towel I was provided with one immediately. The room was really nice, no AC but two windows ensured enough breeze (it was the beginning of June). The day of check out I was able to leave my luggage and pick it up at a later time.

Fantastic location on a pretty square, just a couple of minutes walk to the shops and restaurants in Clifton. Gorgeous listed building. Warm welcome on reception. Comfy bed with clean crisp linen and a good hot shower. Slept with the window open (there was a fan but we didn't use it) and had a peaceful nights sleep. Great to have free parking so centrally located. Excellent guide to the hotel and the city provided by email.

Access to the rear carpark is a bit tricky to find and then navigate. You can't see if another vehicle is leaving and if one is, you have to reverse round quite a narrow bend and back into the road. Ideally send your passenger round to check ! A bit more info about this in advance would be nice. The carpark isn't huge.

The after service when we left with the complimentary breakfast, great Breakfast and good location for the Downs. Very amenable staff who were keen to sort out any problems and try to rectify them .Nice Park nearby and amazing local shops and restaurants. Easy walk to the suspension bridge. Nice and clean and tidy room which would have been fine if on another floor. Would now recommend to stay at.

Put in the downstairs room as we had a dog. Lack of parking. There would have been enough but some people had parked selfishly and taken up 1/ and a 1/2 spaces. If they marked out the parking spaces if would make life easier and get more cars in. Also need to explain that we would be downstairs if we had a dog.

the room accommodated all three of us comfortably. It was very clean and reception staff were friendly and efficient. It was well located within the city and we were close enough to walk to famous suspension bridge. We only stayed there 1 night as a journey break on way to Cornwall but having made this flying visit we are thinking of coming back for a few nights to see the sights of Bristol itself! Only downsides were not being made aware of the Clean Air charges for driving through part of the city to get to the hotel. May be worth adding that to the accommodation info so folk aren't caught unaware. Also we were fortunate to have stayed on a Sunday otherwise we would have had to pay the hotel extra for parking.........on their property!!! (Free on a Sunday but £9 per day every other day)

Nothing bar the unknown clean air charges for driving through the city

The room was nice, clean and quiet. The staff was pleasant. Hostel is situated next to small shops, pubs and coffee shops in a pretty area.

The reception opening hours are quite restricted. We arrived at 3pm for check-in but it's important to note that reception is closed earlier in the day. No need to try and come before that time as no one will be here to welcome you. Although we didn't use the breakfast service, we were a bit surprised to hear how early it starts and especially considering it seems to be based on a "1st arrived, 1st served" system which doesn't garantee you an actual breakfast if you come later in the morning.

This is a classic, small hotel in a beautiful location. The staff were warm and welcoming and happy to help. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, especially with the daily housekeeping. Clifton is a lovely area to wander around but there is also a super convenient bus stop right outside the hotel.

The furnishings around the hotel are a quite dated and the room was small but it's a historical building so it comes as part of the charm. I would also warn guests who have trouble with stairs - I didn't see a lift and there are quite a few stairs.
