Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort - SHA Extra Plus

The Outrigger is really a top hotel! One of the best we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels around the world. The service is exceptional. The staff is so friendly and they fulfill every wish! The hotel facilities and rooms are very good. The food is really very good. The hotel is also great for families. We were there with our 3 year old and 6 month old daughter and my mother. There is a kids club. The room is lovingly furnished with wooden toys. The caregivers were so nice and sweet to our kids. Were able to drop them off with a clear conscience. They also made great things together. What we also liked very much that it is not too touristy where the hotel is located. You have your peace and quiet here. We traveled afterwards to Koh Lanta in a 5 star hotel, which was twice as expensive. The rooms, the staff, the kids club, the food etc. was all worse than at the Outrigger. I really recommend the Outrigger Hotel to everyone.The hotel is really unique good. We will be happy to come back! :-).

We chose Khao Lak because it is supposed to be quiet and unspoilt and we didn't want to be at a party resort. The hotel is in a lovely position right on the beach with spectacular sunsets. The pool is a great size and if you are there early in the morning you can sometimes be the only one there. We only had breakfast a few times but there was a good choice. The staff are wonderful in this hotel. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Another bonus was the great small beach shack type restaurants within easy reach of the hotel if you fancied eating out of the hotel

This is very much a family friendly resort so if you are travelling without children you should bear this in mind. The quietness of the hotel and beach were spoilt a couple of times by very loud wedding parties in the neighbouring hotel The Avani, thumping music from 11am to 5pm which could be heard right at the other end of the beach a couple of kilometres away. If the resort as a whole wants to remain an oasis of peace I think this is something that needs to be addressed.

Staying at this resort was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Unlike other properties I frequented in Thailand, here it is easy to understand that the owners invest a lot in the constant maintenance of rooms, gardens and equipment on the beach. So, no beach beds with ugly plastic coverings, signs of humidity and rust, bad smells, tired bed mattresses bristling with springs and so on. Everything is perfect and made having in mind good taste (the interior architecture of the villas, Cape Cod style, is bright), comfort (starting from the bed mattresses) and functionality. Another peculiarity, very rare, is that at Outrigger the management is present, visible, attentive, and not barricaded in some office. The staff is motivated, competent and kind, the barman is a good connoisseur of western cocktails. Excellent and rich breakfast. Lunch and dinner menu also includes non-Thai specialties and is translated into well-crafted dishes that can be enjoyed by candlelight on the beach. For families with small children (here numerous and not always polite) there is also a children's playroom with dedicated nannies and a large shallow pool.

This place is like paradise! The whole accomodation is very beautifully furnitured and very clean and new. But the best is the staff. All workers are incredible friendly, talkative and helpful. They arrange everything you need and support you in every case or problem. We felt very welcomed and comfortable at Outrigger.

The beach is really accessible from the hotel. It's very beautiful and feels more untouched. Also has good facilities and free kayaks. Breakfast is really good too.

The hotel restaurant is very expensive and food is only OK, nothing mind blowing. It really makes no sense eating there when 50 meters nearby there's a cheaper and better beach restaurant.

The hotel is wonderfull located at the beach. The restaurant for breakfast, lunch and diner is at the beach. With the fresh wind from sea is very comfortable the have your meals here. The breakfast was moderate, not many choices and no buffet available. The infinity pool is great, just at the beach end. The spacious rooms are nicely renovated and well decorated. All functions very well. The rooms are very quit.

To many stairs to the entrance of the hotel. Not easy to enter the hotel and to my knowledge there was not elevator available. Breakfast could/should have been better at the 4 start hotel.

It felt as if time moves slowly at this location with me staying for only three nights and felt like have been here for weeks. Wished could have stayed more. One has to visit and experience the word OUTRIGGER by themselves.

Nothing to complaint at all. The one who complaints might be an extreme pessimist looking for bad things only and if not able to find one then probably generate.

Liked - a.) the awesome location, b.) the always pleasant, smiling and helpful staff, c.) the property lay-out/architecture d.) the cocktail options

Did not like - a.) the limited shower options in the room, b.) limited breakfast options, c.) no massage options, d.) too many lizards.

Staff is very competent and friendly, cleanliness and safety has high value and is top. We had a garden suit for 3 persons and it is spacious and well equiped. The beach is awsome and not crowded. The fitness is small but well equiped and clean, good opening hours ( 6am to 9 pm)

For beimg a 5 star rated resort it did not fulfill our expectations on the breakfast buffet (example: limite variety of fresh fruits, ham& cheese ) also the one pool available where both kids and adoults have to find room is below what we have seen in other 5 star resorts. The massage , wellnes is limited to three outdoor hoods by the beach where all guests pass by going to the beach. 4 stars would be more suitable for this resort.

I usually don't review hotels but had to make an exception for the fantastic staff and hospitality at Outrigger Khao Lak. I stay at many hotels and never experienced such accommodating, understanding staff that truly go above and beyond for the guests. The resort is very relaxing, the pool right next to the beach is amazing, the beach itself is beautiful, and again, the staff is just so so nice. I truly had an amazing stay.

My only bad experience was with the food. The burger I ordered made me a bit sick. My partner didn't have any problems with the Thai food she ordered. That being said, the beach outside the hotel has some fantastic restaurants, so I wouldn't let this affect my decision so much anyways. It was all amazing otherwise.
