Royal Rose Hotel Xinsheng

This is a nice little international hotel with high standards and good number of international guests, with good amenities and nice rooms. The only drawbacks are probably related to why it has better pricing that similar hotels: the staff does not speak English and the hotel is actually in the middle of a residential side street. As a result, you cannot just pop out the front door and see a Starbucks, as it were, you need to walk through a few narrow Taiwan style streets and then you are in an extremely central location at the heart of the city. I was a bit surprised that they did not speak English and that I had to use my Chinese (for example, all the temperature controls and remotes are in Chinese only and the front desk speaks Chinese). If you can deal with that, it is a clean hotel and it was an enjoyable stay both solo and with my family. The views are not great, it is very much a neighborhood experience. I was surprised at the number of foreigners (laowai) staying there. I would return as the value for money is nice and the location grows on you. Tea kettle and fridge in the room, big screen TV, bathroom is well above average for Taiwan. Staff was great.

I was surprised that no one in the whole place spoke English. My Mandarin is passable but my reading isn't good, so I was confused by some of the items being only in Chinese. However, they were extremely helpful and friendly. Staff was attentive and fast.

The room was exceptionally clean and the free wifi was easy to access. Definitely spacious enough for one person, and had free body wash and shampoo in the shower! The free cookie and tea service was such a gift. The area is beautifully decorated and they have a wide assortment of treats to choose from. It's open from 7am -11pm and accessible your entire stay!

There is a sign that request guests to be quiet after 10pm. However, the walls were very thin and other guests did not abide by these rules. I was woken up multiple times throughout the night because of other guests yelling.

Very nice place, with really friendly staff, good location and good value for money.

The beds are a little hard (common for the region) and the room was quite small.

Perfect location of few minutes walking to Zhongxiao Xinsheng (Blue and Orange lines) MRT station, few convenience stores are around and some restaurants in the area as well. Cozy, clean and comfortable.

Not always stable Wi-Fi. Could be noisy if there are guests in others rooms as noice cancellation is quite poor.
