The Royal Kandyan

Very nice hotel. We were greeted upon arrival with a delicious apple juice and a cold flannel during check-in. We were then shown to our enormous room which had a very comfy king-size bed and desk/chair, armchair, luggage table and wardrobe. There is a very nice pool which we dipped our feet into. We ordered room service which was very good. We had an issue with the bill which was quickly resolved on check out by the efficient reception team. The staff were courteous, friendly and approachable. Great value for money.

The wifi is not great, it's an open network that drops and the speed isn't the best compared to other hotels we've stayed at in Kandy. The hotel is sandwiched between two busy roads so there was some traffic noise during the night, however it didn't stop us from sleeping well. The bathroom floor wasn't quite cleaned properly everywhere but it's not a big deal.

The staff was so friendly. Room was comfy, big and spacious. The room service was quickly attending for our requests The pool has a view over the mountains. Meals are tasty and good variety of food. It has Indian, Chinese and western varieties. The dinner and breakfast both were buffet.

When I was booking through booking.com and my room charges was usd38 + usd 6 for taxes. All together usd44. But when I was checking out and paying for my stay in the hotel, it was usd52. I was wondering about the additional charges. But the front desk told me, it was the invoice they got from the booking.com website. I need to clarify this from the website

Convenient location and clean comfy rooms very good attentive and happy staff

Need to have a shower curtain in the bath tub. Spilling water over the floor makes it a bit hazardous. Food was good but would have been nicer if the food taste is improved a bit more as they can really do that for the price

This hotel went above and beyond my expectations. The hotel staff met every one of my needs and even went beyond what was expected. Even when I was not able to move around due to health reasons, they did the best they could to make me comfortable. The bed were very comfortable and housekeeping came every day to make sure that I had everything I needed. The entire staff was very hospitable. It is right next to many stores and close to the city so everything that you will need and want is very close by. By the end of my trip, the staff had become my friends. The customer care of this hotel is excellent, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Kandy, Sri Lanka. The only improvements I would suggest for this hotel would be the WiFi and laundry facilities in each floor which would have made the stay better. Overall, a phenomenal experience at this hotel. Thank you to everyone who helped me!

Better to improve wifi connection

It had a comfortable feeling and the staff were very friendly, and accommodated our requests for things like leaving the pool open later than normal.

Sometimes drink orders were slow to arrive or a but muddled. The location isn’t perfect for seeing the sights in Kandy if you want to walk. But we had a car so it was fine.

Not enough variety of breakfast should add boiled eggs, mesh potato and salad.

Very courteous staff, excellent checkin and checkout process, restaurant serves a combination of Lankan and continental cuisine. Rooms are neat and comfortable. Staff went out of the way to make it possible for me to witness Perahera

The breakfast was very good initially, but it was inconsistent. However, once I made this known to the staff it was corrected.

The hotel offers good amenities such as a pool, a coffee shop and a souvenir shop.

The food was very tasty and the rooms were very comfortable

I would prefer a few extra tea bags, creamers and sugar sachets in the rooms.
