Morven Hotel Colombo

The Hotel in general was great, good value for money,the staff were very attentive and always ready to attend any guest request, the location as well is a 10. Very close by with Liberty Plaza Mall. We booked 2 room accommodations only, both rooms were very spacious and comfortable, it was possible to take breakfast at the price of usd 10 per person we did take twice it was good a little variety for everyone maybe a few more option(continental) would have been great , we also dined at the hotel twice and the food was very good. Towels were changed everyday and amenities were replaced if used.Unfortunately the roof top area was under construction but still a very well maintained swimming pool was accessible.

No Mini bars in the room,we had to ask for it, but it was quickly sorted out free of charge.

Great location. We stayed 3 nights before leaving SL. Stayed in the suite with the sofas and TV. Exactly as shown in the pics. Spacious, comfortable, clean and had berthing we needed inc garbage cans, coffee, tea, water bottles, extra towels, toiletries, a working TV with movie channels. Cafe / restaurant 1st floor. Food or room service until 10:30pm. Lots of local eateries around hotel too. Excellent staff. Mr. Sumudu Tilakaratne (front desk manager) was always there with a smile to greet and help us with anything we needed. He’s the best part of the hotel. Don’t hesitate. This hotel was recently renovated and a great value compared to other hotels in the area. Thanks!

Good sized room, which was very comfortable. There is a quiet pool area at the top. Good facilities overall.

Staff definitely need training as to how to welcome guests. Hospitality is everything and we were disappointed at the lack of acknowledgement on our arrival. A simple 'good afternoon/hello, thank you for your patience' would have been enough. Please treat all guests the same, whether they are locals or not...

At first I was provided with a regular room (but with ocean view), later upon requesting the hotel staff to change my room due to some issues addressed, I was asked to wait for a day due to over-occupancy. However after one day I was upgraded to suite level and the experience was absolutely enthralling. Thank you for the brilliant support. I owe you!

There was nothing which I didn't like. From the amazing friendly kitchen staff, to the extremely courteous and friendly management staff - everything was top-notch!

Location is perfect. It is close to the beach, Galle Face Green, shopping malls and several restaurants. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. We had an issue with our aircon which was resolved immediately. It is ideal for a short stay in Colombo.

Room was a bit smaller than expected. It would have been nice to know upfront that some of the areas are being renovated and are therefore not available.

The location of this place is hotel is awesome. More than the location the people work there like everywhere in srilanka are awesome. Specially the guys who work late night. The was very clean and the washrooms are 2nd most important after comfortable bed. And both bed and washroom was nice and clean.

I booked online the booking.com didn't have any update on hotel policy about not allowing customers to have ocean view due to protest. It wasn't a big deal I prefer staying in a room which had a view. I'm always willing to pay extra if need it.

Very helpful staff. Arranged a taxi for us when we arrived at 3am. Comfortable rooms. Restaurant was open despite low season. Lovely rooftop bar (no alcohol, but staff had no problem with us drinking our own beers) Great location - supermarket nearby and easy to get tuktuks or walk to sights

Insects in the room/bathroom. We left a packet of biscuits on the side table and they were covered in ants No breakfast buffet during our stay - but this was clearly due to low guest numbers and they provided us with a decent enough breakfast The ac isnt very powerful and we had to use the ceiling fan as well The hotel was pleasant but the price is a little high

Hotel located at comfortable district, near to Kollupitiya train station. Nearest sandy best beach, if you would goes by train, is about 10 km from Colombo at Mount-Lavinia train station. "Gale Face" just 7-10 min by walk, but of course you can take tuk-tuk or bus No. 100 to go there. Please note that Gale Face is not a beach for swimming, but place for walkings around, relaxing, shopping in Gale Face Green shopping mall. If you wish to go to nearest sandy beach - the Mount-Lavinia is highly recommended. Hotel kept well overall. There are swimming pool and fantastic Top roof bar on 7th floor. Especially I recommend to ask SUDARA (name of the guy) who is waiter, bartender and hostes in both restaurants, on ground level and top floor. Sudara is very professional, friendly and ready to help at any time person! Overlooking from top floor bar is recommended for every evening / sunsets.

it was the decor & pool that initially attracted us to this hotel, large rooms and location for doing the Colombo, Kandy, Ella train journey

despite leaving the “please make up our room” sign on door we were very disappointed to return after two days in Kandy/Ella to a room that hadn’t been made up/ cleaned, bins hadn’t been emptied & bugs were around as a result - this was addressed immediately after I reported this to reception.

10/10 stay with full privacy and fast & easy check in process, they don’t ask for unnecessary information. rooms are elegant and actually looks similar to the pictures. very clean too. amazing 10/10 food from the restaurant. mix fried rice had as much as meat& seafood as rice which mean you get the food worth the price . keep up this food quality. and good taste too. double A/c systems in case one is not good enough for you. good proper shower with hot water. rooftop is a great place for photos ;) thank you for the best stay.

thoughts to improve: maybe you can provide floor towels and tissue box, it’s kinda necessary. but they did provide at request so it’s all good . full size mirror is needed in room , can’t see the full body for the lady to get dressed:)
