Casa Grande Do Bachao

A very unique estate that was everything we had hoped for plus more! Fabulous location, peaceful surroundings, views to take your breath away. Swimming pool, on site dinning for breakfast and dinner. Both meals were prepared with exceptional care, and artistry, served in a beautiful dining room. Our room was large and very comfortable. There were several rooms open for sitting, reading, chess, even a pool table. We highly recommend CasaGrande Do Bacho. You will love it.

The only issue we had was with the wifi. The thick stone walls make for difficult access. There is a sitting room close to the router that works well for wifi, though.

We chose this hotel because of the great reviews, but it completely surpassed our expectations! It’s about 25 mins from Santiago, but worth the drive into the mountains. The location and the views from our room were completely stunning! We booked a premium room, and it was very lovely, beautifully furnished (as is the whole building) and very comfortable. We were also pleased to find we had a little balcony where we could relax, admire the views and have a drink in the evenings. I imagine all the bedrooms are lovely, as the whole building is very tastefully furnished with interesting antiques and beautiful decorations. We pre-booked dinner in the hotel one evening, and it was absolutely delicious and excellent value. Highly recommended. Breakfast also was a feast, with delicious, high quality meats, cheeses, bread, preserves, cereals, and an amazing tortilla. The chef was kind enough to explain to me how to improve my own tortilla recipe at home! One of the best things about this place was the kind and considerate hosts and staff. The welcome and service was impeccable, we were looked after extremely well, and we enjoyed conversations with our hosts. Even the little dog and cat that live there were delightful little friends for the duration of our stay. This was an unforgettable stay and one of the highlights of our holiday. We hope to return again and again.

We have no complaints at all

Beautiful views in great location just outside Santiago. It was very quiet, almost like a library, so not for people who need buzz around them. The breakfast was fantastic and we love having a 'no choice' dinner (21.30 is quite late for the Brits!) and much of it was very good. The pool was lovely too, if a bit refreshing!

It wasn't that easy to get a glass of wine in the evenings before dinner.....but we managed to track someone down.

What a stunning place set in a lovely scenic area. A great place to enjoy a relaxing holiday away from everything including telephone coverage. But the WiFi is available throughout the installation. Very well kept historical place with luxurious comforts of a 4stars hotel. Breakfast was excellent. Would recommend having dinner there. It's freshly cooked, adapted to special dietary requirements and served professionally in a charming dining room. The prices for these extras are very good and saves you time driving out to find somewhere else to eat. Great hosts and very professional staff.

The setting is amazing, in an old monastery. Wonderfully decorated. Our room was fabulous. Gigantic. Two huge beds, very comfortable. Great bathroom, with an enormous bath and separated shower. Breakfast had a nice variety of food. A bottle of Cava was available for Mimosa! Coffee and tea were available throughout the day in the sitting room. Dinner didn't offer choices but was delicious. Service is outstanding. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about what to visit in the region. Our stay was amazing and we would love to come back.

Internet is not always at its best.

Property is at the top of a 5km tarmac track through the woods and sits overlooking a deep valley of forest. It’s very remote and peaceful. We sat on the terrace in the evenings while the sunset. The lounges are beautiful with an honesty bar. Rooms were superb, we had a balcony which faces south. Breakfast buffet was fantastic

We would have liked to eat dinner there but it isn’t served until 21.30 which is too late for us. We were told the food is cooked by the owner who works in the day. Other residents said it was excellent.

An amazing place which is really remote perched up in the hills. Various lounges to use. Lovely clean swimming pool with sun loungers around it. Excellent buffet breakfast. A beer tap you can use anytime (sign for your drink). We were given a room on the second level which had a lounge as well as a bedroom which was a real bonus. So, if you want somewhere quiet and peaceful out in the country, this is it.

We would have loved to have eaten in the evening but 2130 hrs is just too late for us to eat.

We liked everything! This place is unique, it has a special calm atmosphere but all the infrastructure is there. People were very nice. The dinner - delicious. Special thanks to a man in the restaurant who allowed us to have breakfast at 11:02 because we horribly overslept. But that's only because the bed was so comfy. Highly recommend this place to everyone who likes rural, remote hotels in nature.

A stunning former monastery, exceptionally beautiful. The hosts Javier and Begonia have their hearts in the place. It has unique character and warmth. Our suite, Maestro Mateo was huge, comfortable with wingback armchairs perfect for admiring the Mountain View from the balcony and reading. The suite design was creative and beautifully executed. The bath was huge for two with great water pressure and abundant hot water. The homemade breakfasts and dinners were delicious and varied. a terrific value.

We loved it all so much, we extended our stay- twice!

An old monastery, away from the city, beautifully renovated, offered the perfect place for visiting Santiago de Compostela. Wonderful breakfasts, delicious dinners and impeccable service made our stay very pleasant. The hosts are extremely knowledgeable about what to visit and are eager to share their experiences. Altogether, our stay at Casa Grande do Bachao was really the highlight of our tour of Galicia, and we would gladly return to this outstanding place.
