Hospedería Monástica Pax

We had to stay in Leon for a week unexpectedly to get care for an injury on the Camino. Used the international service at HM Regla hospital which was superb. The staff of the Hospederia were so friendly and accommodating, it decreased the trauma of all this. Stayed in room with view of Plaza del Grano. Had a recliner which was great for my injury. Because of the unexpected length of our stay, we had to change rooms after a few days. They gave us a plaza view as requested and moved the recliner to our new room which ordinarily did not have one! The convent chapel is accessed right off the Lobby— beautiful, historical retablo and a unique painting you can ask the nuns to let you see in a small side chapel. The nuns were also concerned about my injury and supportive. I attended morning Laudes every day and evening mass. Couldn’t choose a better place to go through treatment and recuperation.

Great location on a lovely square in the old town. Rooms big and beds comfortable. We paid extra for a view and were not disappointed. Our room overlooked the square. There were a few restaurants on the square serving drinks and food. Hotel parking useful. Easy walking distance to all the sights and lots of bars and restaurants.

Parking area a little awkward to get into and out due to two big gates operated by reception. Needed to ask reception where the parking was as it's not signposted. The square could be noisy late at night. Breakfast a bit meagre.

The staff was great! They were very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. Also you could not ask for a better location, in the middle of the old city. There is parking on site which made staying there even more convenient. On top of that, it was nice that they had options to sleep a group of four in one room (though a little crowded, it was clean and made the stay affordable for us).

Even though our room had AC, we could not find a way to get the room a comfortable temperature. Though we tried different settings on the thermostat, it didn’t seem to make a difference. In the end, we slept with the window open which worked well (as the temperature does drop to a comfy level at night).

Everything, beautiful location in quiet historic, central, piazza. The room and bathroom were enormous with beautiful fixtures. The bed was also enormous and so comfortable.with The linen was beautiful quality and the enormous whirl pool bath was divine. Also the optional Pilgrim blessing given by the resident nuns was sweet and showed the historic relationship between the Church and the Camino pilgrims The stay was so very cheap for what was given

Nothing, but we did not take the option of breakfast which we had read was regarded as over priced but we don't know.

Very large comfortable room with two enormous beds. Great location, short walk to Cathedral and City centre. All staff were very welcoming and friendly. Secure parking for motorcycle only 9€ per night. Interesting meeting with Camino pilgrims.

We didn’t eat on site as dinner didn’t start until 9.00 pm. Too late for us. (However, good local bars on square outside hotel entrance with food available from 7pm. Also, short walk to Plaza Mayor where plethora of bars, restaurants etc.) Plumbing a little noisy and chairs need felt pads to stop awful sound when moved.

Reception staff greeted us at the hotel entrance and showed us where to park. Motorcycles were welcomed and parking was very secure. Set in a quiet location in the heart of the Old Town of León, so within easy walking distance of tge sights, bars and restaurants. The fridge in the room was very efficient and quiet. Lovely peaceful ambience throughout the building and reception staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The air conditioning ran very quietly but would not boost to cool the room, which became very warm.

Wonderful access to historic sites, cafes, especially in the square directly outside the front door, everything was well within walking distance. All the Staff were helpful, especially the lady at the front desk, nothing was too much trouble.

Absence of a kettle and the ability to make coffee, tea in the room. If the hotel did not want such articles in the room, they could be put into the common room with the other facilities, such as magazines, books and lounges.

Great hotel room - very spacious, lovely shower with the added bonus of a bath; and really comfortable bed. The reception staff (particularly the Italian women who complete our check-in) were very friendly and helpful!

Tea- and coffee-making facilities in the hotel room is always a nice bonus. It's nice to be able to make yourself a nice morning tea or coffee when you first wake-up. But, couldn't fault anything really - it was a lovely experience in a very peaceful location.

The staff were really friendly and spoke English. The hotel is great value for money and situated in a quiet part of the old town. It has a great quality of finish to the rooms. The only problem we had was a basin in the bathroom which leaked. It wasn’t fixed during our stay (2 nights), but the receptionist was able to stop the water from being hazardous on the tiles. She put a bucket and towels underneath the leak. It worked. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and would certainly return. León is a wonderful city.

Perhaps the leak could have been fixed, but there was not a real problem.

The Monastica Pax is literally twenty yards from the Camino. As I know Leon fairly well (so I thought!) I decided to try and locate the hotel from the cathedral. No need a s the square where the hotel is situated is just off the main route into the city from the Camino Frances. Excellent place which is on an old square with restaurants and bard, and minutes from the Plaza Mayor and the cathedral. Excellent value for money; I would recommend anyone who wishes for a 'rest-day' from the Camino to stay here. Also - a ten-minute walk to RENFE and bus terminals.
