The property was a beautiful old hotel. There is a 5min walk to the spa. The spa is so relaxing and is situated in a picturesque setting in the mountains. The Roman ruins are amazing to see too.

The room we got was only accessible by stairs. The AC really didn’t work well and it was 45°C (113°F). It was unbearable. We thought that leaving the ac running while we were out of the room would help, but it didn’t. Heat rises!! There was also a bad cat urine smell outside our room. When you go to a spa you have to get your hair wet. There’s no conditioner for your hair available unless you want to purchase a large bottle in the gift shop. Kind of crazy when you’re paying for a room.

This is a Spanish thermal spa resort in a lovely location by the Rio Segura. Don’t expect ‘a US /global’ luxury experience. This is a long way from the tourist areas and so do not expect staff to speak English etc. The Termas hotel is a gorgeous building (and is the best choice) - make sure that you go to floor -2 to see the old spa which dates from Roman times (still working) and the Arabic Dome on floor 1. Rooms are comfortable with fridge, air etc (no tea/coffee). There are 3 hotels, 2 bars and 2 restaurants on site. There are also bus loads of day trippers. The draw are the thermal pools which have been used continuously since Roman times. Free entry for guests to the massive indoor/outdoor complex which is enormously good fun whilst relaxing. Swim caps and flip flops are required and can be bought at pool reception. There is a ‘thermal circuit’ at extra cost which includes 15 saunas and pools. Numbers are limited and slots are for 2 hours. ‘Treatment’ and massage available.

It is a lot to take in on arrival and it is all quite ‘foreign’. Pool/spa staff act as guardians rather than facilitators. (‘Charming, local colour…?’!)

The experience was exceptional, the thermal pools and especially the Archena massage by Miriam who was soooo helpful as I have mobility problems. I believe they should make more mention of the underground Roman baths which were amazing.

The food was a little basic, but adequate and reasonable value. Unfortunately we had a flood in our bathroom floor (which was dangerously slippy) during the night which meant we were unable to have a shower in the morning we left. I thought they may have offered me some recompense for that, eg. a voucher or something to use in the future but that did not happen and I did not ask.

The ambience was lovely staff helpful and very clean

Would have been better to have adjustable sun beds. I wasn’t convinced they did much recycling of refuse, there was no opportunity to separate what was thrown away in the outside areas. Cans plastic glasses and general waste all went in to the same bins. these places generate a lot of waste and need to do as much as possible to reduce waste and recycle

Great customer service and helpful sraff. The room was adequate and suited our needs. The location was fabulous. The adjacent casino bar area was stunning but needs to be upgraded food wise. Special mention for tte exceptional dancers to the resident musician.

The toilet was broken. There was no communal meeting place apart from the reception area. Signposting from the town would have been helpful. .

Superb stay as always, facilities are wonderful, rooms spacious and comfortable and the architecture is to die for. Who cares about the rain with warm water to play and swim in. Thank you for being the saviour for our holiday.

Would have enjoyed a kettle in the room and perhaps better quality toilet paper, but those are very small matters, the casino not only provide a wonderful atmosphere but also lovely coffee, and the beer is also good.

The spa facilities are excellent, especially if you pay the extra for sauna, steam, flotation pool etc. Hotel Termas has a classic "spa" atmosphere from the 19th century. If you go down to the basement, you can see the old facilities (big marble bathtubs and antique machines) and even the remains of the ancient Roman baths. Everything was very clean. Some people have complained about the smell, but this is the smell of the natural hot springs, which has a slight hint of sulphur. It's not noticeable in all parts of the hotel. The Restaurant de Agua has very good food but is overpriced (10 euros for a single piece of toast with three pieces of smoked sardine on it). We paid 82 euros for two adults and a child with no wine and only one dessert.

It's bad that the hotel charges all guests to park: 8 euros per day. They could offer this free to guests and charge visitors only. There's no other place to park. The breakfast is not worth the 12 euros per person. Coffee is self-service from a machine and is pretty terrible. The only great thing about the breakfast is the orange juice.

Location and facilities. Breakfasts were excellent.

The food was good but often was served quite cold and in the hotel dining room we felt it arrived too quickly and we felt rushed. Admittedly they were serving a lot of people but at the end of a very leisurely and relaxing day we would have liked our dinner to be just as relaxed.
