Occidental Roca Negra - Adults Only

It was all very nice, the location is good, the views are very nice and the natural seapools at low tide simply amazing! Food was very good!

Be aware that you have to book the spa area in advance, for us unfortunately it did not work out in the end to go there. But from what we heard it must be really good!

This hotel is just otherworldy amazing. Unreal views, beautiful surroundings. Open architecture blending outdoor with indoor seamlessly, boasting rich greenery. Super friendly and helpful staff. Tidy room, cleaned daily. Room is big and ellegant, with a generous terrace, big shower, big king bed. Wonderful breakfast buffet with huge selection of tasty meals, hot and cold. Cheap parking in indoor garage. Large skybar with decent tasteful sitting areas, beautifully made. Romantic white footpath leading directly to natural pools next to the ocean. Agaete is a charming village, seems to be stuck in time, almost untouched by tourism. It was such a treat to just walk around, very relaxing. We were just blown away by this hotel, and will be definitely coming back, once returning to Gran Canaria.

The hotel is situated a bit far from “civilization” which is exactly what we were looking for. You can just turn off and recharge the batteries. Its so calm and relaxing. The rooms are designed for privacy. We could sleep very well without hearing our neighbours. The food was excellent! You can try Spa for 15 euros/person for 90 mins. Massages are around 30 euros/person. The prices are very friendly for 4* hotel. Drinks at the pool bar around 4-5 euros and buffet dinner for 20 euros/person. The staff is so welcoming, friendly and always smiling;) sky bar is amazing for a drink and watching sunset! Would recommend to hire a car If you wanna stay there. There are some restaurants at the beach but usually after midnight they all close and Agaete becomes a ghost town;) To Las Palmas its only 25 mins by car, to the airport around 40 mins. This hotel is amazing If you are looking for a hideaway with an amazing views of the Atlantic ocean and relaxing atmosphere.

The location was absolutely amazing. The breakfast - offered a large choice and was pretty good. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly without being in your face. The rooms were large and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The roof bar offered amazing 360 degree views of the stunning location and sunsets.

Unfortunately for us a lot of renovating was occurring in the hotel during our stay. This resulted in a lot of noise. The hotel have obviously chosen the quiet period before Xmas to do this. This is totally understandable however it would nice to have been advised of this before we arrived and maybe offered some compensation. The decor of the rooms is rather cold and bland - not like in the photos! It reminded us a bit like ibis hotel decor Would have been nice if use of the spa was included in the price or at least one visit offered for free.

We just got back from Cordial Roca Negra and had an absolutely wonderful time. I’ve broken my review down into a few sections below. Location : the hotel is situated on top of a cliff / mountain edge allowing all its guests to have a beautiful view of the ocean along with its delightful sunsets each and everyday. A few minutes walk away (although it is tiresome coming back as it’s very steep!) are the natural volcanic pools. They are a great alternative to the hotel pool, if you fancy a bit of sea swimming. The hotel is a €4/5 cab ride away from the harbour, however I must encourage the walk which is nothing short of a 20min leisurely stroll, with breathtaking views along the coast line or through the quaint little town. The harbour itself acts as the towns main source of bars and restaurants, with a handful of choices all strategically plotted along the waters edge. I’m not sure if it was off-season or I’m just used to the hustle and bustle of London but the vibe is very chilled, with most of them only open fri-sun for dinner. Staff : the staff at this hotel are by far some of the best hotel staff I’ve come across. They have a very close knit family value feel which is very apparent as soon as you’re greeted. They were so accommodating that you almost feel like a local yourself by day 2! Everyone we passed in and around the hotel were incredibly pleasant, greeting us with a friendly “hola” at every opportunity. The front of house staff are incredibly helpful and always on hand with any issues or support, especially when presenting all the options, locations and opportunities around the dreaded tests that need to be taken under the covid travel rules before returning home.

Location is away from the main tourist centres and good for 'getting away'. Comfort and service are delivered without pretension and the staff are courteous and friendly, really interested in their customers well-being but never intruding. Rooms are spacious and uncluttered, mostly overlooking great scenery. There is a good-sized, and well-maintained pool, but many visitors enjoy the short walk down to the public sea pools. Food is a plentiful buffet with a variety to suit most tastes. For me the main attraction is being able to access the local wild-life areas or stroll down to Agaete to absorb the local charm, a beer and a big bowl of olives , This is my second visit and I doubt it will be my last.

The only, minor, fault that I could find is that, whilst a kettle and a selection of teas and coffee is provided, it does not often get replenished when the room is serviced. One member of bar staff was off-hand and had latched on to the gassing of beer to ensure that the customer gets more gas than liquid; I was only served by her twice but she really was out of tune with the other bar staff, who could only be described as brilliant in their ambition to please.

Nice location, good for long seashore walks and tours around the neighbouring bays. This place is a perfect escape from mass tourism. The outside pool is perfect for a lazy day, the inner SPA is fair. Very helpful staff. Despite the reduced services due to corona virus, the restaurant people tried to fulfil all our requests. Breakfast and diner are nice, with vide variety of good quality food. Book sea view rooms. It worth the price difference. In general we were very much satisfied with this hotel!

The restaurant is cold like the North Pole, staff could not set the air condition for a better climate. Prepare with a ski tour clothes for breakfast & dinner time.

I loved the outside sea and mountain view. The staff were very helpful and kind. The rooms were very spacious and the interior of the hotel is very well put together and designed very nicely. The breakfast was amazing, loads of options to choose from and a chef to prepare your eggs just as one pleasured. Loved the natural pool that's like less than 10 minutes walk. Secluded area and very quiet. The Rock top bar looks amazing and the beautiful gazebo to relax and take a drink too. Beautiful top view. Very very beautiful hotel. No regrets staying here at all.

The water from the outdoor pool and jacuzzi were very cold. My friends and I did not get to swim but it was not an issue for us. I would have loved it if the indoor pool and jacuzzi were free of charge.

This hotel really exceeded all our expectations! As a couple, we enjoy disconnecting when we travel and this place is perfect for that. We enjoyed the spa with couples massage with a very ideal price. The breakfast was super, left us excited to wake up every morning knowing we would not get disappointed by the various fresh food choices available (especially with a boyfriend who is a very picky eater). The area was incredible, secluded with little tourism and mainly local spaniards coming to their summerhouses, which we liked. The room was spacious, with incredible sea view, clean and every morning during breakfast they will clean your room, which we appreciated. The pool was massive, overlooking the sea. Lovely sun beds and pool bar. We highly recommend and already looking forward to returning. Also we really appreciated receiving complimentary champagne and dessert, and the loveliness of the staff always greeting us with a smile and helpful attitude! Thanks guys! :-)

Beautiful quiet setting with amazing views/sunsets. A huge room with very comfortable beds and pillows. The pool and jacuzzi were very welcoming and surprisingly empty. It was really lovely to make a pot of tea for breakfast and tea and coffee facilities in our room.

The food choice was rather disappointing at times. During breakfast the croissants had a sugar glaze so a savoury choice was not possible. Four out of six breakfasts there were no tomatoes which was very disappointing. Nevertheless there were other choices just not what I preferred.
