Our room (#11- The Fortaleza Suite) was MAGNIFICENT! it was basically a large apartment. Perfectly clean, and the beds were possibly the BEST I've ever had in a hotel room..SUPER thick and plush. We also had a section of the veranda to over look the street. It was great to be able to sit outside and experience the streets of Old San Juan in real time. Woke up in the morning and had tea as the sun was rising....very lovely and really felt like we were experiencing the city. The kitchen area and stair cases to the rooms are decorated nicely, feel very authentic. Location was perfect....walked around the corner to Mallorca's and got fresh mallorcas and pastries for breakfast. Nice hot shower!

We had read that the room would be noisy from the sounds of the street.....and boy, there were some LOUD vehicles and music ALL night, and before the sun was up the garbage trucks and street sweepers (one who sang at the top of his lungs as he walked all the way down the street) were out....so we were prepared to not get a lot of sleep..and we did not. But the authentic and lively feel were worth it.

We like that it was clean and a central location. The central sitting area and kitchen was great. We appreciated the water, ice and vending machine. The staff was very helpful.

No space to put items in the room. No where really to sit except on the bed. The bathroom shower stall wall had crack ini it.

Liked · location was outstanding. It was a pleasure to walk in Old San Juan and be able to go back the hotel without a car ride. The rooms are comfortable and the building is unique and fun. They have a public kitchen area with a refrigerator, cold water, coffee in the morning, and other items to allow you to save some money. Note: there are several different sizes of rooms. For this evening, we stayed in #13 and it was HUGE with high ceilings, a kitchen, an upstairs room and a second bathroom. Room #10 is even larger with a dining room though we never stayed in it. Our first stay in San Juan, we were in room #9 which was a standard hotel room with two beds and bathroom. It is definitely asking for rooms 10, 12, or 13 for your stay and not just take the room they assign you.

Minor compliant - water pressure in showers.

Only downside was the water pressure was moderate to low and the hot/cold temperatures would constantly shift and change. We had to constantly adjust temps while taking even a short shower.

I really liked the hotel itself- the beds were comfortable, I felt very safe as a female solo traveler, and it was a comfortable nice hotel. I needed to be in Old San Juan so the location was nice for me! Overall I had a really nice stay and it was exactly what I needed for this trip.

With the location, it was a bit noisy. They try their best to remedy it with quiet hours but the streets are loud with cars, people, and restaurants/bars so it can’t be completely helped. But I came prepared with earplugs so it wasn’t a huge deal- just something to be prepared for. :)

Location was excellent for what we wanted to do. We were able to walk with our suitcases to the port to board our cruise. The staff was very kind and accommodating. The old building had character -- we felt we were really in San Juan, not some anonymous chain hotel. It was helpful to be able to prepare coffee and we would have used the kitchen facilities more if we'd had a longer stay. The bed was comfortable and the AC very good.

We hadn't realized there would be no window in our room, so it was a bit claustrophobic. It was very quiet though! The shower was a bit unpredictable -- hot one minute, cold the next.

We loved this hotel and would definitely return in the future! We stayed for 2 nights at the start of our trip and returned for 1 night at the end, and we were so excited to be returning to the same great hotel. The room (Luna room) and bathroom were larger than the photos show, and everything was incredibly clean. The staff are very friendly too and the location is 10/10. The kitchen facilities are great - we were able to make tea/coffee in the morning, heat up any leftover food, use the well-priced vending machine, and relax in the seating area. The bedroom had a fridge, great air conditioning, and great shower pressure/water temperature. The bed is a little creaky but that was not a big deal. We loved coming back after a day of exploring to such a relaxing and quiet hotel.

Only improvements could be having a bedroom bin, water bottles for guests, and a more secure luggage storage facility. But none of this would stop us staying here again!

The location was fantastic in Old San Juan. The security was sound felt adequate. this was not some chain hotel which always makes staying at a new location more memorable. We liked the shared kitchen area and common area seating, but private en-suite bathrooms.

Not something we didn’t like but it could use some clarity. At different points in the morning and through the day coffee would be made but it was not clear if it was for a specific guest or for everyone. Maybe some sort of signage could be useful in the future.

The location was perfectly located in Old San Juan. The hotel itself is very old so you need to keep in mind that they're working with a historic building. It's laid out more like a B&B or even an apartment than a standard hotel. Which for us was part of the charm. I made this reservation well in advance. As our trip got closer and I tried to extend our lodging I realized prizes had gone up quite a bit and there was no availability. Two nights in Old San Juan would have been perfect before heading off to see the beaches. Instead we just had one night and made the most of it. We never used the kitchen facilities. We traveled with our 3 children and they fit comfortably in their own room and we enjoyed the privacy of our own room as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Although the photos are not misleading, I will say that they did a great job at showing just the highlights of the property. Also, based on other reviews of OSJ we decided to not get our rental car until we were ready to leave for the rest of the island. I'm very glad we weren't trying to navigate the streets of OSJ and worry about parking and access. You're definitely better off getting a taxi or an uber for your stays in OSJ. We rented bikes from San Juan Bike rentals. He brought the bikes to our location. Then we were able to explore as much of the city and beaches as we wanted. That was a great alternative to having a rental car. Also, we walked down to a restaurant called El Punto, the service and menu were one of our favorites on this trip. Hands down the best drinks (all virgin though) that we've ever had!

I wish we would have stayed at least 2 nights. That was our mistake, not the hotel's.

right off plaza Colon (this is good for seeing Old San Juan) and a taxi stand is right there and a nice alk to everything. Rooms are very clean and beds comfortable. It is all very well maintained.

Our previoius stay was in one of the suites (we are a family of seven) and this time was in two smaller rooms. The cleanliness and comfort were the same, but we definitely missed 1) the kitchen and sitting space, and 2) the terrace. But we knew this when we booked (the suite was taken already). The staff is very diligent about keeping the place quiet, but some noise could be heard.
