Swiss-Belboutique Napier

I was there for three days immediately after Napier and surrounds were hit by severe storm. Power station was flooded so no power or food at hotel. Remaining guests survived on what was available at Pack n'sve over the road. Staff did as well as could be expected in the circumstances. Otherwise, room was comfortable and clean with good furniture. I would give overall 3.5-4 rating. More crockery, cutlery, microwave - and pay tv could have been expected. (I note that some reviewers elsewhere have whinged about absence of bath, spa and artworks in rooms. My response to those comments would be to ask why these people don't have other things to think about.)

Great location. Central and walking distance to shops and grocery store and most importantly Marine Parade to walk the dog. Helpful friendly staff

Not really a "didn't like" thing just general feedback: The additional charge for the car parking was a surprise as this wasn't on the online booking portal/information. The additional charge for the dog wasn't on the online booking portal either, however the fact that the hotel could accommodate the dog is great and outweighed the lack of disclosure with the booking.

Great location, well presented and a very comfortable stay. I've visit with my little fury friend and he loved every minute of the holiday! Good and friendly service from the front desk who also score extra points for giving Benji a bit of belly scratches!

Breakfast was included in our stay, but the continental spread was limited. I'm still not certain if we could have ordered A la carte or if hot breakfast was part of the package - the first morning we were told that we couldn't order a hot breakfast! The second morning while the kitchen was operating, there wasn't a menu and the waiter couldn't quite let us know what was on the menu when we asked, so it was really just toast, coffee and a croissant.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found the staff lovely and engaging, including the Chef, Duty Manager, Check in and Restaurant staff and Cleaners. They were lovely to talk to and always ready to help. We brought our small dog and really appreciated being able to stay here with him. A lovely room with such a high standard throughout. We're keen to come back soon. Thank you all!

Nothing really, it was brilliant.

I don't like soft bed, it will make my back hurt, so the bed in the hotel is prefect for me, the hotel room is big, temperature control system has many functions, such as drying, which is great. Room cleaning job is fast, employees there are friendly.

The hotel offers some plates and dish-washing liquid, but don't have microwave or kettles, which is quite confusing, the tap is too far from the sink, the water will leak while using, the floor of toilet is really slippy when you step on it with your feet after bath.

Location and size of the room, parking and lift access.

Internet wasn't working, and TV was challenging to cast too. Leaving the room at the end of the stay was not easily explained, especially where you drop off parking fob etc.. No one checked my COVID19 Pass? That was concerning..

Location very convenient to walk to town centre and sight seeing. Did not require a car or taxi.

Rubbish bags in the bins. I like to bag my rubbish and tie it up for health and hygiene and ready for collection when room attended to. No plates, cutlery readily available in room- slightly inconvenient. Packaged bamboo cutlery would help.

The convenience of not only having a supermarket next to you, but also the beach that is only around the corner, 2 mins away. Not too far from everything and very peaceful. I loved every moment we were there and I'd love to go back again, hopefully very very soon!

The only thing that probably put my experience down just a little was probably the bed. They were quite stiff on the back and I would wake up in the middle night cause of it. If you have existing back problems, I might have to recommend bringing a top comforter to help.

Very modern hotel close to everything. I was traveling for work and enjoyed how convenient this was to shopping, restaurants and local sightseeing spots. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size.

The breakfast was a buffet and did not look good so I chose to go elsewhere which is fine since there are plenty of great locations close by. I had to ask for my room to be cleaned a few times and the manager said they were short-staffed. They also had a leak in the basement but I was not impacted.

Loved the location and room, and the restaurant meal. Room was a good size and pillows lovely. Water pressure in shower fabulous All the staff were very accommodating especially Amanda. Chefs meal delicious

The bed a little hard and the bathroom quite cramped for the size of the room. Couldn't understand why we had to pay for on-site parking though, especially with the cost of the room
