Majestic Mansions – Apartments at St Clair

Amazing Building we had a 2 Bedroom apartment on the top floor. Wonderful views of Dunedin and Ocean. The apartment was spacious and has absolutely everything you need. We stayed over Christmas and were given chocolates on Christmas Eve. Downstairs in entry area beach towels are available and there is a communal laundry which has brand new washer and dryer. There is a variety of cafes and restaurants a couple of minutes walk from apartments. The St Clair pool is walking distance. The staff are so friendly and helpful! The compendium in the apartment was so thorough with so much information and included all the local restaurants menus.

There is nothing to dislike. Just note the building does not have a lift but staff will help you with your bags if you need.

The place is next to the beach, we had a great view from the top floor overlooking the ocean. The apartment was a lot bigger than I thought, with a formal lounge, kitchen and sunroom. It was very clean.

No shower cabin in the bathroom, the shower head is just in the middle of the ceiling. After the shower all floors in the combined bathroom/toilet were covered in water - we had to use bath towels to dry the floor. It is an old apartment so I imagine it was a challenge to retrofit the shower but it must be a better way to do it so you don't have water everywhere.

Great location, fantastic staff and communication on access to property and it was great having a kitchen things. Wonderful cafes and park nearby. Was amazing being so close to the beach even in winter.

Mattresses were quite firm but that’s a personal preference. The hot water is exceptionally hot when using the shower/taps and traveling with little ones I just recommend being aware of that when preparing their bath time etc. Again this is not a negative thing, just an awareness note for those travelling with small children.

It is an historic property, so somewhat dated in design, however well maintained and tastefully decorated. Our apartment was on the main floor so lacked the ocean view, however had a lovely private patio and garden area with table and chairs. There is ‘indoor’ parking. The staff were friendly, accommodating and respectful.

Not an actual dislike, but if stairs are a problem for a guest, this venue will be a challenge.

right in the heart of St Clair. Great restaurants on the doorstep, walk on the beach, close to town. Dunedin really has the most beautiful beaches. the hotel is beautiful and old, tall ceilings, and comfy bed, it was surprisingly warm considering it is an old building. I stayed in July, so middle of winter. The Shower had good pressure. and it was a really big apartment. I didn't even use the lounge room. the photos I have uploaded are from local beaches.

could hear someone in the toilet upstairs haha but it was pretty quite other than that.

Staff were lovely and communication from them was great. Had everything we needed and was clean and well kept. Location was fabulous and perfect for our stay.

Booked a two bedroom apartment, one double and one twin. The twin was for our two adult children but unfortunately the tiny room with two single beds made their stay a bit uncomfortable. The bed length was too short for my son and the wall being directly at the end of the bed made comfort difficult. I didn’t know this from the description.

The apartments were built in the 1920s, so the rooms were airy and bright and quite cosy, with a lot of natural light. The apartment was clean and the bed amazingly comfortable. There was more space than we anticipated with a lounge, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. French doors opened from the bedroom onto the garden. The apartments sit in a block next to the seafront with several restaurants within 100m. Some of the upstairs apartments have a sea view.

the kitchen is old, with a separate plug-in hotplate and a complete ban on cooking seafood.

No lift for very heavy suitcases, but understable for the age and style of this building The bathroom was absolutely terrible, it was more like a giant wet room with a wrap around curtain. Even though the bathroom looked stylish, it was totally impractical with the shower water covering the entire bathroom floor, which you then had to mop up after each use. Felt very unsafe on this wet flooring.

The room was clean, inviting and warm. The bed was comfortable and the included linen and towels were of great quality. Lots of attention to detail. The location - right on the beach - was a huge highlight for us. For the price, this was an exceptional place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone coming to Dunedin.

This place isn't close to a variety of restaurants and shops, or to the centre of the city, but we chose it because of the proximity to the beach so for us it wasn't an issue

This apartment is in a fantastic location. Cool old building. The master bedroom is pretty spacious and overall the apartment had everything we needed. Bonus to have a carpark right outside.

It didn't bother me but important to know that there are a lot of stairs at this property. Would be great if the lounge area had two couches as with only one small couch the whole family couldn't sit down and relax.
