Hotel Caribe Merida Yucatan

The location is the best in centro, perfect for walking everywhere. Park Hidalgo was beautiful right outside the front door. Breakfast was delicious, the service was excellent, and the coffee was outstanding! This hotel has so much charm, yes it’s a very old building and the rooms are not huge, but we had everything we needed. The hotel was clean and the gardens were gorgeous. The staff was very helpful, and friendly. The pool was perfect for a quick swim to cool off in the afternoon. The bed was very comfortable. We asked for more pillows when we arrived and they were delivered to our room in less than 10 minutes. I would definitely stay here next time we visit Merida.

The rooms could use a refresh, a coat of paint goes a long way.

Great location next to the cathedral and easy walk to Parque Santa Lucia. Shops and restaurants everywhere to enjoy. Comfy bed, roomy shower and room air conditioner. The courtyard in the hotel center is pretty and a nice place to sit. Roof pool and view is fun too. Asked for extra pillows and they came quickly. Bottled water on demand. Easy check in and out.

Parking was a couple blocks away and it was confusing finding the right lot. The name on the pass matches the wrong lot. Also needed $200 peso in cash for the deposit for the pass - not a big deal, but sharing so people bring enough cash.

The location was amazing! The staff was very helpfull helping us with the parking and gave us extra pillows when we asked. The staff was very friendly,breakfast was amazing. My family and I really liked how center the hotel was we were located right infront of a plaza and one block away from the main plaza and 2 blocks away from santa Lucia plaza. During our stay they would close the street and had venders and resturants set tables outside to eat and enjoy the night. I would recommend this hotel for anyone that wants to feel like a local.

Location is great, the building is great. Tthe building, the shaded courtyard and portico, was fantastic! (and also very common in Merida Centro). Value was good.

The day-to-day operations were alright, but it didn't feel very hospitable at the front desk, at least for an English speaker. Maybe management, maybe a lot of turnover. Not my first choice for the next trip but I would stay there again. Wifi was ok, but not enough bandwidth to keep my VPN happy when the tourists or groups arrive. Nicer than some Kavia properties, not as nice as others.

Great central location, lovely plant-filled courtyard, nice pool on upper deck overlooking the church. Helpful front counter woman with perfect English. Good value for a central location where all the important city features are within walking distance.

They should have communicated where to park in an initial email. There is no street parking anywhere near the hotel and we were in panic mode trying to figure out what to do. The parking lot for the hotel is two blocks away with one way streets in between to make it more complicated, so not easy! Also, we were given a room on the main floor adjacent to the breakfast dining area so was noisy in the early morning.

Great location, but still very quiet at night (did use earplugs though because room 9 is next to the garden & they start watering the plants at 7). Breakfast was okay. Good staff but some of them didn’t understand basic English. The others were very helpful with taxis & booking tours. Very clean, good beds & bathroom (hot water!). Old furniture. No bar service while terrific terrace outside on the parque. And you can’t buy alcohol in the supermarkets after 18.00. Bars enough but the hotel is great to relax so some nice drinks would be a surplus (like a small fridge in the hallway). Great patio garden. Very well kept. Old rooms but with charms and room 9 is big with high ceiling. Good airco. Can be turned of easily. Good value for money (about 70 us a night).

WiFi often didn’t work well enough (not handy for booking restaurants or looking up tourist info). Basic knowledge of English is handy for reception staff. I do speak & understand more than basic Spanish but not handy if you don’t.

Perfect central location with clean rooms. Cool to stay in a traditional building with a beautiful courtyard. Pool nice for a brief cooling off but area does get very busy, don't expect to get one of the four sun loungers. PARKING: Be aware that the hotel parking is a secure lot about an 8 minute / two block walk away. Pull up in the lay-by at the edge of the square and the hotel will get someone to sit in your car and direct you (drop your bags off at the hotel lobby first). Seemed a secure and a fairly routine set up for the city. Don't leave your car parked anywhere in Mexico where there is a painted yellow curb, you will be fined!

Bear in mind the style of the hotel building means most room windows face into the courtyard so rooms are dark & you'll need the shutters closed for privacy.

The location was amazing. It was easy to walk around the center of Merida or get an Uber. It was only 10 minutes from the airport by car. There were several restaurants nearby to choose from and there was live music in the courtyard right outside the hotel on the weekends. The price was very reasonable, and the amenities were what you would expect. Nothing over the top but it was clean and the staff were wonderful.

The rooms were not incredibly spacious and there wasn't a lot of space to put luggage. They were not many towels provided initially. There is not a microwave or small refrigerator for leftover food so you have to eat out the whole time. And it's a more expensive area of town.

We loved everything about this hotel. When we were looking where to stay in Merida and read about the story of the property, we decided that it was the place we wanted to stay. Location is perfect, the place is lovely with a beautiful patio and the roof pool is beautiful. We stayed at the suite which was excellent, overlooking the park. We loved this place, it exceeded our expectations, we loved everything about it. We had breakfast at the patio and it was excellent. The service was great as well! I will highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Merida. We plan to go back one day and we will definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff!!

Value for money can't be beat. Perfect location right in the center, at a really good price. The building itself is old, but very beautiful. The coffee in the room was really good coffee, and they refilled every day. Was great having water facilities on every floor, saving us from buying lots of plastic bottles

The aircon is quite old and makes a really loud noise. Personally I found it relaxing to sleep with it, but can imagine others won't.
