Hotel All'Arco

The hotel's location is excellent, literally 5 mins away on foot from the city's main squares.

It is a bit overpriced considering that room's furnishings were very basic and the room didn't even have a kettle to make some tea.

The hotel was situated in a very quiet, pedestrian district - no traffic noise at all. It was located within easy walking distance of some great cafes and restaurants and very close to the Piazza. The room was very spacious with a big ensuite bathroom. The hotel was spotlessly clean. It felt very luxurious but for a budget price. The tea and coffee in the room was replenished daily and the room cleaned daily. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful, kind and always smiling. It was a very warm and welcoming hotel.

There were a couple of dark areas in the room - above the desk and the shower cubicle was very dark. Some chairs on the balcony would have been nice as then we could have sat outside.

Good location for exploring old town and restaurants, old fortress, churches and ruins. Location is walking distance down to the harbour. Fairly close to train station but taxi recommended. Ask taxi to drop you at the main door to hotel not a block away at the square as it is a good uphill hike with bags. Hotel was clean and comfortable with elevator. Breakfast was croissant/buns, cold cereal, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee.

August was very hot and the air-conditioner did not cool the room at night. The windows could not be left open due to people talking on the street below and the noisy party in the square lasting until the wee hours of Saturday morning. Rooms are also not well insulated so noise from other rooms could be a problem if you are a light sleeper or have a inconsiderate neighbor.

We stayed in an apartment separate from the hotel so can’t comment on the main building which we didn’t see. We were delighted, after a week Interrailing, to find a washing machine. The room is clean and simply furnished.There was also a kitchenette and we did make tea and coffee, but didn’t do any cooking. Lots of storage space and good working Wi-Fi and air conditioning (which was essential). Very good breakfast available for €12 at Cafe Adoro across the road. Location was very good - just a couple of minutes from Piazza L’Unita and with plenty of excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. The apartment building was off the main thoroughfare, and the area was quiet at night.

There’s no view, so if you want a room with a view you’ll be disappointed. The lift is tiny - again not a problem for us.

The location wasn’t bad in order to get to the main area of Trieste of restaurants and shops. It was quiet, a bit off the beaten track but ok if you get proper directions from the train station, which we didn’t. We ended up taking the route 24 bus from the train station, as suggested, on the website but it drops you way up by the Castle and you then have to walk down to the hotel on a very rugged and steep road. It left me very tired and disoriented as to where the sea was and all the shops and restaurants. Definitely walk or taxi along the water front to hotel. Do not take 24 bus. Tickets hard to figure out online and driver very rude and unhelpful.

Finding the hotel.

Our room was spacious, clean and well set up with everything we needed provided, including a sofa. The hotel is really well situated between the cathedral/castle and the centre of the old town, with lots of interesting places to explore and others to eat, drink and shop right on your doorstep. It is a hilly part of town, largely pedestrianised, so would not suit anyone with fitness or mobility issues but we really enjoyed it. The bed was large and comfortable and the room bright in the day but darkened by shutters at night. It is a quiet area once the bars are closed, so we were undisturbed, despite the room being on a lower floor. Having access to hot drinks (at a small charge?) all day from the machine in the breakfast room/reception is useful - hot water is free. We would stay here again and Trieste has much to offer the visitor.

Could have used some drawers in the room or wardrobe but there was plenty of shelf space with a little rearranging. The breakfast room is very small, so predicting when to go is a bit of an art. If later, not everything is available but it is all fresh and exactly what you would expect.

Communication was excellent - we were due to arrive after normal check-in hours and we were sent clear and friendly information so we knew exactly what to do. The location was brilliant (we were in an apartment 5 minutes from the hotel, just a couple of minutes from the main square); the bed was very comfortable; the bedroom and bathroom were a good size and everything was clean and well maintained. Shutters and double glazing kept out light and noise and we slept really well.

Nothing.

That's a small homey hotel near the central part of Trieste. Clean and functional –– all you expect from a budget hotel stay. The staff is nice and everything was working on my visit. I had a room with a balcony with a great view over an old church. Having a small fridge in the room is an extra point.

Nothing much, just be aware that to get to the hotel, you'll need to take the stairs near the church that overlooks the old part of the city. It's pretty manageable, but might be a little bit challenging with suitcases.

The hotel is close to everything you'd want to visit in Trieste, it's also very easy to find as you get detailed instructions once you book. Due to unforseen circumstances with our chosen transport, we had a very late arrival, but the staff were very accommodating and helpful and arranged for a very easy late check-in. In general, the staff were great - attentive and helpful. The room we were in was very comfortable and clean. The beds were great, we slept very well! If we ever come back to Trieste, we know where to go! :) Grazie, All'Arco!

The location is great - very central and a short walk from anywhere in the centre. The rooms have different sizes, but all comfortable for this level of hotel and very clean. They offer daily cleaning though the change of bed sheets and towels is only every 5 days which was fine for us. For extra charges you can request the change of towels and bedsheets if needed. The breakfast was very simple, but this is what they clearly write, and it was a good value for money. They provide a voucher for 15% discount at the underground parking that was big, convenient and very cheap. The parking was a little bit farther than we expected though it was not a problem for us, but to reach the hotel you need to walk through some stairs, near to the hotel the parking is almost impossible.

As the hotel is very central it has some bars around and during the night it may be very noisy during the weekend if you wish to sleep with open windows - closing windows helps a lot though.
