Hotel Killarney

It was fantastic for kids, there are playgrounds and organised activities and a kids club which is a safe place for kids to go while parents are packing, going to the pool or something else. In the kids club they can meet other children and play and its a great space. They have a pool and they also have indoor soft play area and bouncy castle as well as a games room. We had a very easy time and the kids loved it. There was also music in the bar in the evening.

The hotel is huge so our room was quite a long walk from reception to the room so if you are bringing bags it is better to park at the back of the hotel to come in the other enterance.

main doors constantly being left open as guests left & entered the hotel , not very pleasant for guests sitting in the lobby area , also cigarette smoke was wafting in by people smoking just outside the main entrance of the hotel

Our room was big and rather quiet. Bathroom was clean and the beds were quite comfy. Free breakfast was absolutely great and delicious! The staff was very kind. Takes a 30 min stroll to get to the city center.

The hotel is very big, hosts many guests and therefore might get loud, some may find this annoying. The curtains in our room were torn and dirty. For some reason none of our credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) worked in the hotel - either in the reception or restaurant (though everywhere else in Killarney they worked just fine). We've found that especially stressful during check-in when we had to look for an ATM to pay in cash. There's no option to pay earlier and on-line using booking.com so that's another great minus.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and the food was great. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will return.

Check in time would be better earlier in the day. We weren't advised that pool slots were only for an hour so that was disappointing as we would have liked more time. It would be helpful also to know the program of events for children ahead of check in as I had booked dinner to clash with movie time and also breakfast to clash with pool time- this could have been avoided if I hadn't been under pressure to book meals at check in or the program can been sent ahead of our stay. We didn't like that lunch and dinner menus were the same, however that said the food was lovely for both meals and we enjoyed both even though we were sitting almost an hour before dinner was served.

Breakfast was excellent, menu for evening meals quite limited and didn't change from day to day. the room was a great size, lots of space, good size wardrobe etc

When we checked in the receptionist told us we were on the third floor and pointed us in the direction of the lifts. She asked if we wanted any help with our bags and we said no, thinking it would be a fairly "normal" distance to the room. The hotel is vast and we walked for what felt like miles! There are several different lifts, depending on what part of the hotel you are in! That was not explained so we ended up taking a lift which still required us to climb some stairs when we got to our floor. We witnessed many people "losing their way" in the endless corridors while we were there. Far more customer service training of reception staff is required.

This is our 2nd time to stay. We absolutely loved it. Place was spotless. Staff were wonderful. Breakfast and dinner was fabulous.Music in the lobby every evening. Always something to do with the kids any time of the day. It's a stone throw from the town which has loads of shops and restaurants and pubs. Can't wait go back again. I have also highly recommended this hotel to family and friends.

I have absolutely nothing to say badly about this hotel.

Loved all the facilities for kids to keep them occupied. Staff were so nice and always helpful. Rooms were exceptionally clean, beds very comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Wasn't a huge fan of the food. Breakfast was great, a lot of choice. But the day and evening menu were the same with no choice for a small lunch. The few dinners we had, the fish was always overcooked and dry. Pasta was nice.

Great place for family vacation. Outdoor play areas, internal facilities and the kids club are great. Breakfast was nice. Didn't get evening meal this time as we went into Killarney which is 20 minute walk but it was nice the last time we stayed.

Check in time could be better. Officially it is 4pm. We were lucky enough to be accomodated on our arrival as the room was ready so this may just be a guideline time to give housekeeping enough time to have all rooms turned-over.

Food was exceptional

An older lady in purple uniform behind the hot counter serving guests breakfast. She clearly had no manners dealing with the public . Her attitude was who's next every few seconds with no good morning or what can I get you .I understand you can be under pressure with the que but it would have been nice to be greeted with some level of kindness and a smile on your face .

The selection for breakfast was excellent. There was so much for my daughter (4 yrs old) to do in the hotel. Perfect if the whether was bad. The staff in the swimming pool/play area are so professional and friendly.

The staff in the restaurant and other areas where food is served were lacking supervision. We had our dinner booked for 7pm. We had to ask for menus and then ask again for our order to be taken. Once our plates for our starters were cleared we had to ask as regards our main course. After 30 mins we were advised our main courses were not sent through to the kitchen... It was 8.15 when we got our main courses. My daughter was not having a starter so this was extremely late for her to be eating. This was the only bad experience we had in the hotel. Everything else was great.
