Conveniently located in walking distance of the lovely fortified town of Semur. Easy to find and with ample free parking. Well maintained public areas and bedrooms, with an attractive restaurant and bar. The added bonus of a heated open air pool. Reasonable room rates and a good breakfast - cheaper than many hotels. Customer service really stands out. I booked this in May 2022, when planning a roadtrip, and they contacted me then to check that I actually did mean 2023 and hadn’t got my calendar confused. A few days prior to our stay they rang again to check if we wanted to eat In the restaurant, as it was getting full with dinner bookings and they wanted to give priority to residents. So overall it was an excellent stopover and I’d have no hesitation in returning next time I’m in Burgundy.

Great stop over point, though further out of Semur than I thought but not a problem. lovely grounds great for my dog to run around in. Rooms were so quiet and cool and the bed very comfortable - I slept very well. Nice to have the Nespresso machine and the tea facilities. Restaurant was very good and obviously popular as full. Food and wine excellent though I was a bit pushed out of the way on probably the worst table between the in and out doors of the kitchen. But I did book on booking.com, was on my own, and had my dog. So I still really enjoyed my evening. Breakfast was the usual French selection which I liked and I enjoyed eating it on the terrace overlooking the turrets of the castle. Reception staff and the man in charge, not sure if the owner or manager, were very professional and friendly. Restaurant staff seemed a bit ‘new’ and not quite what you expect in France apart from the lady in charge who commanded respect! I would definitely stay here again.

I did think it was closer to Semur so I could easily walk in. In fact I drove by it on my way in to the town thinking it was nearer! Apart from that the only fault and it isn’t a fault really is it would be lovely for the ground floor rooms to open into the garden rather than just having the window. but that’s living in an ideal world!

It was in a good location, good parking, comfortable well equipped room, friendly staff, swimming pool, nice bar and restaurant.

Nothing really although the aircon in our room wasn’t working. Also we had a disagreement with the restaurant manager when he left our drinks on the side to seat a large party of American businessmen. The General Manager however compensated us for this.

Room was excellent and the first meal in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were attentetive.

Second evening meal was not as good, desert was over cooked and stuck to the plate, something occurred during the meal with the staff as the service deteriorated and we were left waiting for coffee.

We had a lovely stay here. The staff deserve a special mention for being outstanding - so friendly and nice. The restaurant food was delicious and the children loved the pool with super comfortable loungers. Breakfast was especially good, a selection of bacon, eggs, bread, pastries, fruit and yoghurts with ham and cheese. To be recommended.

Charming and helpful staff, with the exception detailed below. Nicely positioned for exploring other parts of Burgundy.

Sadly, our first dinner was ruined by a rude maitre d' and as a result my wife refused to eat there again, despite very good cuisine

Super staff, clean, quiet, comfortable hotel with plenty of parking, nice swimming pool, good breakfast and restaurant.

A little way out for walking into the village for other restaurants etc but it is do-able.

Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. I liked that some restaurant staff did not speak English so we had a go at some French.

Breakfast was hit and miss - one day there were stale croissants and brioche. The next day they were fresh again. The dinner was nice, but nothing too spectacular. The food was overpriced.

Very happy here. Big room, very clean, air con, huge bed, good breakfast, attentive friendly staff, good parking. Walking distance to town (though is a bit steep).

This was our second visit to this hotel and our expectations regarding both the facilities and food were satisfied. Semur en Auxois is a lovely town and the hotel is a short walk from it so has the advantage of the quiet of the countryside as well as access to the town.
