Above all, the Staff. Everyone was very professional and very willing to listen to our needs. Extremely accommodating. Vincent, the manager, was outstanding! We also enjoyed the bar for an evening drink in front of the fire. Breakfast was very good.

Room phone made noises so had to unplug. Reception aware of problem but did not inform me. No help with luggage and parking restricted.

The welcome at l'Hostellerie de la Tour d'Auxois was war, friendly and thoughtful. We were made to feel very much at our ease and all the staff were helpful and kind. The location at the heart of Saulieu is perfect and all facilites are well maintained, clean and beautifully kept. The atmosphere was really homely and it was a shame to have to leave after only one night. The pool was super for a refreshing dip at the end of a hot journey and the food for both our evening meal and breakfast was delicious. Definitely one to put on the 'would like to visit again' list. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
This place is really hard to fault. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A great hotel to experience Saulieu. Great views from our room onto the historic Route Nationale 6 and other historical sights of the "ville d'etappe" Saulieu. One really feels like living there. Great look of the hotel lobby and bar. Great French breakfast.

The room was very nice. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast with good choices. The breakfast room had an interesting history. Overall I liked it very much.
No dinner option, and on a Sunday, it is always a challenge to find an open restaurant. Options were only a 2-star Michelin across the street, a Kebab hole-in-the-wall option and a Pizza restaurant. There was no middle ground. We opted for the Pizza and food was great. Coming back to the hotel for a last glass of wine, and the hotel bar was closed already.

Everything was excellent from check in to check out. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast couldn’t have been better. We were concerned that we would find that the traffic noise would be excessive having read other reviews. Our room was on the main road side. I’m a light sleeper but didn’t notice noise (double glazing) Couldn’t fault the room for furnishings and cleanliness. Great lounge for relaxing after dinner. Parking is good around the hotel and free.

Lovely old building in the centre of an historic small town. Excellent meal in the hotel restaurant, eating on the garden terrace, with really imaginative and delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes. dog friendly floors in the rooms - terracotta tiles.
