Rive Gauche

An excellent hotel with a lovely view of the river. I asked in advance for the room with the balcony window overlooking the river and the pleasant owner organised this for us. The staff were very friendly. There was parking just outside the hotel which was either free or not too expensive when we stayed which partly straddled a bank holiday. The wifi was good which allowed us to check emails and listen to Radio Caroline on their internet broadcasts. I think the restaurant was closed while we stayed in mid-May.

Breakfast might have been a little more adventurous with some cooked eggs or similar?

The staff were all very charming and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for a visit to the city, near lots of restaurants, easy walking distance to the Chateaux, visitors information centre, town centre. The rooms are small but pristine. The restaurant attached to the hotel served excellent food. We can highly recommend this hotel. Excellent value, location, staff.

We could hear guests in the rooms above especially when they use their shower. That was really the only negative.

The position of hotel made Saumur very accessible for walking as well dinner, sight seeing and parking. The bonus came from our wonderful meal of the first night (plat du jour) at E22.50 great value but importantly made with great love. They also gave us a complementary starter. Breakfast was very good. The chef was very professional and friendly. A treat. The room was small as expected but very clean and serviced well. Parking was very easy, just outside, and if during the week you had unlimited parking under the roadway some 2mins opposite.

The room was small as expected, and nothing could be done here. The biggest problem was lack of power points. We could only find one next to the bed and none in the bathroom. We had to recharge phones and camera, this had to be staggered. Nevertheless a lovely place.

Location on the banks of the Loire. A minute walk from the tourist information office. Easy walk across the bridge from the train Room very clean modernised comfy bed. Wifi excellent. I was lucky with a room overlooking the Loire. Some road noise but not a concern for me

No heating early evenings when tired and cold so I very much appreciated the reception turning the heating on at 7 Stairs narrow circular and steep again not a concern for me but just something to be aware of

Our apartments were spacious, quiet and had everything we needed. And they are very centrally located.

It would have been nice if the hotel made it clear in advance that neither of our apartments are actually located where the hotel reception (and rooms) are. We discovered on arrival that one apartment was 100 metres away, and the other about 300 metres away. Not dramatic, but a bit more hassle than we had expected. Also the directions provided for the one bedroom apartment were rather inadequate, it was a mission to find the place and to then guess which floor the apartment was on.

Friendly reception, good breakfast, nice view on the Loire from our room, free parking in walking distance and last but not least a good starting point for trips in the neighbourhood.

Saumur has a beautiful castle, unfortunately closed on the Monday we stayed in Saumur. For the rest Saumur as a place has little to offer as compared to Tours and Angers.

The room was quiet and very clean and comfortable. It was good value for the money and in an excellent position . The proprietor was very welcoming and the breakfast was also good value. We would stay there again.

It would be really good to have a kettle with tea and coffee in the room , especially after a long hot journey.

It's location was excellent. 5 mins from a great choice of restaurants. Breakfast was very good ,plenty of choice. The staff were cheerful and helpful. We have stayed here twice and would recommend it.

Our room on the top floor was good for the money but a bit of a challenge for us oldies.

Friendly owner, who accommodated our late arrival with a smile. View on the Loire superb, woke up to see a hot air balloon! Short walk along boulevard to main centre, restaurants etc.

Inside of hotel has been well renovated, outside could do with a new coat of paint!

Good location with some rooms having a view of the Loire. Parking was nearby but there was a meter charge at 9am. The room was small with insufficient electric plugs Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful. The town was very nice and attractive.
