Hôtel & Spa Madison Saint Jean de Luz

The location is ideal. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff were helpful. The hotel design is charming. There is a bar on site and breakfast was pretty good, although 17.50 seemed a high price-so we only had a in on site one time.

We made a big splurge to stay here because of the Thalasso spa. I was disappointed because there is no ladder or steps to get into either the pool or the large hot tub (with jets). There were no signs telling you how to turn on the hot tub, luckily some one using it showed me. Considering the small size of the rooms, and the fact that on top of the high price for the rooms, you had to pay for breakfast, we probably would have enjoyed a cheaper hotel without a pool and just have enjoyed the incredible sandy beach instead. Also, the shower had a metal handle which we could not turn to make the water cooler—it took quite a lot of effort from the hotel staff to get it to work. The room is small, so I kept bumping into things.

Central location, pleasant room, lovely bathroom (see below), excellent lift.

Impossible to regulate the bathroom towel-rail which was at floor level and was either untouchably hot or cold and didn't dry the towels from one day to another. The staff were helpful but the problem was not solved. A small detail was that there were no hooks for hanging coats which had to be draped over suitcases. Luckily it didn't rain while there. Also there was only one chair in the bedroom and very little room on the table (large telephone and coffee machine). A second chair would have been welcome.

Excellent location for this very comfortable hotel. Staff were very welcoming and we would definitely go to this hotel again.

The spa area. The area surrounding the pool was very wet and slippy. Information should also state the the pool is not suitable for children, it is single depth and deep. No staff in that area when we visited.

Location is perfect - right beside shops, beach, restaurants, etc. Pool and Spa area was lovely, very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a really nice place to stay.

Continental breakfast met expectations.

Not happy that room overlooked a dustbin area, staff were very good and offered to move us to a different room. I do not like like glass in the bathroom door, prefer privacy.

The hotel was very clean and well organised , in a central location . The staff were friendly and very helpful, always happy to respond to requests .

A kettle would be good in the room as well as the coffee maker provided. Also the bar and bar snacks were very good but it is a shame that they do not have the restaurant open at the moment in the evenings

the weights/fitness were beside the pool where it is very warm to work out. restaurant staff not at same quality as front desk staff.

We chose the "formula" breakfast at a cost of € 7,50 which was adequate and at a competitive cost. Reasonable drinks prices for a good hotel and competitive with the local bars and cafes.

Bathroom very tight and confined - wardrobe space limited for stays of longer than two / three days. Bedroom designer at fault here !
