Hotel De Cambis

The room and location are excellent!

The staff quoted 160EUR for transport from Marseille airport to the hotel so I asked them to book the transport for me. The taxi charged me according to its meter and it came to 206EUR! The receptionist and manager did not show any apology or acknowledgement it’s their fault. They just kept on telling me it’s just a normal taxi and they can’t control the price. They asked me to complain directly to the taxi company. The manager even suggested maybe next time I should take the train!! They don’t seem to understand that once the hotel quotes a price to its guest and the guest goes ahead and books whatever it is that they’re quoted for, then they are committed to honouring the price.

Very clean, comfortable rooms and beds.  Close to restaurants, the pedestrian area of the old town and the Palais des Papas. Quiet area. Good service overall but A little slow at the front desk when checking in - but very helpful once you get there.  Rooms are nicely decorated with good Wi-Fi , lovely French windows and facilities. Nice wine bar downstairs. Good breakfast and lovely breakfast room. Thankfully, parking is inexpensive in the streets around the hotel .

You have to park in the street and this can be a 13 minute walk from the hotel as parking is limited nearby.

The breakfast itself (food, coffee, selection) was wonderful. But the breakfast room was so hot, it was hard to appreciate the meal. We were surprisingly upgraded to a suite! That was wonderful since a suite is about the size of a regular US hotel room! GREAT AC!!

The location is in an area that can be a little sketchy. We saw several folks without homes and several rough looking groups in the evening. There was also some type of sidewalk construction outside of the hotel while we were there which made it hard to navigate our luggage in and out.

This hotel and its staff is an absolute bliss! Located within walking distance of the train station, yet close to the old town. A staff that provided several recommendations for two dinners and made the reservations directly, a brand new hotel (2022) with a fantastic, clean, modern room (Junior Suite), a breakfast with a view of the busy town, a charming hotel manager with a very helpful team - it was our best experience of a 14 days trip through France!

Nothing at all!

During the shower, the hot water stopped. We called the reception and they said they would call tech support. After a while, the receptionist came to our room trying to solve the problem without technical knowledge. We waited almost an hour, to receive a phone call from reception saying that the hotel needed to restart the water supply system due to a bug and we need to wait another half hour to have hot water - after this episode no one from the hotel tried to apologize or talk to us about it.

No complementary coffee in the room. Who starts their morning without a strong cup of coffee. Upon checkout they charged us for our our coffee that we got at the coffee bar. Coffee bar did not stipulate an additional charge on your website. Debra the manager acted shocked when I told her every hotel we hav we have ever stayed at had complimentary co coffee for guests. The manager wanted to argue with m argue with us and she all but called us a liar. I left in tears and she ruined what was a beautiful visit to Avignon. We graciously paid for the coffee and left.

The hotel is very well decorated and furnished, both stylish and comfy. There’s a different color scheme at every floor. Toilets and showers are really nice. The rooms looking toward the église are amazing. Avignon is a small town, this hotel is closer to the city gate, and 5-10mins walk to city center and le palais.

We didn’t get the room with view, the staff helped us to find one but didn’t succeed (which is understandable)

Our room was very beautiful, as was the lobby. The front desk workers were friendly and helpful. The location is extremely convenient. The bed was very large and comfortable. The TV easily allows streaming from smartphones. The view from the windows of the Musee Lapidaire was a nice surprise. The shower was large and luxurious. The price was reasonable for the location and excellent state of the room.

The entry to the hotel is very discreet. (This is not a big deal at all and may be due to signage being limited by regulations.) We suggest guests look for the door based on the civic number, rather than expecting to see an obvious hotel sign.

The hotel was exceptional. It is located just inside the walls of the old city and across from the Avignon Central train station. Ir is within easy waling distance of everything. The staff were very helpful including giving us an umbrella when it was raining. The room was large and comfortable. It was easily one of the best places we stayed during our trip.

There is nothing really.

We only had breakfast once. It was fine with a good selection and fairly prompt service for items that required replenishing. Customer service was good and responsive. The room was fairly quiet and despite being on top of a main street in Avignon.

The inadequate tea and coffee making facilities and stock items in the room. Noise from rooms above ours (2nd floor) on couple of nights. The library / reading room was unavailable on several afternoons.
