Novotel Valence Sud

A very stylish, comfortable hotel. All staff were friendly and professional.

We were surprised and uncomfortable that dogs are allowed inside the restaurant. We ate breakfast inside, where the tables were close together and a couple came in and sat their dog right next to us. They could see we didn’t like it but did not move the dog away - we didn’t finish our breakfast. (We couldn’t eat outside for the reason below.) Not all people want to eat near a dog but we didn’t have a choice. The terrace is absolutely beautiful but, unfortunately, I am susceptible to insect bites and had large bites within minutes. I would love to have spent more time there but it is not the best place for me!

beautifully redesigned. the family room had ample space. the restaurant, pool and lounge were excellent. the best part was the outside space with a creek and waterfall. very relaxing and very unexpected given the modest appearance of the front of the building. the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

booking.com says this property has cribs available and we requested one, however, our room was set up with 2 children’s beds. I think this may just be a language barrier. thankfully we had our own baby travel cot in the car and staff removed the children’s beds for us.

The receptionist was fantastic! Travelling as a family he arranged a room for us immediately even though we arrived slightly early. He was extremely helpful and made our stay a very pleasant one. The pool area was fantastic and the kids had a great time. Its not often that you find a good hotel with pool etc. when you on a road trip and need an overnight stay.

Our experience at the on-site restaurant was not great. The manager of the restaurant was unfriendly and in my opinion, rude, after we had asked to be moved into the restaurant as we were being bitten by the mosquitos out on the terrace. They refused to find us another table and we had to sit in the bar area and eat our dinner. The rest of the staff were great. My meal was not good and I had to return it, to which there was no follow up or apology from the manager.

Beautiful decor. The size of the room for us 2 adults and 2 kids is perfect. Shower head is pleasant. The restaurant and bar are so beautiful. The terrace has small river and small waterfall, so peaceful. The pool is magnifique. Basically you will never feel like you stay next to tollway. It feels like a resort hotel. We love every details they provide ie. Ritual amenities, pasta straw, recycle bottle of water. Bed and pillow are ready comfy.

The garbage bin was full, some used bag and dirt around the corner of the room. But it’s not so big deal.

Room - just lovely, great shower and very quiet as requested. Breakfast - very good, lots of choice. Restaurant - exceptional, great service and the food was outstanding. We were able to sit outside on the lovely patio, next to the river and our dog was made to feel very welcome too. We will book this hotel again based on the restaurant alone!

Breakfast - it would be nice to have a jug of milk available so you could add your own milk to a coffee instead of the very milky version of coffee that comes out of the machine.

Good location for autoroute. Good easy parking. Good breakfast. Nice outdoor eating terrace by river - be sure to reserve before arrival.

As usual very uncomfortable beds. A slab of cheap 'Foam/Mousse` which does not breathe. The best dining tables - by the river - occupied by one person only instead of four. The food was poor quality although service was good. The interior decor is terrible, dark and neanderthal. The architecture of the hotel is a joke - ludicrous external appearance and low ceilings and dark colours inside.

Ideally located for the auto route, breakfast not taken as far to expensive, otherwise a very nice hotel. Room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. Unable to mark as 10 because of the breakfast issue !

Would have liked the breakfast to have been included for the price we paid, certainly would not consider paying 18 euros per person for breakfast !

Very good service at dinnertime, even it was very busy. Good dinner. Good atmosphere due to staff, environment and facilities. The people who are working there make you feel that your visit is appreciated and that's very important to have a pleasant stay. Very good room, outstanding cleaned. With compliments for everything and everyone. The breakfast can compare with a 5 stars hotel, everything is there and from very good quality.

Nothing, it was a pleasant surprise. We didn't expect it to be so good and relaxed.

Location is convenient coming back from Paris to the south, good restaurant and bar, good bed and shower, parking security, great staff.

We had an earlier stay in the spring on second floor and very hot no aircon and too early to switch it on. Also not safe to open the window the roof just outside, but that is now history, this time perfect.

The check in and parking were easy and secure. There was a nice bar, a fabulous outdoor terrace with a wonderful natural water feature and river. The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very good. Good atmosphere and beautifully decorated.

Our dinner reservation was messed up by the staff and we were seated thirty minutes late. The pool was closed, so if you are looking forward to using that, make sure you ask if it is open and what the water temperature is (not heated).
