Le Clos d'Amboise

It was a beautiful, historic property in the center of the small city of Amboise. We walked pretty much everywhere within 5-10 minutes, to wonderful little shops and restaurants. The breakfast at our hotel was lovely with many different options such as eggs done to order, fruit, different meats and cheeses, and lattes and cappuccinos. On a warm afternoon, after a little sightseeing, we would retire back to our wonderful little sanctuary and relax by the very private pool, very enjoyable!

Our room was quite small, but we were not able to get a larger one for our booking time. That being said, the bed was very comfortable and the room was well appointed!

Beautiful property in the old town. 5 minutes walk to the Chateau. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant - again staff were knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We were in a spacious room on the top floor - all sloping ceilings, old beams and dormer windows.

We didn't think to confirm that the room we booked had a 'proper' shower - as it turned out, it had a bath only, with a handheld shower. While a little awkward to manoeuvre, not really a problem for just the couple of nights we were staying - had we been staying longer, we'd probably have tried to move to a room with a shower.

Great location in the center of Amboise. Big and comfortable room, good wifi and safe. Very nice hotel, with lots of green space. Disliked · Efficient staff, but advised Chenanceau and Chambord castles were open. Chenanceau was open, but Chambord closed for renovations. Travel and lost day. Large bathroom but there is no shower door and it is difficult to take a shower without wetting the floor. Good hotel, but they could provide correct information about the main attractions in the area.

The breakfast was excellent. Fresh fruit and juices, delicious cheeses and cold meats, croissants and baguette, Joghurt and Müsli, eggs and coffees on order. The hotel has a beautiful and peaceful garden with a pool. The hotel restaurant serving suppers is outstanding with excellent service and a wide choice of good wines, cocktails and spirits. Staff is friendly and helpful.

The Wi-Fi was a bit unreliable but it did work. One had to keep logging on but once on it was fine.

The main house (chateau) was beautiful and well appointed. Our room was very spacious with large windows that overlooked the gardens- a lovely spot! The staff was very accommodating, and provided assistance when needed. The hotel was in an excellent location and it provided free parking for our car.

This was an excellent hotel, so that we felt there were no negative aspects of this property. I would definitely return to this hotel when visiting this area of France again.

I loved it all. The staff was amazing without exception. The place is truly stunning, beautiful, classy and spotlessly clean. The room was perfectly decorated, The bathroom was beautiful and so clean. The garden has to be amazing especially during spring and summer. And I didn't know there was a parking inside, so I was so glad the parking just next to the hotel is totally free. I didn't even feel the need to move my car inside, as they proposed.

Maybe the mattress was not so comfortable for me, but we all have different tastes. Otherwise it was top!

Nice large rooms with an en-suite that had a bath with shower. Very nice restaurant with a good value fine dining dinner menu (3/4 course fixed price menu or a 5/7 course tasting menu) with an extensive wine list. The service was excellent, all the staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Great location in the town and in easy walking distance of the 3 Chateau in Amboise.

The car parking has a very very tight entrance if in a large car. The breakfast in their restaurant was nice but expensive at euro 18 each.

The hotel was delightful. An old historic building,so the room was pleasantly the same. Location was superb. It’s on a narrow,cobblestone street about a 5 minute walk from most everything. Chateau Amboise,Clos de Luce, restaurant, shopping, river, etc. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. The food was outstanding. I was blown away by the quality and creativity. I met the young woman who is Chef. She has a future. The wine list was extensive and well priced. We had a rental car, which I recommend for touring the Loire area. We’ll be back!

Location was good for walking out of the property to explore the city. Liked that the property including parking even though it was difficult to drive into.

Staff could have been a bit more attentive at the reception desk. We asked for help making dinner reservations the first night and the staff never got back to us one way or the other. On a different night we asked for reservations for dinner at the restaurant on property (asked in the morning) and were told later in the day that they were full and we could not be accommodated.

This is a very attractive hotel very close to the Chateau Royal D'Amboise which is in the centre of town and opposite the main restaurant and bar area. The bar and restaurant staff were exceptional in terms of service and friendliness. The girl who signed us in was able to find an excellent restaurant on a very busy Friday evening after we found booking impossible. Amboise is a unique town with a must-visit Chateau but it basically closes down at 9.30 pm. If like us, you want to have a last glass of wine or a cleansing ale, in a beautiful setting, served with a very welcoming smile, this is the hotel for you.
