Mayela is the kindest host you could hope to have. She walked me to a close local restaurant when I arrived as it was dark and the area is a bit sketchy at night - I walked back on my own, though! She also got up at 5 am. to wait with me for the shuttle and called them when they were late arriving. Easy to walk all.over San Jose centre - maybe 10 mins away. The coffee she provides is fantastic and if you want to you can use the kitchen. The bed was also really comfortable. Just note that the gates are locked but there is a doorbell to the left - marked doorbell - but I didn't notice that!

The room I had was off a central courtyard and didn't have a window so it was difficult to know what was happening with the weather. There are skylights in the bathroom which brings light in.

The lady that runs the place is really kind, helpful and friendly. The location is at walking distance of main attractions and not loud. The room is spatious and the kitchen is well equiped. I would stay here again if back in San Jose.

Unfortunatelly, the building shakes when heavy trucks pass on the nearby street. Fortunatelly, that does not happen often. Also, the rooms have no windows. Nevertheless, the rooms are tall, and it is possible to easily refresh the air by opening the double doors and let the ceiling fan run a while.

Not a very beautiful street but a good location, easy walking distance into central San José. Property very secure - felt completely safe- and inside, a real oasis -a few simple rooms (old style colonial building with high ceiling rooms and ceiling fans but didn’t need ) arranged around a courtyard. Owner was welcoming and helpful but I think only spoke Spanish. Well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook/prepare own food

No obvious place to have supper or advice - arrived about 8.30pm. Found somewhere but not great. My daughter spoke Spanish so had good chats with proprietor but I’m not sure how easily we would have communicated (my lack not hers)

very pleasant and nice lady host. beautiful house and very clean room. location wise, we need to catch the early morning bus. we can walk from this Casa to the bus terminal.

This casa is located at a crossroads. the house faces two fairly busy roads on both sides, so the traffic notice is quite annoying. But the sound of passing vehicles on the road is only one aspect, and what is even more frightening is that there might be a problem with the foundation of the house. our room was the one opposite the reception. it’s the outmost room. Every time a truck or a larger car passed by, our room was shaken, our bed was shaken, the half glass of water on the table would be shaken…… There are very few vehicles after middle of the night, but starting at 5am in the morning, the vibration and noise caused by the vehicles woke me up before 5.

The Casa itself is a grand old house with a beautiful and bright central courtyard. My room was spacious and comfortable. It had a large smart tv with access to Netflix. Mayela is super nice and welcoming. She is extremely kind and thoughtful. Finally, the Casa has a very nice, bright, and large kitchen where you feel right at home making and eating breakfast.

I have not lived in a city in a long time so I had trouble sleeping because of the various noises. If you are sensitive to noise, bring earplugs.

The owner keeps her place immaculate! The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is spacious! The owner is always available to help you with everything. She stays up to meet you if have a late arrival and if you have an early morning flight out she gets up to see you off. She is absolutely delightful! Casa Mayela is close to the Centre so you can walk to buses etc. I have enjoyed my stays here. I highly recommend!!

A beautiful gem in San Jose! You would not imagine what is inside from the street, the place feels so tranquil and cool. Once inside we had the most friendly welcome from a really lovely lady. Despite there being a bit of a language barrier, we were given lots of recommendations for places to eat and were made to feel at home. The room itself was very comfortable and we felt very safe staying there. The hotel is just a short walk from the Tracopa bus station and central San Jose.

we took the bus from the airport and walked about 1.8 km to the accommodation. The next day we walked 500m to the bus terminal. really great. Very close. The outside doesn't give an idea of ​​how beautiful it is inside.

We arrived at 9pm and the gate was closed. No bell. No sign that showed us that we are right. They phoned for us in the restaurant across the street. Then someone came from the hotel and picked us up. Without the call we would have been lost.

Although we were in constant communication with host’s daughter, we arrived late and host was up, waiting for us. We had a beautiful room next to the indoor summer garden, the bed was super soft and comfortable, the rooms have high ceilings, Victorian/ European style, the wi-fi worked super good for my screen sharing conference and getting in and out was easy as well as very conveniently located to Clinica Biblica. Hats down the best property we’ve stayed at so far- we will be back.

What a lovely place!! It is situated close to the bus station (Tracopa which takes you down to the pacific coast) and was an easy 5 min walk. It's also only a 15 min walk to the heart of San Jose and 5 min walk to China Town. The hotel itself has a lovely court yard the rooms are spotless. The bed is incredibly comfortable and it has also a nice bathroom. The room has a lot of hanging and storage space for clothes. With the high ceiling the room was stunning. Loved that we were allowed to use the kitchen and were made like part of the family. The owners were also really helpful and we loved the stay so much that we returned before our return flight back home. I can really recommend the hotel!
