Hotel 1915 INN & SUITES

Stunning interiors. Every inch of the place is beautiful. My small room-for-one had everything I needed and felt quite luxurious and comfortable. The lounge area is loaded with charm. Architecture, antiques and artworks - all top notch. I was afraid to park overnight on the street But, not a problem. There is a 24hr guarded parking lot just a short walk from the hotel! The 24hr part is important because I had to leave at 5am to return rental car and catch a flight. The route to the airport from the hotel is very direct. At 5am the drive was under 15 minutes.

The location is a little hard to find and to load in because of the small busy streets.

We spent one brief night here as our flight was at 6 a.m. the next day. Sadly we had to leave! As soon as you walk in to the drop-dead gorgeous hotel you want to delay your return home and spend evenings exploring this surprisingly spacious locale. 1915 is an apt name for it, as it maintains a luxurious, historic feel. The hotel was definitely one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen; the surprise of which is made all the more jaw-dropping due to it's unassuming frontage. You definitely feel as if you are stepping back in time, and everywhere you look there is another thoughtfully-curated piece to observe. I also want to thank the staff, Darwin the manager went above and beyond to help us with not only parking (which I had unfortunately forgotten to reserve) but our last-minute request to leave at 3:30 a.m. in order to drop off our rental car and make our flight in time. He was incredibly gracious, friendly, kind, and helpful to the nth degree. He made sure our check in went quickly and smoothly, helped us to the private parking lot (with attendant), and woke up himself to let us out at that ungodly hour. Thank you Darwin! We cannot wait to return to Alajeula and spend time at the gorgeous property. The location of which also cannot be beat!

Downtown location close to markets and restaurants. Beautiful old building. Even if rooms in ground floor a little dark, we didn’t mind, since it was functional and the overall property and common areas were very nice.

Wi-Fi not good in rooms. Very strict check-in timing, even though rooms were available they made us wait until exactly 2pm to check us in. But when we complained, they seemed to take note, and Darwin was very helpful and allowed us to checkout an hour later.

Perfect place to stay my last night in Costa Rica. this place is an oasis in the midst of the hassle and bustle of Alajuela. I had a lot of hours to burn before my flight home and I’m so grateful I stayed at this hotel as the common areas are so lovely and comfortable! I spent the day reading on one of the sofas next all the plants. the room itself was also very comfortable and clean. in fact the whole place is extremely clean and the owner was lovely and all the staff were very nice and welcoming! I didn’t try the breakfast but I was allowed to use the kitchen facilities (outside breakfast hours) which was really helpful.

no Wifi in the rooms - only in the common areas. also the room I was in didn’t have windows as such so it was quite dark in the room in the morning. Also there were dogs barking very loudly outside my room at night which was very annoying but nothing a pair of earplugs couldn’t solve. additionally the owner has a very annoying chihuahua that wouldn’t stop barking the entire day I spent there!

The friendly staff, the interesting decor and the clean bright room were great. I had a very restful night before flying back home the next day. After weeks of cold showers and living outdoors during my travels it was lovely to have such a nice clean relaxing room!

Two tiny things: the wifi didn't reach all the way into the room, and the room (room 5 I believe) had some noise from the back alley. If someone was having a break back there you could hear the sounds from their phones or voices. However - all that noise stopped at bedtime and it was never more than a single person seemingly having a smokebreak or something.

We have always enjoyed our stay with Hotel 1915. The outside is very humble but once you step inside it is s a really tranquil and beautiful hotel. A few indoor gardens, quiet and calm. A classic style inside with a couple lounge rooms. The vibration there is peaceful and serene. Great staff. Great location. Walking distance to resturaunts. We recommend Curcuma and La Mexi cana.

Smaller pillows. I prefer a little flatter pillow.

I was completely surprised at the first time I saw this place! It is well kept and a Historical Inn. I paid for breakfast during my stay and it was top notch in all respects. The entire staff I dealt with were very nice a polite and made sure my stay was with them was going as I expected. I highly recommend anyone coming to or going through Alejuela to stay at Hotel 1915! I definitely will!

I love this hotel and stay here every time I pass through on my way to and from my residence in Costa Rica. The property is immaculate and in a perfect location. The property is owned by a Costa Rican family and they are very attentive to your needs. When in Alajuela, I can't imagine staying anywhere else, and I am surprised that more people do not stay here. This is clearly one of the best properties in the area

They could provide a separate key for the front door for their guests. The front door stays locked, which is fine, but you have to ring the doorbell to get in. At times, it takes a while for them to open the door. This is a minor inconvenience that can be corrected by issuing a front door key to their guests.

We loved the beautiful building where hotel is located. They made an excellent renovation, the design is wonderful ! We stayed in the room without air conditioner and did not really need it. The room has only skylight in the washroom, no windows, but it is an advantage not a disadvantage for this area. The pictures on the site shows you exactly what you get. All the stuff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. And private secure parking was a great bonus. For the price we payed we’ve got much more then we expected! La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park and La Paz Volcano are both in 50 minutes to drive from the hotel.

I liked the quirkiness of the hotel and it’s non corporate feel. The sitting areas are tasteful, old fashioned in decor and quiet. Much greenery is incorporated by virtue of open to the air ceilings. Very near the wonderful plaza and cathedral. Also near the market and bus stations.

Rooms are quite simple, often without windows to the outside (which would actually allow more street noise), but they do have interesting skylights.
