Hotel Capellán de Getsemaní

The staff were absolutely brilliant, particularly Elizabeth on reception. She went out of her way to help us make arrangements for our daily activities, giving sound advice on the best things to do, assisting with bookings, taxis and more. She even set up a chat on WhatsApp and made sure to message us, even on her days off, to check everything had gone smoothly. The hotel itself felt like a second home, a vibe created by the warmth, friendliness and attentiveness of their wonderful staff. We stayed in 4 different hotels during our stay and this was by far our favourite!

It would have been great to have had a slightly larger pool but an almost insignificant issue given the hotel's location and how much there is to do in the area.

Our eight (8) day stay in March-2023, at the hotel, (Capellan de Getsemani), was amazing. We were there along with various other family members, who also stayed at the hotel, who were also very satisfied. All the staff in all the depts., were very polite, very well trained and very helpful. The floor manager was especially attentive in helping us with our special emergency needs. There were two employees, (in particular), at the front desk who went all out of their way to help us, while we were there. The bellboy at the front door was always present to help; the check-in, was fast, our special requests for the room modifications were immediately attended to, through the help of the check-in, front-desk clerk. On another occasion, another front-desk employee, was very helpful in making emergency calls for us and in helping us to make changes to our flight plans, that ensued. The included breakfast every morning was excellent. It included a fruit dish, other hot & cold breakfast items, etc. The attention by restaurant staff was also great. The maids came in promptly everyday to clean and disinfect the rooms and were very fast and efficient in, so doing. Other staff members within the hotel were also very polite and attentive. The roof-top pool and jacuzzi areas were acessible by elevator and stairs. The terrace offered a nice view of the modern "Playa Grande", high-rise building skyline, in the distance. We would highly recommend this hotel for its location; just within the Getsemani area, but yet within walking distance of the main cultural district in the region of the historic "Clock Tower" and other touristic sites. absolutely beautiful property, located at the start of getsemani, and easy to reach the old town what I love is about this hotel were all the small touches. When we arrived, we were given a wet towel that smelt nice to freshen up. We had some arrival cheese and charcuterie in our room. Every evening we were given a little snack. All of these things made the stay exceptional. The coffee that they served at breakfast was some of the best coffee that I have tasted in Columbia. and the bonus is that above the swimming pool there is a deck with an amazing view of the city where there is also a Jacuzzi. It seemed that not a lot of people knew about this. So whilst everybody in all of Cartagena are crowding rooftop bars to watch the sunset, we had a completely available terrace on our own with a Jacuzzi with an amazing view, overseeing the city. This is an absolute gem, and I highly recommend this hotel to anybody, without a shadow of a doubt.

The staff was fantastic. Also the facilities were beautiful. Also in a central location.

The windows have spaces that allow mosquitos in so we had to keep bug spray on in the room. The pictures on booking of the room also do not match the descriptions so I thought i was upgrading myself to a specific room but the photo was incorrect.

Everything. Breakfast was very good. Restaurant is excellent. The staff was very good. The waiter we had, Junior, was very attentive. Senor Rey was so attentive to our needs. The hotel supplied us with a wheel chair when we went to the fortress. The decoration of the hotel was lovely. The rooftop pool and look out was great. The mango sticks brought up by Inti Maria was a very nice touch to keep the guests cool while sunning. My last meal, ceviche natural, eaten on the look out level was excellent.

The sheets and/or comforter did not breathe so it was a bit moist.

The staff is absolutely wonderful and helpful. They make you feel like royalty with first class treatment. The property and rooms are sparkling clean, and the lobby has that soothing spa aroma when you walk in. A pitcher of refreshing water is always available in the lobby for guests. The property has lush tropical plants within its corridors. The linens and toiletries provided in our room were very good. Also, our room was quiet considering all the nightlife and traffic in the surrounding neighborhood.

The window shade in our room didn’t block out all the exterior light. The good thing is that I could wake up earlier to get the most of the day.

A very, very high level place, it is easy to see how much investment and thought was put into the hotel. The hotel looks amazing, very clean, luxurious and high quality. The hotel staff are very nice people. The roof of the hotel with the pool and the beds is very nice. Excellent location near the old city. In short - we were more than satisfied and recommend!

In my opinion there could be a little more stuff in the breakfast (there are things that I think are basic that were not included in the meal and you have to add money for them like yogurt, avocado).

Capellan Hotel in Getsemani is a special place to stay in Cartagena. First I want to speak about Getsemani: it is a popular and traditional neighborhood with culture, a good food scene, and a magic environment in its streets with dancing and street art. Perfect for discovering other sides of Cartagena. The rooms are big and comfortable, the beds are big and smell amazing, and personally, I loved the smell in all of the hotel. The spa and its services are absolutely stunning. The “Relaxing Massage” is very recommended. It's a little pricey but worth it. Excellent location, service, and environment

The breakfast that's included with your rate is definitely unremarkable, not bad at all, but the options are minimal. I was expecting a little bit more on this side considering the rate that was paid. The hotel's restaurant does offer a wide variety of options (which are very good), but everything is extra.

Beautiful boutique hotel in Getsemani and only a short walk from the old city. Getsemani is an absolute must visit - we almost enjoyed it more than the old city! The hotel had a lovely rooftop pool and bar and the rooms were fantastic. The staff were all incredible - particularly Jhonatan on the front desk who went above and beyond to help us, with nothing being too much trouble. He helped us with local recommendations and organising trips to the islands - we can’t thank him enough for making our stay so special!

honestly I’m so fussy with hotels and as it had some mixed reviews I was a little worried but it really was a 10/10 stay. the rooms are beautiful the food is delicious, the hotel is quiet and peaceful and the staff are amazing. beautiful settings just really really fab all round ✨✨✨

sometimes they didn’t have things that were on the menu and the first day we arrived service was slow at the restaurant but they were apologetic and the food was gorgeous so it made up for it!
