Peking International Youth Hostel

1) The location. Right in the thick of a very cozy and vibrant neighbourhood with minimal cars and endless shops and trees. 2) Decent communal areas. 3) Cool cafes all around (Wiggly Jiggly is best - 2 lanes away). 4) Pillows are excellent.

1) The bathroom of the private room (206) really stinks of mould. 2) The lack of English in ALL staff is shocking for an official HI hostel (they fully depend on their phones for translation, can't answer anything before in writing or on the phone). 3) The old dude who cares for the place at late night is an outdated a*s hole, 4) The Americans who stay there are politically insensitive to the country, loud, ignorant yet think they're informed (worst type of ignorance) and worse than the miserable bitter old man as company. 5) The price of the private room is 100 USD - incomprehensible.

Nice location close to many touristic places (the street has many cafes, restsurants and souvenir shops) and metro station. The rooms were comfortable, enough space for everyone. Each person gets a locker (with key), curtain on bed and personal light. Even though the people at the reception don't speak English very well, they use translators to understand you and are always ready to help.

Looking back, I think that this hostel was a bit overpriced but the reason for this might really be the top location.

The best location for solo travelers! I'd definitely stay here again when I visit Beijing. Reception couldn't speak English, but they were very friendly. We were able to communicate through translating apps.

It’s in a central busy tourist spot in the hutong and close to the metro, but somehow super quiet inside! Walking distance to many interesting places. There’s a nice comfy common area with lots of couches where you can meet other travellers. The staff are very helpful and booked me a taxi to the airport. They have free water and also cheap cold drinks. A locker with lock is provided. There’s a rooftop where they showed a movie on a projection screen.

No VPN on the wifi (so make sure you already have one set up on your device!) The bed was quite firm and the pillow small but I think this is normal in China.

It’s incredibly well located, just a few minutes from 2 metro lines and you can walk to quite a few of Beijing’s main attractions directly from the hostel too. The main appeal is that it’s on a Hutong full of food and drink places, so it’s very easy to find somewhere great to eat. As a solo traveler it had a good vibe and I met quite a few other people to explore with. The hostel is also a good size - big enough to meet people but not huge.

The staff didn’t speak English but they always did their best using translation apps so it worked well enough. The hostel wasn’t full but I imagine that there could be a lack of showers if it were fuller.

The location was very good. Sound proofing was good. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful, especially 小胡。

WIFI weak, hardly any in the bedroom. Bathroom could be brighter and cleaner. The shower cubicle is not clean. Please give the tiles in the shower cubicle a good scrub. The metal shelf for the towels are way too high! One of the hooks on the wall is missing, and one is loosely attached.

The location of Peking Youth Hostel is great, it's easy to find and the subways station (Line 6 & 8) is just a few hundred meters away. Even though the hotel is on a very populated street called "Nanluoguxiang", but since it's located in a residential area, it's actual pretty quiet during the night.

The 2 beds classic family room is tight, no closets, just wall rack. The bathroom has a little bit sewage smell, so it's best to keep the bathroom door closed. Wifi was slow (about 4Mbps download speed), it can use an upgrade.

The location is absolutely amazing! The street is so nice, lot’s of food and shops, metro station is super close and walking zone around is gorgeous. Hostel is quite comfortable and clean with cute cafe. I stayed in female room and it consisted of only two beds, felt private. Staff is helpful and caring

not as a minus but keep in mind that there will be no shower cosmetics and be ready to pay for towel rental

Very well located, this hostel is great if you are travelling solo and want to meet fellow travellers. It offers good value for money, and it is very well located next to a bunch of food options and Nanluoguxiang subway station

Feels a bit expensive for what you get. Room was not very comfortable, hot water was not working and it is not super clean

You meet nice people and get to explore the city with them, the staff is super pleasant, location is perfect( the subway is 100m away and takes you anywhere you want). Everyone is super respectful. They have a DIY built terrace on the rooftop which was very cool for morning coffees.
