Holiday Inn Sydney - Waterfront, an IHG Hotel

The location was great for the purpose of our trip. The staff were great and while everyone did their job, i didn't walk away feeling anyone tried to put in any extra effort. That being said, there was nothing disappointing in the service we got.

Only real thing i can complain about was sleep. A painful awakening. I am used to a much firmer mattress and after only 4 or 5 hours of sleep. The beds we had, i was competely sore for about 2 to 3 hours after deciding i couldn't continue to lay down. I had to sit up and prop myself up with pillows and nod off in that position.

While we had a very short overnight stay and all we needed was a shover and a comfy bed with clean sheets in order to continue next day with our travel plans, we were pleasantly surprised with the view from the window, both at night but mostly in the morning. We were in close vicinity to the Big Fiddle!! Bonus, in the morning we watched a cruise ship approaching and mooring in the harbor. This was quite a unique spectacle!

The ac unit was a bit noisy in the beginning, but being tired, once we fell asleep, we didn't hear a peep.

The location was perfect. The staff showed us a way to get down to the boardwalk on the shore line without having to go down stairs or hills. We both have problems with stairs and my wife has issues with climbing hills due to a heart condition. The staff was great about it. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff there was terrific. Helpful and friendly. The first night we were there we were told that one of the servers had just started and it was his first night. We both agreed he did a fabulous job and we told him so.

I wish there had been laundry facilities.

Good sized room overlooking the harbour. Comfortable bed and accessible shower. Excellent breakfast, no problem with gluten free. Car parking was rather disorganised but there was space. We were able to walk along the harbour boardwalk to the Big Fiddle and the small shops before we left. An ideal stay after the 7 hour crossing from Newfoundland.

I booked the room through a third party. When we checked in, my first and last name were reversed, and the staff could not find my reservation. The manager quickly stepped in to help, and it was then they realized the error made by the third-party booking site. For my inconvenience, which was not their fault, the staff gave me a much better rate. That doesn't happen every day. They remained calm, friendly and helpful the whole time.

Location was nice, staff were super nice but few facilities were missing in the room like a kettle or a microwave. Always had to go to the lobby to warm milk for my daughter which wasn't handy. Also, the concept of Ala cart breakfast instead of a buffet was something new and I missed the buffet style breakfast. But there is a great pub downstairs with live music which made up for the missing facilities.

The bed was comfy and the room was roomy. The place was nice overall. The view fantastic and the it was clean.

The amenities were lacking. Toiletries were very cheap and small. The towels were super rough and uncomfortable. The coffee was also very cheap and poor tasting, as well the additives(whitener and sugar) were bottom of the barrel powder.

Great room with a good sized bed. Plenty of on site parking. Lovely view over the harbour from dusk aspect windows.

The location wasn’t great - I was looking for a road trip stop on my way round cape Breton but not sure I’d recommend others stop in Sydney (unless I missed the good bits).

great location close to a lot of great places to eat and have fun! our room had an amazing view and was cozy and clean!

the parking lot could use some fixing up, and the stairs from the lower lot; but was nice how much parking there was for such a central hotel! made it less stressful

First of all great location and an excellent breakfast with the harbour view. My room also had a harbour view. The beds are comfortable, and no disturbance in the room.

I dont like the parking lot of the hotel. In winter, with the snow, getting in and out of the car can be challenging.
