The Baker Hotel

The character and history of this building were so interesting and intriguing. The room was super clean, and there were absolutely no issues whatsoever. The bed was so comfortable!! There was a laundry room that we utilized. The staff were so friendly and welcoming.

About the only negative thing we can report is that being on 2nd floor corner room it was noisy. Being Friday night, the pub was rockin and the drinks were flowing, so those shenanigans carried out to the street, but we turned on the a/c to muffle some of the hootin and hollering. No big deal, really. And the parking, if you are lucky to get rock star parking in front of the door, dont leave because you surely will lose it.

Location of the Hotel is downtown close restaurants and shops. The Hotel is a heritage building and has a quaint atmosphere. It celebrates the history of the CPR with numerous photos and old adverts on it's walls. That said the room I stayed in was very modern.

The only complaint would be a little street noise due to it's location. If you are light sleeper this might keep you up at night, but Cranbrook is small town and is generally quiet. note this is a very minor complaint.

Loved the old hotel and that it was being fixed up. Our room had the eclectic look and a very large comfy bed. We were told by staff that the rooms were being updated, but please keep it a bit eclectic. Not like a boring old hotel room! The location is excellent - very close to a park and many good restaurants. We went to the Heid-out twice for dinner we liked it so much! We will come to stay again as we really liked Cranbrook and the old hotel! The three people who helped us out at the hotel were all very nice.

Perfect overnight stay on our way from Spokane to Banff. Ian was very accommodating. He was concerned about the step in tub due to my husband's age. He offered us another room. On the way back we stayed again and needed an extra pillow. The man at the desk was very accommodating. The room was very clean, nicely updated. Wish there was an elevator, but but worker offered to help carry bags upstairs. We would stay again.

This was a fun place and Ian was great in providing extra support and information about the area. I loved the laundry area and the view from our room. The proximity to the market and restaurants was terrific. the bedding and shampoos, etc were all fantastic.

The air conditioning was super loud and the room really could use black out curtains. I struggled to sleep with the loud a.c. but the windows didn't allow enough cool air.

- it is perfectly in downtown - building has its charm - restaurant and park in jump distance - parking ( from 4pm - 9 am ) directly at the hotel for free or on designated parking lot 20 m away - floor soundproofing was good, could not hear a word / sound from restaurant below

- in comparison to floor, windows were like open, you could hear every car / truck on the intersection - the hallway and feel of hotel outside the rooms is weird, not so good - the stairs are normally ok, but really steep

The hotel is beautifully renovated and the rooms are spacious, comfortable and supplied with high quality, bulk toiletries. The beverage cups are actual coffee mugs and water glasses.

The engine noise from the street as well as parking lots is loud and frequent. I realize this is not in the Hotel management's control however it lowers the quality of the overall experience.

It was a nice hotel for the price. The staff were decent. It was pretty clean. The bed had lots of pillows which is always a plus. The TV was a decent size too. It had a decent location with a bar below and a sushi place next door.

The room was much smaller than I thought. I got the "superior queen room". I thought it would be larger. The room was also really dark. I think one of the lights was burnt out...

Loved the location! Walked to the Heidout for dinner, it was an excellent meal. Was able to hike on trails bordering a national park. The room was clean and loved the decor, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

No elevator and our room was two flights up. Not a problem for us but wanted to list this as a negative for anyone with mobility problems.

Delightfully friendly and calm, perfectly quiet, immaculate and charming. We’re seniors, and desk clerk offered to carry our bags up, although the stairs are entirely manageable. We had a view across town to the mountains on the horizon. Great location for dining downtown. Small town charm. Fully renovated and air conditioned.
