Anchor Inn and Suites

From arrival to departure we had an excellent stay. Check in was friendly, welcoming, and fast. Our first-floor, pet-friendly room was very clean and boasted a wonderful view with a balcony. Service in the dining room was professional and helpful. Our meals were very good. We met several nice people while walking our pups. Check-out in the morning was quick and easy. It was a bonus that self-service carts were provided at entry to easily bring luggage, etc., to the room. Several reviews complain about the elevators, which we simply found quirky. The hotel was built in different stages, making a contiguous elevator impossible, since the hotel backs up to a hillside. Yes, it's quirky, but for us it wasn't a big deal. There are separate parking areas serving the top section of the hotel and the bottom floors of the hotel.

The first floor hallway entry carpets need cleaning or replacement. A bag of laundry was left by the elevators. Both minor concerns.

I have stayed here before and it is reliable. All the rooms have a water view looking East, every room has a balcony. The accommodations are basic but very comfortable (excellent mattresses and pillows). Soundproofing could be a bit better but guests are generally well behaved and go to sleep at a reasonable time. Wifi is good and reliable. My room has always had a microwave and fridge, maybe they all do. Cleanliness is top-notch, room always smells and looks immaculate when I arrive. Rooms face away from the nearby highway so not much traffic noise.

There was some confusion when I arrived this time, my booking.com reservation had not been properly printed out and filed at the front desk. A junior employee (clearly a recent hire) staffing the desk was puzzled by the situation and I had to wait a while to get it sorted out. This is the first time I have ever had any problem of any kind however -- every other time I have stayed here the booking has been totally painless. The staff are always pleasant and courteous. I have only a few small gripes -- the parking lot between the motel and the water is imho too brightly lit which spoils the night time view, the room doors slam very loudly. But these are trivial things.

Beautiful view of the strait. Loved the breeze coming off the water. Great food and service in the restaurant. Staff was great and very helpful.

Our room was on the first floor at the north end of the hotel and the banging of the fire door on the parking level from people going in and out for a cigarette was a bit annoying. The smell of cigarette smoke and pot smoke was also a bit nauseating, which meant we had to close our balcony door alot.

We arrived in the dark, having had to book last minute to avoid construction traffic/closures on Highway 4, so imagine the surprise when we woke. A stunning location and great sea views. Room spacious and beds comfortable. Also really useful having a fridge in the room (something we’ve discovered the Canadians do well!) Breakfast was also great. Again fabulous views, and excellent service.

Our only negative is noisy air conditioning - ear plugs a must.

Great waterfront view! Pleasant, helpful staff who offered to help with my bags when they noticed I was looking tired and sore from my travels. Nice comfortable and quiet room.

I sure would have liked to know that there wasn't an elevator. Even though I only had to climb one flight of stairs, after a long day that felt terribly daunting. The fridge was in the entranceway, I thought it an odd placement and wondered if it might have been better to tuck it in on the opposite side of the room.

The accommodations exceeded our expectations- especially since we were travelling with a large dog. The complimentary breakfast was definitely a welcomed surprise.

The only thing we did not like was there was some sort of wedding or class reunion happening at the hotel and the guests were uncaring of anyone else. Since we were on the ground floor we witnessed everything. The drunk frivolity in the parking lot. The screaming and fights in the hallway outside our door at 12:30 in the morning. It was all a little too much. However, we recognize this was the behaviour of the guests and out of the control of the hotel staff. This kind of thoughtlessness can happens at every hotel.

The staff was top notch. Coming from the states I had an issue with my card. This had the potential to be disastrous but the staff was so chill and let us use cash instead. The room was cute and clean. The views were amazing and we sat on the deck and had a beer with more views. Their breakfast is reasonably priced and all around great experience.

I got lost a few times because the place is a maze but that's not really a true negative lol :)

Liked the ocean veiw, free breakfast and pool and hot tub. Though I fell coming out of the pool and sprained my foot was very bruised, because someone left the floor super wet! Spent my last few days limping and in pain.😭

The breakfast could have been tended to better rather than new food dumped on old. And maybe different some days? Chef on last day was slow to fill anything, people waited to eat.😭 The bathrooms are so incredibly small you have to walk all the way in to close the door. Taps we wonky needed to turn cold up once shower was on to make it hot?!?

There was confusion regarding the fact that we booked a pet friendly room It was sorted out and we were accommodated The front desk staff member was super friendly and helpful. Also we had asked if we needed reservations for the restaurant and were told we didn't when actually we did. Again the staff member at the front desk was wonderful Both scenarios could have been a disaster but was handled smoothly and professionally. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

The room was comfortable, had a nice view, and the staff were very pleasant and attentive. The directions for accessing your room were very well explained as the floors can be a little confusing given the fact that the facility is built against a sea wall. Checking in and out was very efficient.

The restaurant was not located in an easily asscessible area in relation to the guest rooms. You had to walk through several hallways and different levels to reach the restaurant. Not a problem for those without mobility issues. However, some of the elderly guests seemed to have a difficult time negotiating the stairs and locating the restaurant.
