Holiday Inn Calgary Airport, an IHG Hotel

A good location for us to attend a specific event which was the reason for the trip. The hotel overall was clean with a nice lobby and nice common areas. It was 35 degree Celsius when we arrived and our room air-conditioning did not work. The room was very hot. Repair workers were sent up and tried to fix it...but could not. We were then moved to another room that was very comfortable.

There was no breakfast included but it could be purchased for $10 per person per night. There was no explanation on line what was offered for breakfast so we didn't sign up for it at time of booking. Upon check in....we were asked if we would like breakfast. We asked about it and it sounded good so we agreed, thinking it was $10 each per day. It was more than that.....but before we said "no thanks"......someone said OK......we could have it for $10......so we did have a nice breakfast both mornings. I must add.......when I went to get the new set of keys for our new room. The person helping me was very apologetic about the inconvenience and also cancelled the cost of our breakfasts. We really appreciated that!

Pleasantly surprised by the quality i.e. upgrading of the room. very comfortable, nicely furnished, quiet, staff were very helpful, friendly.

Too few TV channels, i.e, history/discovery channels, sports, free movie channels. Also difficulty in figuring out how to turn on air conditioning after we had turned it off for the night. Had to ask for assistance from maintenance personnel, it was a simple step, but we would never have known what we were doing wrong. Also I had booked the hotel in error, thinking that "Airport" meant near the Calgary airport in the newer hotel district north of the airport. I was somewhat disappointed when I actually checked the address, however it turned out to be fine as we are very familiar with this area of Calgary, we found it easily (no GPS or Google Maps needed) and the amenities of the hotel made up for my error.

In general, the hotel is clean and has everything you need but the staff is very busy or not responsible. My family and I drove 10 hours on the road, we were very tired from the road and were served at the reception desk for a very long time. In the end, they gave us the key to the room, but we go into the room, and people have already settled in that room. At the reception, they do not know in which rooms people live in them! We went to change the room, it also took some time for us to change the room and this room turned out to be closed in this room, the lock was broken and the door was jammed. On the third attempt, we were given a normal number. Service at the reception should be better and friendlier.

the breakfast charges was so confusing on the first day of our stays. our booking email says $10/ per person, but when we had our breakfast, the waitress asked if we have voucher from the hotel. we said I didn’t know that and didn’t have it, then the waitress said we needed to pay directly to the hotel restaurant and the pay was way more than $10. so I had to go the hotel front desk to ask for the voucher in the middle of my breakfast time . why the front desk staff didn’t explain this to me and provided the voucher when I checked in. doesn’t make sense!

The location was very good. However, the hotel sign should not indicate near airport and should be removed.

Things I did not like The bed was too high for my senior mother although I requested access room. I didn't like the service at the restaurant. I went for dinner with my family on the 2nd floor.The waitress kicked the glass of water on the table when she placed my order and the water splashed everywhere on my cloth, peirce, and the chair. She apologized politely. However, I was expecting at least my order would be reduced or waived or a complementary sweet would be offered or any other kind? Non of this happened and I paid full charge for my order?

The buffet breakfast was excellent! The shuttle pickup was very quick - especially considering the distance. Very friendly staff, good service. Special kudos to the girls looking after the buffet, quick to refill and clean up.

The "kitchenette" was no more than a small counter close to the entrance door with a coffeemaker and a noisy fridge underneath. The empty cabinet above is too large and too low. Easy to bump your head on one of the nasty corners. The rooms are outdated, something I can live with provided the room price is reasonable.

The only hotel in Canada that has delivered an actual disabled shower room. Thank you. Staff were very helpful and thank you Rose in the dining room. Good breakfast and thanks to reception staff for advising me to buy the breakfast ticket on check in. The appetiser I had (Nachos) was enough for 3 people and I couldn't finish it ! The pool area looked lovely. A pity I didn't get chance to try it out. Very easy to drive to the airport after my stay and drop off the rental car.

Not much space to negotiate the luggage trolley into my room. Doors banging!

the room was nice and warm when I arrived at 2 am plus the bed and pillows were so comfy

i asked for a late checkout they said I could only stay till 1 pm I offered to pay to stay till 3 pm and they said no . my flight was 8 pm that day so I sat at airport from 2 -8

They were flexible at the desk letting me change my booking for a cheaper rate at check in withAMA. The beds are very comfortable and rooms fit my needs Staff were friendly

Understand Reno’s have to be done but was a bit distracting and affected the look of the halls as baseboards were being replaced otherwise nothing specific to complain about Except the bedside lamp had a broken switch so to turn it off it had to be unplugged from the wall yet it was were I needed to charge my phone Instead had to use an outlet away from the bed

Location was great for me, free parking lot , clean and bed was very comfy

I stayed there 3 day without toilet paper in the washroom, i asked them many times to give me toilet paper… that was so annoying , how is the house keeper clean the room without putting toilet paper.. and the staff very serious they can’t even smile on my face .. otherwise everything thing was good
