Rio Othon Palace

Location fronting the beach was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful and diverse. View from the room was very nice. Lots of shops to walk to.

Rooms were a bit dated and had the old power outlets which did not work with new converter I had brought. On the day of my sons wedding, the power went out in the hotel. It was off most of the day. It was a huge inconvenience and caused very difficult situations. The hotel did compensate us for the one day hotel charge so I feel like they did the best they cold to fix the situation. Thank you for that.

We got an upgrade from Super Luxury Room with Frontal Sea View to Suite with Frontal Sea View . The view is absolutely fantastic . The facilities must have been exceptional when the hotel was new but now the lack of refurbishmente in recent years shows clearly wich is a pity because due to the location and (for Copacabana) exceptional height of the building the comfort could be exceptional . Breakfast at the Skylab restaurant was exceptional and all meals which we had at this restaurant were very good and also the service . The fitness center of the hotel is so well equipped that it could serve professional athletes . Check-in and check-out were fast and friendly .

As mentioned above , the hotel needs a general refurbishment , especially the rooms . Certain items seem to be overpriced like beveridges from the minibar and the parking facility .

The hotel located in a middle of Copacabana, beach front and have access to almost everything. the room was large enough to be comfortable and the bed was great. breakfast was served as a buffet very well and hot & cold dishes can be choose much more better. The staff very mostly smiley, kind and helpful.

There were only three things we didn't like them as a family during our 7 nights of stay. 1- Housekeepers didn't really care about dusting the tables much. they didn't even chanted the sheets for 6 nights at all. further more, they didn't even vacuum the floor of the room during our 7 nights of stay. :( 2- The water pursuer was not good at all nights and days, besides the cold water tab was not working properly. 3- We have booked a two queen beds room in advanced, but they gave us a double bed room instead as they had no available room as they mentioned. :(

The location by Copacabana beach is great, with access to nearby cafes as well. You are also not far from Ipanema beach. The breakfast buffet is varied and interesting, and the pool, sauna and steam room are all good (and the roof top view is excellent). The room was decent with nice views of the beach.

The sliding window didn't closed completely or wasn't fully sealed, so it was a little noisy (particularly in the evening) in the room. This wasn't a big problem because I sleep well and I was on a high floor, so away from the noise, but I could imagine people more disturbed more noise might be affected.

Great location and sea view in front of Copacabana. Hotel is offering beach towels and seats (however in limited number if you do not arrive early enough). Breakfast was great. Good service. Beds are very confortable. We had once an extra meal at the roof top with great view as well.

Great sea view has a counter part since windows are with simple glass : there is permanent noise due to traffic / sea / wind below (maybe lateral / back side rooms are more quiet).. Taxis are frequently passing through in front of the hotel ; it is better to pick one (with taximeter), than to ask the hotel that will lead you to special taxi with fixed fare.

Definitely the location, and breakfast variety

The check in was taking ages, ( 25 minutes) I mean for almost every guest. Ridiculous. No tea or coffee facilities in the room, not even a stupid kettle. I'm sorry but even 2** hotel in London have a Tea and Coffee facilities. The Pool was always crowded so no chance to get there. And the worst receptionist overcharged me, and if I didn't show him his mistake he wouldn't even bother to check the correct rate

The Rio Othon Palace hotel were certainly the best choice I could possibly make! I did extensive research prior, read all the reviews, watch videos on the internet. It is the highest hotel in Copacabana to my knowledge so you will get the best views!!! This hotels have side balconies so even the room with side balconies get the killer views!!! Book it! We felt very safe in this hotel. The security is amazing, the staff is friendly, the pool was warm, they provide towels, we tried steam room and sauna and it was awesome! I bought a room with breakfast included and it was the best decision ever! This was the best breakfast I've ever had in any hotels in a while! The choice of food was amazingly nice and large! The room was nice and clean! Our room had amazing landmark view from the side balcony! I was so happy! Also tried in the spa a couple massages and it was awesome! Super happy with our choice! The hotel is located right on the beach! Also, side note Copacabana have more things to do when we were here than Ipanema. Ipanema was super quiet and Copacabana had ton of entertainment, awesome live music, bars with drinks, street vendors with gifts and souvenirs and clothes, restaurants, ice cream places, so book this hotel if you want to have fun times!

We haven’t stopped thinking about the breakfast since our stay here. Staff were friendly and allowed us to check in early. The bed was huge and very comfy and the view from our room was amazing! We also were given beach towels to go swimming in the sea, with a dedicated Rio Othon deckchair section. The sauna was also very nice!

The rooftop sun loungers need updating badly. We had dinner in the restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and the service was not good. We had to wave staff over to ask about more drinks and drinks that were forgotten about. I would suggest having one person serve the table as we had 3 waiters and there was a lot of confusion as a young waiter tried to offer us dessert menus after he cleared our starters. They also tried to charge us a lot more for the mini bar than we had used, meaning I had to list each item when we were checking out.

We arrived a bit early and hoped the hotel would simply hold our bags while we walked around Copacabana and ate lunch. The staff were prepared to check us in early despite the repeated messaging that early check-in was not allowed. Diana was a great help! The hotel is located perfectly amongst the beach, nearby restaurants and shopping. The breakfast was plentiful with many options for the whole family. My son utilized the kids club and had a good time even though he was one of the older kids.

The rooftop pool was a bit small and cold. A heated pool would have been nice.

Great view on the ocean side of the property. Front desk staff speaks English very well. Very helpful with anything you need. “Tour guides” are easy to grab at the front door of the hotel. They will drive you places. it’s a little expensive but the cars are nice and clean, they know the area, they are safe, and they will take will wait for you while you are at tourist sites.

To keep electricity on and air conditioning on in the room you need to leave your key in a slot that controls the electric to the room. If you have two keys and leave on in there to come back to a cool room or charged devices, the maid will take the key on her way out.
