Holiday Inn Gent Expo, an IHG Hotel

The staff is excellent. Prompt service.

No restaurants near the hotel and the hotel restaurant closed early but we could order good online.

Facilities are good, it is good for visitors travelling by car as this is bit further away from the city centre. We got adjusted to walking, catching buses and trams, got comfortable in 2 days. The rooms where hot due to central system arranged for November temperature, got adjusted to fan and moved to a room which allows to open to windows. The reception were helpful, Breakfast is good but bit expensive. Good breakfast is available from IKEA just 100 M from the hotel if you prefer more for less !

The receptionist was amazing, so helpful and knowledgeable. I wish I'd got her name. She really was exemplary. We had no idea that the hotel was next to the tram station so that was an unexpected surprise. The receptionist explained to us where to go, giving us guide books, maps and even selling us tram tickets. Couldnt have been more helpful. It was great value considering parking and breakfast was included in the price that we paid. All the staff were very friendly and it was a great hotel.

The loop! Trying to get to the hotel was very difficult. An as vegans, my husband and I didn't have many breakfast options, this could definitely have been improved.

Breakfast and evening dinner were very good. Special mention for Burcu who looked after us during our evening dinner on 8th September and Sandy who looked after us during breakfast on 10/09/2023. The room was adequate although I did upgrade and perhaps expected something a little better.

I do not like to pay for car parking - it is a pity that there was a charge of €7.50 per night for Friday and Saturday night (would have been €15.00 per night on other nights. The hotel is looking a little tired and needs to be updated and refreshed.

I especially have to commend the staff, Michael, Jessie, Paul, Joaquim and Moano for their professionalism and courteousness to me. They all went above and beyond to make my stay here as comfortable as possible considering the lockdown here in Belgium. I sincerely hope that they are all recognized and commended for their work ethics!

I would recommend having a paper shredder on site for disposal of sensitive information for the guests use.

Only one major problem, and very little has been done since our last visit 5 years ago. Access to the hotel by road is LOWSY - circular roads, weird one-way system, IKEA access roads, huge car parks surround these two buildings, but it’s like driving through a maze. There needs to be more signage (both on the road surface and at eye level)! You can SEE the hotel, but have to have FIVE attempts to arrive successfully at its entrance.

Staff was very nice. Room was big, bathroom too. Well equipped. Breakfast was excellent considering the type of hotel. Bread, fruits, cheese, eggs, everything, very complete breakfast. The room for breakfast is big with natural lighting from roof. The hotel has a tram station at 50-70 meters that has trams every 20m that take you to city center. The same tram line passes by the major train station. From hotel to center should be 10m-15m

For our group as we were they to ride the Tour of Flanders Cycle the location was great just by the main road system and within a couple of mins walk to the tram stop to get into the centre of Gent. The hotel is slightly dated by modern standards but very clean. The front of house team where superb and able to help out on any queries we had including sorting out somewhere to store bikes. The breakfast we had was great and the evening meal we had was nice I opted for stew. The room was comfortable and I got good nights sleep on all our three days stay.

Room - The air con system needs updating and didn't work very well at all. Bar - There is a main bar just by the foyer which I used last time I stayed here however this is now closed I asked about this and was told they didn't have the budget instead you use a bar just downstairs by the restaurant which was not particularly inviting the closed bar is much better l Breakfast Price - Thought 17 Euros was a tad expensive however is was good

Close proximity to motorway network; ample parking space (fee payable); comfortable room with everything in working order; good selection of TV channels; friendly and efficient staff; good breakfast selection; 200m from the tram stop to take you into the heart of Gent. The hotel is absolutely fine for a short stay whether on business or leisure, but not for a family holiday.

Cooked breakfast food could have been hotter. External appearance looking a bit 'tired'.

breakfast options was ok can have some more options if food. Tram is just 200 meter but due to construction no tram was available, we ended up walking like 10-15 mins to take the bus, no attraction nearby the hotel, expo was turned to covid vaccination spot. Due to distance it takes more then 45mins to deliver food by Uber eats and others..
