Absolutely perfect for a night in Hobart - right in the centre of everything. Shared bathrooms are not an issue and should not deter a visit. It is akin to staying at a mate's place. Wrap a towel around you and wander down.

Really was flawless, 'you get what you pay for'. It is all you need to rest your head and feel safe, warm and rested. Like staying with a friend in Hobart you didn't know you had.

Great hotel in a super convenient location. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and the shared bathrooms are always super clean. The best part however is the bar which is super social and well priced. The staff are friendly, the vibe is very chill and laid back, and the bar was busy throughout the afternoon - often with more locals than guests which made it easy to meet people and see more of what the city has to offer if you’re outgoing. Overall amazing place to spend your time in Hobart, especially as a solo traveller or if you want a more social spot to stay.

We loved the hotel and really like the affordable option of sharing bathrooms to save some money, but still having a private room of our own. We also loved the common room and bar, and the staff were lovely.

The bathrooms still felt a bit too “backpacker” and could be upgraded to really elevate the experience. We have stayed in similar shared bathroom hotels before where the shared bathrooms were slightly more luxurious (proper enclosed bathrooms rather than stalls) so we think an upgrade like this would be a huge value add for Alabama.

Clean, nicely decorated hotel in great location. Check in and out process was easy. Really enjoyed my stay. Was very happy about the fridge and shelves in the room especially.

Not the hotel's fault but sharing a bathroom unfortunately comes with inconsiderate people, like the one woman who kept leaving her hair all over the sink forcing other guests to clean up after her if they wanted to use it. Don't be like her if you share a bathroom. Always leave it the way you found it.

The atmosphere and decoration was very eclectic and cosy. The bed was really nice and comfortable. The location was perfect and overall it was a great option for the price it had. I almost never choose a shared bathroom hotel, but I liked so much the pictures and the reviews that I decided to go. I don't regret at all. I hardly met anyone when going to the bathroom. Each floor had its own ladies and men's bathrooms, and they were very clean. Since you don't have a sink in your bedroom they offer bottles of water and glasses so you can always have water to drink in your bedroom. They don't have 24h reception but the process for the check in and check out was very simple.

Same hotel with individual bathrooms and 24h reception would be a 10, but it would also be a different experience.

I enjoyed my short stay at Alabama Hotel. For me it was not a hotel to hang out at - just super convenient for sleeping and showering. I was too busy during the day to spend time at the hotel. Although I'm sure the bar would be fun to hang out at and have a few cocktails. Alabama served it's purpose well for my stay. All the staff I interacted with were friendly, happy and happy to help. Shared bathrooms were no problem for me - they were always clean, the water was super hot and I never had to wait :) Location was perfect for me and only 5 mins walk from the Skybus bus stop.

Loved The Alabama! The hotel itself looks amazing and has a great eclectic vibe :) Love the hanging flamingoes, and the art prints and murals, and the complimentary water and glasses on each floor. The staff (Jimmy and Gabi) were very warm and hospitable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Jimmy touched base when my payment didn't go through the first time days prior to our arrival and sorted it out asap. And Gabi was in touch when my partner and I were running a little late with checking in. Upon arriving, she was welcoming and had us sorted on amenities and check out procedures in no time. Our room was very sweet, cosy, clean and calming. Loved the mural of the spotted quolls and ambience of our room. The amenities - built in storage system (clothes rack, shelves and bar fridge) and floating bed side tables with lamps were great. The shared bathrooms were very clean with amazing showers! The location is central and close to a junction of early morning cafes. It is also a short walk to RACV hotel (Stop 5) Skybus stop if you have an early morning flight the next morning. Also close to Dier Makr! Had the hotel had rooms available at the beginning of our time in Tassie, we definitely would have stayed there. I definitely recommend staying here if you're seeking a quirky, artsy stay with the comfort of an apartment or an Airbnb. We look forward to hopefully staying there again soon! :)

Very central CBD location made it easy to get around on foot to most Hobart attractions . The host Jim, was super friendly and accomodating. Our room “ Deluxe Queen “ was clean and roomy facing Liverpool street with double paned windows which minimised the street noise in the morning.Overall the room itself was a comfortable and quiet space to relax in . The shared bathrooms were clean and close to the room Appreciated having a fridge in the room and really enjoyed the common room /bar downstairs with the cute balcony space .

Comfortable room that I could control the heating or allow fresh air. It was quiet on the top level and the hotel has good after hours security The bar, lounge and balcony are relaxing places to enjoy during the day or at the end of a big day out, and had a nice buzz at times as the area is open to general public. The staff both helpful and friendly.

I got upgraded which I really appreciated. I didn’t need 2 beds so just got one bigger bed. I left my luggage during the day which was very helpful. I loved the separate women’s and men’s bathrooms.

I was a bit scared by the 9am cocktails (and cappuccinos) and also the reference to vomit in the reference book. I think it might get a bit wild here at times. My stay was very sedate, quiet and perfect.
